Shuixi has a cat (2)

Shuixi has a cat (2)

It was another rainy night. The streetlights on either side glowed stubbornly amidst the onslaught of mist, leaving the road pitch black. The patter of raindrops clung to my ears, making the passengers resting against the windows in the car feel as if they had fallen into a torrent.

The road wasn't easy to navigate. The driver in the front row sighed and repeatedly urged the boss to get out of the way. In such heavy rain, what could possibly be causing this urgency?

"Looking at this situation, is there going to be a flood?"

"Stop ahead." Ming Yan wasn't the type of boss to deliberately embarrass his employees. The weather was truly terrible, so it was understandable. But Ming Yan was determined to get to the store now. She ignored the driver's pleas and drove on. In the raging storm, the expensive car became a rickety little boat, poised to capsize at any moment.

The lights on North Chongning Street were still on, but once you reached the other side, you could see nothing. It was pitch black, with only the two car lights illuminating the three or four meters ahead. The weather here was always like this, raining endlessly regardless of the season. Ming Yan had lived here for over twenty years and had never experienced such hardship. She was afraid, too, but it was her worry that drew her back to Shanyou Fusu.

The lantern at the shop entrance was still lit. On a night like this, a short circuit in the electrical wiring could cause a fire... that would be extremely dangerous. Shuixi possessed a wealth of common sense and managed everything in the shop flawlessly. Mingyan knew it wasn't one of her employees who forgot to turn it off. She would tolerate such behavior.

Although he had not been informed in advance, as soon as he opened the car door, Ming Yan saw a pair of legs wearing furry slippers and a black umbrella above his head.

"How did you know I was coming?" Could it be that he was so scared that he kept standing at the window and staring at what was happening outside?

Shuixi didn't answer. She protected Mingyan and urged her to go to the store quickly to hide from the rain.

"Why are you here? It's raining so hard, it must be difficult to walk on the road." Shuixi put away the umbrella, brought a blanket to Mingyan, and brewed a pot of Mingyan's favorite fruit tea.

Ming Yan enjoyed the warmth of the blanket and hot tea, noticing that Shui Xi was different today. Before she could ask, Shui Xi smiled at her, suddenly adding a touch of elegance to her demeanor, which struck a chord with Ming Yan.

"Do you have any good news?" Ming Yan said this, and immediately thought of Shui Xi's next sentence, which might be that she was so happy because of her coming in such weather. She was so scared that her heart tightened.

"Nothing. But why did you have to come here in such heavy rain? If you need anything, just tell me and I'll get it to you."

It turned out it wasn’t because of her! Ming Yan felt a little disappointed. It seemed like he had come here for nothing.

"I thought you would be scared like kittens and puppies in this kind of weather, so I rushed over to accompany you. It seems that I was too sentimental!" After saying this, Ming Yan was sure that the other party would feel ashamed.

Shuixi's smiling brows drooped, "How can I repay your kindness?"

Not everything goes as she imagined. He's tall, well-built, and handsome, but his eyes sometimes dart around like a cheetah. If he were a model, this wouldn't be a problem. Doesn't he smile? And a beautiful one at that. He knows how to wag his tail when facing his boss. Ming Yan had mentioned this once before: with such good conditions, why should he bury himself here and live a life of poverty and hardship? Shui Xi had righteously requested, "I'll just stay here."

He clearly has a wealthy young man as a friend. Hui Zifeng seems a bit clueless, likely easy to deceive. Or is Shuixi just too honest? He chose to work here just to have a place to stay, and even with this situation, he doesn't envy or feel jealous of others, nor does he feel inferior, as if he doesn't care about material things at all. Ming Yan looked at his resume. His life has been rough, but it's clean and innocent, without any complicated connections. What does he care about? What does he want?

"Who asked you to repay me?" Ming Yan's throat was dry, but it wasn't because he was thirsty, but to hide his embarrassment. "You run the store so well every day, but I don't even pay you. Haha, I'm taking advantage of you, haha..."

There were several "clang, clang" noises coming from upstairs. Ming Yan looked in the direction of the sound and exclaimed in surprise, "Is that a rat? We just had a burglary, and now there are rats again?"

It was obvious that Ming Yan would rather believe that a thief had broken into his house than that there were mice in the house.

"Boss, do you want to sleep here tonight?"

Ming Yan didn't expect to be kicked out. It was raining so hard outside, how could Shui Xi say such a thing? He wasn't like this before! There was definitely something wrong.

"But my car is out of gas, can you go and fill it up for me?"

Shuixi looked at Mingyan, as if she could read his thoughts from her eyes. She confessed without any disguise, "Boss, I have a cat. It's probably new here and feels uneasy in its unfamiliar environment."

"Having a cat?" Ming Yan was shocked that such a terrifying guy was actually a cat lover. It was hard to imagine what that scene would be like. She couldn't wait to urge Shuixi to bring the cat out to see. Shuixi didn't refuse and went upstairs. But after a long time, he didn't show up. After carefully listening for sounds, even Shuixi's movements had disappeared.

Ming Yan carefully went upstairs, then suddenly remembered that if Shuixi really got a cat, what would happen if the cat messed up all the treasures in her house? They were all unique and world-renowned treasures. No, if Shuixi got a cat, she would have to kick him out. It was a threat to her interests.

The noise she'd heard downstairs had come from Shuixi's bedroom, but Mingyan couldn't find any trace of a cat there. Shuixi's room only had a bed and a few clothes, but now there was a beautifully crafted plate on the bed, with a few black balls on it. Was it cat food? Seeing no one around, Mingyan quietly went in and picked one up. Before she even put it to her nose, a foul odor rushed straight to her head. She didn't bother to hide it now, and directly expressed her disgust, shouting Shuixi's name and insisting that both the person and the cat be driven away!

It was raining so hard, and she came at the perfect time. If she hadn't come, she wouldn't have discovered that Shuixi had messed up her house.

Shuixi didn't respond. The rooms upstairs were so complicated and filled with stuff, and she couldn't find a living person like that, and there was no response. Mingyan was furious when she felt something drift behind her. She turned around and saw that the window was not closed tightly, letting in a gust of wind. She closed the window tightly, then heard movement in the room behind her. She picked up something like a stick and went over to investigate.

Oh my god! Ming Yan was about to call the police! Shui Xi really knew how to surprise her. Ming Yan couldn't bear to watch it.

"What are you doing?" Ming Yan complained.

Shuixi lay sprawled on the ground, broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted, his hips raised. It was hard not to be tempted by this pose. It was simply too alluring. He wore a fitted black shirt and suit pants, the only thing that saved the onlookers from a simplistic view was a pair of cream-colored SpongeBob SquarePants socks. As Ming Yan spoke, he turned back with an innocent expression, his cheetah eyes lowering their guard as he waited for his master's question.

"Looking for the cat?" Ming Yan's anger faded, and she turned to help in another room. The scene she had just witnessed kept lingering in her mind. In fact, she had been attracted by Shui Xi's beauty the first time she met him, so she had kept him there regardless of anything else. After spending so many days together and getting to know him a little better, his annoying qualities had become a cloying and annoying sight, clinging to her body, and she had gradually forgotten his charm. However, a beauty is still a beauty after all, emitting a seductive factor at all times, and who knows when she will lure someone in again.

Ming Yan patted her forehead to sober herself up. It's not like she hasn't seen better ones. She turned the thing in her hand and realized that it was a fan, which was also a telescopic stick. She couldn't tell what the material was. It was as soft as ivory and as thin as paper, but not brittle. There were exquisite hollow patterns carved on both sides, and the middle was black with white characters. Unfold the fan and press a small button on the handle. The hidden second layer of the fan will extend. There are three layers in total, which can be combined into a large fan. As a stick, it also has three sections. The holes made by the carving are concentrated together to form small holes. When it is short, it can be used as a flute, and when it is long, it can be used as a cane. What is amazing is that there is no trace of truncation between the layers and sections, and it is completely integrated.

This thing was supposed to be both a fan and a flute. It was a rare feat for the craftsman, whose ingenuity and skill were remarkable, to have accomplished what the superiors had set him, saving his life. Ming Yan speculated that something like this might have happened back then. She then recalled that an old gentleman had forgotten it here and had never been able to return it. It seemed to be called "Iron Horse Watching Flowers."

It's a pity that such a good thing doesn't have a good name. Ming Yan thought, what name should I give it? After wandering around, he returned to Shuixi's room and pushed open the door.

Isn't that the cat? A white cat, palm-sized, pitiful, with a golden bell around its neck. It stood atop the cabinet, less than a meter away from Ming Yan. If it had a bell, why didn't it make any noise when it walked? The cat's eyes held hostility.

Ming Yan called out gently, expressing goodwill to win the little cutie's trust. He offered the flower-watching iron horse, but it nearly fell to the ground. Ming Yan instinctively reached for it. Perhaps sensing the perfect moment for a surprise attack, the cat lunged forward, teeth bared. By the time Ming Yan realized this, she'd already considered the potential for scratches, but her body was slow to react. At that moment, an external force rushed toward her like a powerful shield, causing her body to spin outward involuntarily. By the time she realized what was happening, she was already in Shui Xi's arms.

The cat jumped over Shuixi's shoulder and fled into another room. The bell still did not ring.

"It won't come here again. Just stay here and don't move." Shuixi said this in a tone that seemed to be a warning. If Mingyan did as he said, it would ruin his plan. And he didn't want that result.

Ming Yan wasn't moved at all, only impressed by Shui Xi's swiftness and exceptional reflexes. A battle of human and animal abilities, to see who would prevail! Ming Yan twirled the stick in his hand, a look of ease and ease on his face. For some unknown reason, he felt Shui Xi's judgment was completely wrong. Just as he was about to push the door open again, he heard a faint moaning sound from within, a sound that sent a chill down his spine. Ming Yan shuddered.

Could it be that Shuixi has hidden something else besides the cat?
