Chapter Fourteen: School Ghost Stories 14
The last step was taken in front of the office door.
In a panic, Lu Cen slipped under the desk and sat on the floor. He heard the door creak open and then "click," filling the room with light and a familiar scent.
It's Xie Lin.
Lu Cen breathed a sigh of relief, but did not go out.
He hoped Xie Lin would leave immediately and not discover him, but things didn't go as planned. The other person's footsteps drew closer, and those white shoes came into view: "What are you hiding for?"
Lu Cen didn't move; he felt Xie Lin was trying to provoke him.
To everyone's surprise, the other person squatted down and brought their face close: "Your shoes and clothes are already showing, why are you still hiding them? Tell me, what are you doing in my office in the middle of the night?"
Lu Cen lied: "I left something here this afternoon, so I came to look for it."
Xie Lin smiled and pulled the person out: "What did you drop?"
Lu Cen remained silent, knowing that Xie Lin definitely knew he was lying, but he would never admit it!
Xie Lin: "Did you mess with my computer?"
Lu Cen pursed her lips and whispered, "I bumped into it by accident."
"Yeah?"
"Mm," Lu Cen responded.
"Then what is this?" Xie Lin picked up a USB drive that he hadn't had time to remove from next to the computer.
Lu Cen's mind went blank for a moment, then she said unreasonably, "This is the one I dropped."
He took it from his fingers, stuffed it into the pocket of his blue and white school uniform, and felt uneasy.
"Don't be honest, lying is not good for a child." Xie Lin pinched his waist, pressing right on his injury. Lu Cen's face turned pale, he lost his footing, and braced himself on the edge of the table, saying weakly, "Don't pinch me, my waist hurts."
Xie Lin lifted his clothes with one hand. The injuries from the afternoon were already a bit bruised and looked rather serious, with the skin and flesh slightly bulging and some areas broken.
Xie Lin's tone was heavy: "Didn't you apply any medicine?"
"It wasn't in time..."
"Where's the medicine?"
"In the classroom."
Xie Lin returned from the classroom and carefully applied the medicine to him. The medicine was a little cold, and Lu Cen curled up, not letting him touch him. Xie Lin got annoyed and pressed him down, saying, "Don't move."
Lu Cen was in excruciating pain. His previous illnesses had not made him more tolerant of pain; on the contrary, they had made him even more sensitive to it. He gritted his teeth and remained silent, his body trembling slightly.
Xie Lin asked, "Does it hurt a lot?"
Lu Cen said without hesitation, "You try."
Her voice was a little hoarse, and her eyes were wet with tears, from the pain.
Xie Lin patted him on the shoulder: "Alright, let's go back to the dorm, it's too late."
Lu Cen showed no hesitation, walking past him and heading out quickly without stopping for a moment.
Several teaching buildings are connected by a long corridor. When Lu Cen reached the outermost building, he heard someone cursing in the stairwell.
"Weren't you so smug? How come you've turned into a coward now?"
"Haha, that's right."
“They used to bully us and beat us up because they had more people. Now they’ve all disappeared. I’ll let you experience what it’s like to be beaten up.”
"Damn it, why waste words with him? Let's get on with it, I still need to go back and take a shower."
Like a switch being turned on, a wail followed.
Lu Cen's heart pounded; in the face of death, he had lost all composure.
This school is about to become a hell.
