"You are not her."
The emperor's face suddenly turned cold, and his eyes seemed to want to tear her to pieces.
It was only at this moment that he finally saw his crown prince, but there was no longer any concern for him in his eyes, but rather a deep sense of apprehension.
"Your Highness, why did you bring her here?"
Just as the Crown Prince was about to speak, Yun Lian blinked and spoke at an inopportune moment.
"Your Majesty, are you not welcoming my arrival?"
Upon hearing her address, the emperor was slightly taken aback, then flew into extreme rage.
"How dare you! Why do you not kneel before me?"
Yun Lian suddenly pulled out a dragon-shaped jade pendant from her bosom, with the character "bamboo" engraved on the bottom.
"Not to mention that I saved His Highness the Crown Prince, even though I came here specifically to return the jade intact, Your Majesty still had to exert tremendous effort, and I was almost exhausted when I knelt down?"
The emperor almost laughed out of anger at her.
No matter how much kindness she has shown him, she must kneel before him unless she has received his permission.
Before he could speak, Yun Lian pulled out another jade pendant from her sleeve.
"Fine, since the Emperor tells me to kneel, then I will kneel."
"When I first saw the jade pendant that the Second Prince dropped, it looked very similar to the one that I always wear close to my body. I thought we were very destined to be together."
"In that case, I shall kneel."
Yun Lian handed the Second Prince's jade pendant to the Emperor, and then took out her own jade pendant.
When the emperor saw the jade pendant, he was so surprised that he almost lost his breath.
"Where did you get this jade pendant?"
"Didn't I just say that this is a jade pendant I've worn since I was a child?"
Comparing the Emperor's jade pendant with Yun Lian's, it belatedly came to my realization that Yun Xiao also had one.
"Your Highness, quickly give me your jade pendant."
When Yunxiao took out the two jade pendants, her mind was already a complete mess.
Why does she have two almost identical jade pendants?
"Yes! Your subject obeys the decree."
Yunxiao took the jade pendant from his heart and handed it to the emperor.
Three almost identical jade pendants were neatly arranged on the table.
A tear rolled down the corner of the Emperor's eye as he glanced at the jade pendant and then at Yun Lian.
They look so alike.
Whether it was her unwillingness to kneel down, or this jade pendant.
It was just like the first time the Imperial Concubine met him.
When the imperial concubine saw him, she refused to kneel down.
But she handed him the jade pendant that he had accidentally dropped.
Upon closer inspection, the emperor discovered that she not only looked very much like the Imperial Concubine, but even her eyebrows and eyes bore a striking resemblance to his own.
He walked a few steps to Yun Lian, his fingers wanting to touch her, but he was afraid it was all a dream and dared not approach her.
He asked, trembling, "Girl, what's your name?"
“Yun Lian”.
Upon hearing this name, the emperor was struck dumb.
The character "怜" (lian) was chosen by him and the Imperial Concubine.
When the Imperial Concubine was pregnant with this child, they had already chosen a name for her and commissioned two jade pendants for her.
In a daze, he seemed to see the imperial concubine, her belly protruding, leaning gently against him and speaking to him.
"Your Majesty, if she is a princess, we shall call her Yun Lian, and if she is a prince, we shall call her Yun Jue, shall we?"
"Very well, as long as it's a name chosen by the Imperial Concubine, it will sound good no matter what it is. I will instruct the Ministry of Rites to have them make jade pendants."
However, the jade pendant that belonged exclusively to the princess was never found again.
When the enemy attacked, he personally led the army into battle, fighting his way in and out of the enemy's ranks three times, but now he was clutching his chest in pain.
"Yan'er, our princess is not dead, why couldn't you wait a little longer and just abandon us like this..."
The emperor belatedly realized that Yun Lian was still there, and he tremblingly took her hand.
"Yun Lian, whose young lady are you?"
With just one glance, he was absolutely certain that this was his own flesh and blood.
She looks so much like both the imperial concubine and him.
Yun Lian didn't hide anything and told him directly.
"I am the illegitimate daughter of the Grand Secretary, whom he picked up and raised."
A concubine's daughter?
How could a concubine's daughter possibly have the chance to be associated with His Highness the Crown Prince?
Regardless, he was incredibly grateful that Yun Lian was able to meet the Crown Prince and get close to him; otherwise, even if he died, he would not be able to rest in peace and would have no face to see the Imperial Concubine.
"Found it? Could you tell me the details?"
Yunxiao stood to the side like a transparent person, feeling as if things were slipping out of his control.
Didn't he bring Yun Lian to ask the Emperor for her hand in marriage?
But what's wrong with Father now? Why is his gaze towards Yunlian filled with such loving affection?
Yunxiao quickly interrupted.
“Father, Miss Yun saved my life. Even if she is of lowly status, I hope that you will grant us a marriage even if I do not become the Crown Prince.”
"A marriage decree?"
The emperor's voice suddenly became sharp, and he glared angrily.
"Your Highness, do you know what you're saying?"
Yun Lian looked completely innocent, managing to hide her smile perfectly.
"I only vaguely remember that I was supported by many people before, and it was only after meeting the Grand Secretary that I was able to settle down there permanently."
Yun Lian glanced at Yun Xiao, then knelt down before the emperor with a serious expression.
"Your Majesty, besides returning the jade intact to its rightful owner, my daughter has come to the palace this time also because of a wish of the Crown Prince. I request Your Majesty to grant us a marriage."
The emperor almost couldn't catch his breath, clutching his chest tightly with both hands.
"You, you two...cannot get married unless I die."
Yunxiao looked as if he had been struck by lightning.
"Father, are you truly so heartless?" Yunxiao knelt heavily, his face filled with grief. "Even if I'm willing to let go and no longer be the Crown Prince, will Father still force us to separate?"
The emperor disliked the crown prince in the first place, and only made him the crown prince because he disliked the empress's eldest son and wanted him to take over the position.
As time went by, he discovered that his other princes had not received proper training and were, apart from the two of them, incapable of shouldering great responsibilities.
At this moment, the emperor was heartbroken and pointed at the crown prince several times, but in the end, he hardened his heart and turned his head away to look at Yun Lian.
After the intense emotions subsided, he regained his composure as emperor.
"Your Highness, please leave. I have something to say to her alone."
No matter how unwilling Yunxiao was, she could not defy the emperor's decree.
"yes!"
Suddenly, the vast and luxurious palace was left with only the eunuch and Yun Lian, who were practically invisible.
The emperor pointed at the eunuch beside him and said coldly, "You get out too."
The eunuch was taken aback, but remained silent and quietly withdrew.
"Yun Lian, now that you have overcome so many obstacles to come before me, I do not believe that your purpose is merely to obtain an imperial decree to marry Yun Xiao."
Yun Lian suddenly laughed out loud, and the person in her mind resembled the person she remembered even more.
The emperor was once again dazzled.
"His Majesty is indeed wise and powerful; nothing can escape your eyes."
Yun Lian took out another old blood-written letter from her sleeve. Many of the words on it were blurred, but the emperor could tell at a glance who wrote it.
Having lost it and then found it again, I accepted it as if it were a priceless treasure.
"Your Majesty should be able to understand the general situation after reading this letter. I only learned about it recently, so I hope Your Majesty will not take offense."
