Chapter 8 Applying Medicine "Look up..."

Chapter 8 Applying Medicine "Look up..."

"look up."

Shang Xu stood stiffly, and under her sharp gaze, he hesitated for a moment before slowly raising his head.

Their eyes met, and Shang Xu saw calmness in her deep eyes, but he had a strange feeling that the calm was just a facade, like the sea before a storm, with turbulent waves hidden deep inside.

After staring at her for less than two seconds, Shang Xu lost his courage and lowered his head to avoid her gaze. But before he could make a move, his chin was pinched by a long, slender hand.

Yan Yize's eyes showed displeasure as he looked at the man's swollen cheek. He tightened his grip on the man's chin and said coldly, "What are you hiding for?"

"Now you know how to hide?"

Shang Xu was forced to look up, the hand on his chin was very noticeable, and the spot on his cheek where he had been hit was throbbing. He looked at her and suddenly felt a sense of grievance; she had joined them in bullying him too.

His already reddened eyes reddened even more. Shang Xu bit his lip hard and blinked desperately. He didn't want to cry, he didn't want to shed tears in front of her, but the tears in his eyes fell like beads from a broken string, one drop after another.

Hot tears fell with a splatter onto Yan Yize's hand that was holding his chin, leaving a warm sensation on his cold skin. The water droplets splashed everywhere, and the areas that touched them felt inexplicably hot. The back of his hand tingled and itched, and Yan Yize's fingers involuntarily curled up. Looking into his moist eyes, her throat was dry, and the falling tears seemed to have hit her heart as well, making her heart tighten.

As if burned, Yan Yize abruptly withdrew her hand. She turned her head away, her hand falling naturally behind her back, her fingers slightly bent, as if she could still feel the dampness left by her tears. Her turbulent heart could not calm down for a long time.

As soon as she loosened her grip, Shang Xu immediately lowered his head, secretly wiping away his tears. His eyes were red from rubbing, but the more he wiped, the more tears he shed.

The wind and snow had stopped sometime earlier, and in the vast white world, there were only two people: one was wiping away tears with his head down, and the other was lost in thought.

Wiping away the last tear and calming down, Shang Xu finally remembered her. He subconsciously looked up and saw her quietly watching him, and he immediately froze.

Thinking back on what he had just done, he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him, wishing he could disappear into the ground and run away. His mind was spinning, and he had only one thought in mind—it's all over.

Yan Yize stepped forward, his gaze falling on the man's reddened eyes. The man's eyes, which had just been crying, were like clear lotus flowers washed by the rain, clear and bright, reflecting his own image clearly, making it hard for anyone not to notice him.

She looked into his eyes and asked, "Have you cried enough?"

Shang Xu's face flushed, and he recalled his embarrassing behavior just now. His heart tightened, and he nodded stiffly, standing obediently, ready to receive her scolding.

His behavior just now was really undignified. He knew he had embarrassed her and deserved to be scolded. Shang Xu slumped down. Since he had already been slapped, he didn't care about being scolded anymore.

But then she asked, "Where is your room?"

Shang Xu glanced at her, puzzled, but quickly realized that she was embarrassed to be scolding him in public and wanted to find a secluded and quiet place. He raised his hand and pointed in a direction, "This way."

Yan Yize followed the direction of his finger, nodded, and said, "Lead the way."

——

Upon entering the room, Shang Xu consciously walked up to her and stood there with his head down, his long hair hanging limply over his shoulders, and his hands hanging naturally at his sides, looking as if he were waiting to be reprimanded.

Yan Yize glanced at him with a complex and subtle expression, and asked directly, "Do you have any medicine?"

"What medicine?" Shang Xu was still immersed in the atmosphere of being scolded and didn't react at all. He looked at her in confusion.

"vulnerary."

He still didn't react, nodded, and tried his best to find the medicine he had. There wasn't much medicine on the table, and Shang Xu awkwardly clasped his hands together. He glanced at her and said embarrassedly, "This is all I have."

Yan Yize frowned as she glanced at the medicines. They were all common and inexpensive, and their effects might not be very good, but she didn't have any on her at the moment, so she had to make do for now. She picked up a small white porcelain medicine bottle from the bottle, turned around, and said to him, "Sit down."

Shang Xu was completely bewildered and couldn't understand, but he obediently did as she said until the coolness of her fingertips fell on his burning face, relieving his pain. He finally realized her intention.

The heat spread from where her fingertips touched him, and in a short while, a faint blush enveloped his face, as red as the setting sun reflected in the water. His eyes darted away, unable to meet her gaze, and his earlobes were as vibrant as blooming pomegranate flowers.

Yan Yize had tried to be as gentle as possible, but was still worried about hurting him. He paused, spreading the medicine on his fingertips, and asked anxiously, "Did I hurt you?"

Shang Xu subconsciously shook his head, but just as he was about to move, he immediately remembered that she was applying medicine to his body. Moving would affect her, so he stopped himself and said softly, "No."

The room fell silent. Shang Xu tilted his head back, avoiding eye contact with her, but his peripheral vision couldn't help but fall on her, swaying with her movements. His tranquil heart was like a leaf falling into a still lake, creating tiny ripples.

Suddenly, Shang Xu felt a strange heaviness in her heart as Shang Jue's words and expressions flashed through her mind. Now that they had spent time together, she would probably fall in love with Shang Jue, just like she had with her father.

"alright."

The small white porcelain medicine bottle was placed back on the table. Yan Yize's gaze swept past his flushed face and finally landed on his bright red earlobes, giving him a deep look.

Shang Xu snapped out of his daze, stood up, and said in a muffled voice, "Thank you, Your Highness."

Yan Yize didn't respond directly. He walked to the window, glanced at the scenery, turned back, and said, "A verbal thank you?"

Shang Xu was stunned for a moment. He had only intended to express his gratitude verbally, since he didn't have anything to offer. But judging from her words, it was clear that he couldn't, so he quickly shook his head and said, "No."

"Then I'll be waiting for your reward."
