Chapter 90 Midnight Horror 7
When he recovered from that state, he was so shocked he felt like he'd been struck by lightning.
He's no different from a psychopath.
Seeing someone collapse in the bathroom, instead of checking on them, he went out to get a camera and took nude photos of them!
He clumsily carried the person out, dried them off, and put them on the bed. Only then did he belatedly realize that Lu Cen had inexplicably gained many more marks on his body, several bright red ones.
Before he could figure it out, he was drawn to that fair and alluring body, feeling as hot as if he had just come out of a sauna.
Half panicked, half at a loss.
Jiang Zhao picked up the blanket and covered himself with it before letting out a sigh of relief. If he continued watching, he didn't know what would happen. This version of himself felt unfamiliar and frightening.
The bright daylight dispels the chill of the night.
Lu Cen was distracted, ultimately still frightened by what happened last night. He sat next to Jiang Zhao without realizing it, but his knee touched Jiang Zhao. Jiang Zhao subconsciously recalled the scene he had seen last night, tensed up, and moved to the side.
Lu Cen didn't notice and hesitated before saying, "I saw Hu Si last night..."
He didn't dare mention Jiang Zhao, afraid of scaring him.
If you scare people away, he'll go crazy if he's left alone at night.
At first, Jiang Zhao did not believe what he was saying. Such a thing simply did not exist in the world. As someone who grew up in a scientific world, such a thing was simply a fantasy to him.
But what happened last night...
He had actually spent quite a bit of time with Li Yan, and he could sense whether Li Yan had a mental illness or something was wrong with him.
That's why he felt that Li Yan wouldn't do such absurd things; the only explanation was that the truth might really be as he said.
Hu Si is back.
He thought for a moment and said, "Don't leave my side tonight. I want to see if there really are ghosts in this world!"
With those words, Lu Cen felt much more at ease.
He scrolled through the food delivery app, choosing the breakfast he wanted. He asked Jiang Zhao for his opinion and bought porridge, fried dough sticks, and other food. Lu Cen's mindset changed quickly. Although this was a horror game, his focus was never on getting rid of the ghosts, but on how to successfully complete the mission.
With so few clues at the moment, he could only remain an observer, watching to see where the story was headed, hoping to find a starting point.
Soon, as the two of them whiled away the time, night fell, and the moonlight was cold and clear.
To avoid distraction, the two turned on a TV program, an animal documentary, showing a leopard chasing its prey at incredible speed. However, their minds were elsewhere in the room.
Lu Cen was more experienced and mostly looked at the windows and doors.
But maintaining this vigilance for a long time is tiring. Lu Cen relaxed slightly and slumped on the sofa. He had drunk too much water in the afternoon. He got up to go to the bathroom, but then he thought of what happened yesterday and turned back to say, "Come with me to the bathroom."
Since yesterday, Jiang Zhao has been somewhat unnatural when facing Lu Cen, but Lu Cen, being oblivious, has not noticed.
Jiang Zhao: "How old are you? Do you need an adult to accompany you to the bathroom?"
“I was afraid to act alone, so Hu Si came to find me.”
Jiang Zhao was simple-minded and, being a sophomore, was still a teenager. Upon hearing this, he got up and leaned against the bathroom door, like a security guard, never leaving its side. Bored, he looked at Lu Cen.
Lu Cen stood there motionless for a long time. He wasn't made of wood. Being stared at like that reminded him of how Ados had stared at him. He was so angry he felt like he was about to burst. He turned around and pushed the person a little against the wall, so that only a small part of the toilet could be seen.
He also instructed, "Don't peek."
Jiang Zhao didn't move at all, but Lu Cen didn't notice that the mirror on the bathroom sink reflected his image. From Jiang Zhao's angle, he could see it clearly. Lu Cen first unbuttoned his shirt and pulled down his zipper. Jiang Zhao's breath hitched. Now he really felt like a pervert. He quickly looked away, and then the sound of running water was heard.
Jiang Zhao was drawn to the sound and saw a skeletal hand, covered in blood and gore, reaching out toward the back of Lu Cen's neck!
Jiang Zhao felt his blood run cold. When the hand was about to touch Lu Cen's neck, he suddenly pushed the door open, startling Lu Cen so much that she trembled. The hand was nowhere to be seen. Jiang Zhao's eyes were filled with suspicion and uncertainty, and his breathing was rapid. He paced around the bathroom a few times before finally confirming one fact: what Lu Cen said was true.
In this world.
There's a ghost.
Lu Cen composed herself and asked, puzzled, "What's wrong?"
Jiang Zhao's gaze fell on him, and he barely regained some composure. "You come out first."
The two returned to the sofa, and Jiang Zhao told him what had just happened. Lu Cen was terrified and turned pale. Jiang Zhao was no better off. He was a man who had lived for twenty years and had never seen anything beyond his comprehension. He never expected to encounter something like this today.
That ghostly hand, like Lu Cen's naked body from last night, had taken root in his mind and he couldn't shake it off. Jiang Zhao asked, "Did you encounter it last night too?"
Lu Cen nodded.
"The ghostly hand disappeared when I went in. Could it be that ghosts don't dare to appear when there are two people around?"
This was an angle Lu Cen hadn't considered. Before, when Hu Si was with him, the two of them were on opposite sides, which is why Jiang Zhao succeeded. If he stays with Jiang Zhao now, will they still come?
“That makes a lot of sense.” Lu Cen agreed with his point of view and then made a request, “How about we stay up together tonight and not sleep, and take a look?”
Jiang Zhao agreed.
The two were in pretty good spirits for the first half of the night, playing games and watching movies together. But after midnight, Lu Cen couldn't hold on any longer. He slumped on the sofa and said to Jiang Zhao, "I can't go on. I'm going to sleep for a while. If anything happens, remember to wake me up."
Seeing that he couldn't even open his eyes, Jiang Zhao, unusually soft-hearted, nodded in agreement.
There was barely enough room for two people to sit on the sofa, let alone sleep. Lu Cen, without the slightest suspicion or hesitation, asked, "Shall we go to the bedroom?"
Before Jiang Zhao could object, he grabbed his wrist and led him to the bedroom. In just a few steps, Jiang Zhao felt dizzy and thought to himself, "Is she trying to seduce me?"
I liked him so much before, confessed to him, and pursued him relentlessly for so long. Now that we have a ready reason to be together, I'm afraid I'd be wasting this hard-won opportunity if I didn't do something.
Jiang Zhao was brainstorming, and his ideas went completely off the rails.
Until Lu Cen took off her shoes, lay down on the left side of the bed and fell asleep a few seconds later, showing no intention of paying attention to Jiang Zhao, he stood there for a while, looking at Lu Cen's sleeping face, and then looked at the window. Seeing that there was nothing unusual, Jiang Zhao first closed the bedroom door, making the space seem smaller, with only Lu Cen's breathing sounds.
He initially felt uncomfortable sitting on the edge of the bed and played a few games. After sitting for a while, his back started to hurt, so he changed his position and leaned against the headboard. His heart was pounding. He felt like an outsider, unknowingly intruding into a strange territory filled with the fragrance of flowers.
The area was filled with the owner's scent and aroma. Surrounded by this feeling, Jiang Zhao felt increasingly hot, and sweat beaded on his forehead. Looking down, he saw Lu Cen sleeping soundly, his jade-like arm lying across the blue blanket, his nostrils twitching slightly. Usually, he was a bit spoiled, but now he was quite obedient.
As if possessed, Jiang Zhao switched to the photo album. His phone flashed, and a large number of photos appeared on the screen. Each one had the same background and pose, and they looked pretty much the same, except for slight differences in angle. But he still took several photos.
Clicking on one of the photos, Lu Cen's face was blurred in the mist, and his body was also indistinct. When Jiang Zhao first started taking the photos, he thought they were particularly beautiful, like a scene from a dream. Now he realized what it meant to come to an abrupt end. These photos couldn't even make out Lu Cen's specific physical appearance, and even zooming in didn't help.
He sighed and switched to the game screen.
As he played, for some reason, his head became heavier and his eyelids became heavier and heavier. He had a bad feeling and struggled to wake up. He even tried to bite his tongue to try to wake up, but he couldn't even move his mouth. His vision was blurry and his body was sliding down.
In his dazed state, he saw a long, black thing crawl in through the window. He could only see its outline and didn't know what it looked like, but Jiang Zhao knew that it was Hu Si.
It came looking for Lu Cen!
What is it going to do?!
Kill him!
Thinking of this possibility, Jiang Zhao inexplicably regained some of his senses and strength. He bit himself, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw a shadow standing at the foot of the bed. It was tall and thin, covered in blood. Jiang Zhao felt that it looked familiar and was shocked. Hu Si was still by the bed. What was this thing standing at the foot of the bed?
When his vision focused, there was no trace of Hu Si or that thing left in the room; they vanished without a trace in an instant. Jiang Zhao learned his lesson and was afraid of falling for it again, so he didn't even dare to use his phone much until a white light rose on the horizon, signifying the arrival of a new day.
Jiang Zhao couldn't hold on any longer and fell asleep on the bed.
What he didn't notice was a dark shadow in the corner, a dark blob like chocolate melting on the ground. Slowly, the shadow stretched its body, growing longer and wider, and soon it took the shape of a person.
Upon closer inspection, this thing looks exactly like Jiang Zhao.
It strolled to the bedside and observed the two people. Just as it was about to make a move, the first ray of sunlight on the horizon refracted directly onto the bedside. The light was so bright that it took a few steps back and then disappeared back to its original position.
When Lu Cen woke up, it was already noon. He leaned on a head, and the hair brushed against his forehead, making it itchy. He scratched it a few times before he realized where he was. He saw that Jiang Zhao only had bruises under his eyes and looked rather tired, so nothing should have happened last night.
He carefully moved his head and got out of bed. After taking a few steps, he found that he had stepped on something sticky and gooey, and it took him some effort to lift his foot.
Lu Cen looked down and saw several bloody footprints at the foot of the bed. Judging from the direction the toes were pointing, the person had walked from the wall to the foot of the bed and had been there for who knows how long.
Lu Cen thought about how he had been sleeping last night when something stood there staring at him, and he felt like he was going to explode. A sense of unease spread throughout his body.
