Chapter 80 Letter

"Why do you look like that? Quickly read what Ye Zi said in the letter." Sun's mother couldn't stand seeing a boy being treated like a little girl. If she hadn't taken into consideration that Sun Lin's injury hadn't healed yet, she would have definitely slapped him twice.

Sun Lin glanced at his elder brother who looked calm and composed. Sun Sen shrugged and gave him a look that told him to fend for himself and there was nothing he could do to help him.

Dad Sun poured a cup of hot water and drank it leisurely, not forgetting to wink at him and ask him to read the letter quickly.

No love anymore!

Well, Sun Lin finally saw clearly that his status in the family was the lowest and everyone was superior to him.

He unfolded the letter, cleared his throat, and tried to read it with passion and emotion, to show everyone that he still had some merits.

"Dad, Mom, big brother and second brother, seeing your words is like seeing you. Everything is fine at school. I just miss Mom's cooking. The food in the cafeteria is not as delicious as Mom's..."

"My child, if I were around, I would cook a hundred or eighty meals for you and make sure you were well fed." Mother Sun said with emotion. She missed her child so much because he left home so early and she hadn't seen him for several months.

Mother Sun found a bench to sit on and raised her hand for Sun Lin to continue reading.

"There's a peach tree over here, and it's in bloom right now. It's similar to the ones in our yard, but not as beautiful and fragrant as the ones in our yard. Mom and Dad, please save some peaches for me when I come back for summer vacation..."

Sun's mother and father were at a loss for words, and couldn't help but sigh that it was still the little greedy cat in their family who was always thinking about food.

"There is a peach tree grove inside the school. I remember when I delivered the leaves there, the trees were bare and no leaves had grown yet." Dad Sun also recalled a scene when he visited Shuimu University.

"Then why didn't you tell me you were coming back?"

"I forgot."

"If I go I won't forget it."

"Then go and have a look next time you have a chance."

Sun Lin didn't feel any sense of accomplishment when he was reading. He was interrupted after just a few sentences. It felt really bad, but he couldn't say anything.

"Mom, are you still reading?"

"Yes, why not?"

Sun Lin sighed heavily. He faced the reality. He was just a robot that could recite words. He could be controlled remotely. He could stop when he should and continue when he should. Don't expect him to recite with emotion.

"If I could read, would I need you?" Mother Sun muttered softly.

But the problem was that everyone present could hear the muttering clearly, and Sun Lin was heartbroken again.

"I'm doing pretty well at school. I'm very busy every day, and my classmates are all studying very hard. I've met my roommate's dad before; he's a shy guy, and we get along well. None of my other roommates live in the dorm..."

Sun Lin stopped consciously, thinking that there would probably be a wave of discussion at this location.

"Ye Zi's roommate is a tall and strong girl."

Mother Sun looked at Father Sun eagerly, wanting him to say something more.

In fact, when Sun's father just came back, Sun's mother had no idea how many times he had been asked about these things. The same few sentences were repeated over and over again, but he just couldn't hear them enough. It seemed that if he heard them a few more times, he would understand where Sun Ye lived and studied.

A mother worries when her son is away from home.

"Also, grandpa and grandma, please say hello to them for me and tell them that I miss them. Pick some vegetables from our private plot and send them to them. They like them, so eat more and they will be healthy..."

"Brother, aren't you going to take the college entrance exam? I found a few good books here and mailed them back. When you have time, go to the post office to pick them up. Brother, I believe you can definitely get into a good university."

"Second brother, although my eldest brother and I have always thought you were stupid, we should learn to compare. You are not very smart at home, but you are much smarter outside. You are so smart that you will not make our parents angry..."

"Look, look, Ye Zi can see through your character at a glance and knows you'll make a mistake. Now, she's right..."

Sun Ye's letter expressed almost all the concerns she needed to express. If there was not enough paper, she could have written three or four more pages. She had so many things to say, but when she picked up the pen, she didn't know where to start. Words could not express her deep longing.

"The letter is accompanied by the royalties from my submission. It's not much, but it's a token of my appreciation. Mom, just buy whatever you need. I'll pay for it. Now I can make money too..."

"I stay at the research institute on Sundays and earn several yuan a month. Don't worry about me running out of money..."

The letter was read in its entirety. Mother Sun was very satisfied and brought Sun Lin a bowl of water to moisten his throat.

She picked up the money on the table and counted them one by one, smiling from ear to ear. Although it was only a few dollars, it was a gift from her daughter and she would keep it well.

Dad Sun reached out and wanted to touch the money sent by Sun Ye, but Mom Sun slapped it away. She ignored Dad Sun's frustrated look and said happily:

"I'll keep Ye Zi's money for her. I'll give it to her when she needs it in the future. Every penny counts. You two brothers are not allowed to think about Ye Zi's money."

Sun Lin and Sun Sen looked at each other and immediately became angry. What a joke! Just a few dollars is not worth worrying about. Didn’t he also give a few dollars, although a little less than Ye Zi’s?

But he still got beaten up. They both earned money and handed it over, so why was there such a big difference? Sun Lin complained silently in his heart and said that he didn't dare to tell anyone, for fear that if he did, he would have to lie in bed for several days.

"Senzi, go to the post office this afternoon and pick up the book Ye Zi sent you. But please think of Ye Zi..."

"Mom, I know."

"And you, Sun Lin, if you can't move, just stand by me and read Ye Zi's letter to me a few more times. It won't be a big deal, right?" Mother Sun turned to look at Sun Lin. That look decided everything, and she couldn't say no.

Sun Lin's eyes widened in shock. To make sure he had heard correctly, he shook the letter in his hand and repeated what Sun's mother had said:

"Mom, do you still want to listen?"

Mother Sun gave Sun Lin a look. Okay, no need to say anything, he understood.

"Brother, why don't you come and read it?"

"Isn't your brother tired after working all afternoon? You've been lying down all morning, so it's time to move around. Don't ruin your health. It's not nice for a young person to lie down in front of the sky."

Sun Lin opened his mouth, but was silenced by his mother's words. Was he happy to lie in bed?

But he also understood that Sun Ma had to find fault with him in everything he did recently. It would be fine if he just endured it. Otherwise, what else could he do? He didn't have the ability to go against Sun Ma, and he didn't dare to do that.

He still has the pressure of his elder brother and father on him, and he knows that Sun's mother is angry that he went to the black market. Life will be better after she calms down.

After listening to the letter, Sun's mother started to cook, and the task of lighting the fire fell on Sun's father. As for Sun Lin, Sun's mother sent him to the vegetable garden to pick some vegetables and send them to the old house, and also to read Sun Ye's letter to his grandparents.

A happy and healthy family is more important than anything else.

More than a month had passed since Sun Ye's letter, and Sun Lin's injury had almost healed.

Sun Lin's mind began to become active again, and he kept unconsciously thinking about selling goods on the black market, and from time to time he would look through the bills he had hidden.

At night, the moon is high in the sky, without a single star. There is only a bright moon and the occasional passing clouds in the sky.

The sound of mosquitoes could be heard from time to time in the yard, making the already quiet yard even quieter.

The night wind blew past the window, and the paper-pasted window seemed to be easily blown apart, letting in a few gusts of cool wind.

"Linzi, what are you doing so restless all day long?"

Sun Sen wrapped himself tightly in the quilt and leaned over to ask Sun Lin, who was still tossing and turning and refusing to sleep. The two grew up together, and he knew what the boy wanted to do as soon as Sun Lin raised his hand.

"Are you still thinking about the black market?"

Sun Lin stopped wrapping himself in the quilt and lay motionless on the bed. After a while, he got up again, sat cross-legged, and asked:

"Brother, if Mom beats me up, will she agree to let me sell goods on the black market?"

"That's a nice thought."

"Brother, you don't know, the black market isn't actually that dangerous. It's become much more relaxed since the college entrance exam. I have a feeling I can make a lot of money there, and it won't be difficult to buy some clothes, food, and daily necessities for my parents..."

"How do you know it's loose?"

"Well... I heard from others that there aren't many people from the Revolutionary Committee on the streets anymore, and they're not arresting people anymore..."

"That's just what you think. There are dangers in places you can't see."

"Brother! Please help me, persuade Mom for me. I'll go to Dad's place. Don't you like reading? When I have money, I'll buy you ten or eight books, and buy you a room full of books to read, okay?"

"No, please don't. If you are afraid of mom, then I am not afraid of mom. Don't paint any rosy pictures for me. I'm afraid of being buried by these rosy pictures." Sun Sen refused again and again. Although his tone was still firm, he was indeed shaken in his heart.

Who can say that he doesn't love money? He also loves money, but the way Sun Lin said to make money is too dangerous.

You can say he is timid or cautious, but he does not approve of making money in this way. He can only do it if the country allows it in the future. By then, Sun Lin can do whatever he wants.

The most important thing now is to keep an eye on Sun Lin and prevent him from doing anything illegal like squatting on the fence.

"Linzi, let's just work hard and have something to eat. Not going hungry is better than anything else. As for whether we can make a lot of money or not, don't worry about it."

"There's a saying that goes, 'What's yours won't run away, and what's not yours can't be forced.' If you really think you can make a lot of money, there will definitely be opportunities, but not now."

After hearing this, Sun Lin kicked his quilt. The quilt covered his head and he could not hear anything. It was obvious that he was not cooperating.

"No matter what you think, I will keep a close eye on you on behalf of your parents and won't give you the chance to go to the black market. Cut off all your connections on the black market."

After he finished speaking, the room fell into silence. Sun Sen sighed. His younger brother had grown up and had his own ideas. He could no longer fight with him like before. It was really a pity.

Sun Lin covered his ears, thinking that this way he wouldn't have to listen to his elder brother's lectures. What he said was clear, so he wanted to take a gamble.

"Finally, let me say one more thing. If you go to the black market, if you get caught, then Ye Zi's university and I might not be able to go to the college entrance examination. Think about it..."

Sun Lin was stunned and curled up in his quilt, feeling extremely conflicted. The last sentence really hit him hard.

"I see."
