Chapter Ninety-Seven: Midnight Horror 14

Chapter Ninety-Seven: Midnight Horror 14

On her way back, Lu Cen was restless, feeling that something bad was going to happen.

My brow twitched.

But he didn't know the source of the matter.

Feeling uneasy, Lu Cen returned home alone.

As night approached, Lu Cen felt increasingly uneasy. He curled up on the sofa with a pillow in his arms, his eyes constantly shifting to observe his surroundings. His subconscious told him that something terrifying would happen at night, and based on this intuition, Lu Cen raised his guard to its highest level.

But he couldn't hold on.

After midnight, he started nodding off, too tired to sleep.

Time passed second by second, and gradually, something that didn't belong in the room appeared. The thing was gray all over, like a shadow or the reflection of something. It walked towards the sofa, and with each step, its shadow became more solid.

When the figure reached Lu Cen, its facial features became clearly visible.

It bent down and stared at Lu Cen, its mouth wide open. After a while, the same dark shadows suddenly appeared one after another in the room.

Lu Cen had a dream; she dreamt of being in a corner of the school.

He saw Jiang Zhao and a girl arguing intimately, and he was instantly consumed by jealousy. He stormed over, grabbed Jiang Zhao's wrist, and dragged him away quickly. Once in a corner, he pressed Jiang Zhao against the wall, his eyes red, and said, "Jiang Zhao."

The latter was a little confused, "Huh?"

"Can you please not get so close to them?"

"Huh?" Jiang Zhao was bewildered, then asked, "Why?"

Lu Cen said, "I like you. Will you be my boyfriend?"

Jiang Zhao was initially shocked, then disgusted to the point of madness, and cursed him, "Are you a pervert? There are men confessing to each other."

Lu Cen was taken aback. "How am I a pervert?"

"Anyone who likes men is a pervert."

The two of them thus triggered the fuse, and started arguing back and forth, finally ending with Jiang Zhao's words, "Don't tell anyone."

After Jiang Zhao left, Lu Cen stood there for a long time.

He didn't know how much time had passed when a girl came running up to him and handed him a gift, her face full of shyness.

Lu Cen was still immersed in his argument with Jiang Zhao and didn't react at all. When the girl saw that he wasn't answering, she leaned closer to look at him.

The next second, Jiang Zhao pulled Lu Cen back, and the girl almost fell.

Lu Cen was also startled.

Upon recognizing Jiang Zhao, Lu Cen gave him a cold look.

He ignored him, but Jiang Zhao took his hand and, disregarding the girl's attempts to stop him, walked towards the corner, where he was pinned against the wall.

Jiang Zhao looked pained. "Li Yan, can you please stop getting so close to them?"

Lu Cen: "Huh?"

He was stunned, feeling as if he had seen this scene before.

He asked, "Why?"

Jiang Zhao put his arm around his shoulder. "Because I like you, I don't want you to be so close to other people. Will you be my boyfriend?"

A thunderbolt struck, leaving Lu Cen dumbfounded.

Isn't this the same scenario he just experienced? Only their roles have been reversed. What's going on?

His mind was racing, but his mouth was out of his control; he blurted out, "Are you a pervert? You actually like men."

Jiang Zhao was deeply shocked and muttered, "So this is what makes me a freak."

"What else is it but a pervert if a man confesses his love to another man?"

What followed was another argument.

When Lu Cen woke up in the morning, he had a splitting headache. The dream was so real that he could remember every single detail. It was such a strange dream.

It's clear that Li Yan liked Jiang Zhao, confessed his feelings but was rejected, and the two drifted apart. How did it become that Jiang Zhao confessed to him and he spoke ill of him?

It's bizarre, so bizarre.

Once Lu Cen recovered from the pain, he realized he wasn't on the sofa, but on the bed. The blankets were rumpled and crumpled, and his clothes were nowhere to be found. Looking down, he saw that his body was covered in bruises, like a delicate flower battered by a storm.

When he moved to the bathroom and saw the marks on his body, Lu Cen couldn't help but tremble. He had seen these marks too many times before and was very familiar with them. But before, they were all people, all kinds of people. Now it was a ghost, and a terrifying evil ghost at that.

Lu Cen took a shower and felt like crying.

The day flew by, and at night he dared not stay at home, so he went to a bar where the music was deafening.

This sound gave Lu Cen a sense of security. He didn't order any alcohol, but ordered some food. He curled up in a corner, playing on his phone while eating.

But the early morning held a special magic for him.

When the time came, he was so sleepy that there was no point in struggling anymore.

In a daze, he glimpsed the end of the street, which was blurry and he couldn't make out the specific shops and people. It was as unreal as looking at the moon in a hazy water.

The next day, Lu Cen woke up in his own bed as usual.

I also had a splitting headache.

He was not late until he received a call from Jiang Zhao, who told him not to be late.

Lu Cen only realized how absurd the world was after he got into the car. He had actually returned to two days ago, when Jiang Zhao was still alive and they hadn't set off yet.

The person who died on this journey was Hu Si. He was killed for bravely saving people. He was stabbed in the back and out with a knife. He stopped breathing in a few seconds.

Lu Cen was swept along and saw all eight of them die one by one.

On their final journey, they finally reached the desert. Gazing at the endless expanse of yellow sand, Lu Cen's heart pounded like a drum, and his body trembled with fear, as if he had experienced something particularly terrifying there, but he couldn't find the source of this horrifying emotion.

So when he encountered a sandstorm that covered everyone and made them lose track of each other, he realized where that fear came from.

The eerie familiarity he felt in the desert tormented him to the point of despair.

Hunger and the instinct for survival were pulling against each other; even the deepest hell couldn't have been this difficult to cross.

Lu Cen's breathing was heavy. He didn't know when he would finally be able to get out of this desert and return to his warm rented room. He closed his eyes, and the dark figures in the room couldn't wait to appear, one after another, all looking at the person sleeping soundly on the bed.

Lu Cen was awakened again by the electronic voice of the assistant system.

"Player Lu Cen, welcome to the level 5 dungeon Midnight Horror."

"success......"

Lu Cen curled up on the bed, his head throbbing with pain, as if an iron rod was twisting and turning in his brain, about to tear it open and splatter his brain matter.

He pinched his hand until it turned blue, but it didn't get better.

After an unknown amount of time, Lu Cen collapsed on the bed, drenched in sweat.

He got up; it was almost night outside.

Lu Cen was lost in thought, completely dazed, as if all her vitality had been drained away.

"Ring ring..."

Lu Cen answered the phone and immediately started a new recurring event.

Time passed, and after an unknown amount of time, Lu Cen's symptoms would worsen with each exit, eventually becoming like an eighty-year-old man, walking unsteadily and breathing heavily. Despite this, he and the other eight people managed to successfully emerge from the desert each time.

When the assistant's electronic voice sounded again, he collapsed onto the bed, his face ashen.

His face was emaciated, like that of a homeless person who had been starving for years.

He received Jiang Zhao's call, and after hanging up, he struggled to get up and staggered towards the kitchen. He pulled out a fruit knife and gestured towards his wrist.

After a while, he seemed dissatisfied and put the knife to his neck in front of the mirror again.

Lu Cen is terrified of pain. She was afraid of it even before she died, and she is even more afraid now.

He's not smart, but he's not stupid either.

It was strange that this level 5 dungeon didn't have a completion time. He couldn't remember how many times he would return to the beginning, but he keenly sensed that something was wrong with his physical condition. He always felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity with the environment.

He knew something was wrong with this copy.

So when he woke up in bed and the mission was broadcast again, he finally realized the core of the mission. He then received a call from Jiang Zhao and understood everything. There was no one who had actually died in this mission. As long as he committed suicide and filled in his name before anything happened, he could complete the mission perfectly.

Lu Cen stood in front of the mirror, her hands trembling.

Lacking experience, he hesitated for a long time before taking action. But thinking of the mission, he held the knife to his neck and simultaneously activated the light screen to write the two characters "Li Yan" on it.

He mentally called out, without much hope, "Assistant."

"Hello, player Lu Cen."

Do you have any poison that kills instantly upon contact with blood?

"Yes, please choose one."

Lu Cen's ashen eyes suddenly lit up as he searched through the screen. There was a white pill inside, described as a pill that would kill someone within three seconds of ingestion.

Only two points are needed.

Lu Cen bought it without hesitation, ate it while lying on the bed, and then clicked submit the next second.

"Congratulations to player Lu Cen for successfully clearing the level 5 dungeon Half-Horror".

"No items may be taken out of the instance, except for special items."

"You are about to exit the game. Please prepare 30, 29, 28... 3, 2, 1."
