Chapter 27 Disrupting One's Heartbeat
Chu Ruofu followed Shen Wuyang upstairs, wondering what he had for her.
Shen Wuyang asked her to wait for him on the third-floor viewing balcony. There were two chairs on the balcony, and she sat down to watch the sunset over the sea.
Soon, Shen Wuyang arrived, carrying a paper bag. He placed the bag in front of her with a shy expression and said, "This is for you."
Chu Ruofu looked down to examine the contents; it was a book with a black and gold cover, featuring a gorgeous yet eerie design.
Shen Wuyang sat down opposite her, a hint of trepidation on his handsome face, and said, "This is a book I wrote, a limited edition worldwide. You can no longer buy an original copy on the market. Only a few fans have it in their collections."
When Chu Ruofu met his gaze, which was full of pure love, her heart skipped a beat. She lowered her eyelashes and reached out to take the book out of the paper bag.
The brand-new book was still unopened. A small object had fallen onto her skirt; it was a delicate and beautiful metal object.
Chu Ruofu picked up the small guzheng bookmark, a hint of fondness in her eyes.
Shen Wuyang said, "This is a collection of selected short suspense stories. You can take it out and read it when you're bored. I bought the bookmark from the museum."
Chu Ruofu lowered her eyes, stroked the book cover, and asked, "Why did you give me a gift?"
Shen Wuyang looked at her and said seriously, "The internet says that girls are very happy to receive gifts. I want you to receive a gift every time we meet."

A happy smile appeared on Shen Wuyang's face as he said, "I'm glad Fufu likes it."
Li Yichen's smile froze slightly, inwardly cursing Shen Wuyang for being such a scheming dog, clinging to Chu Ruofu like a dog that smells meat.

"Do you see this?"

Shen Wuyang asked expressionlessly, "What do you want to say?"
Li Yichen held the handcrafted fox pendant, a smile playing on his lips, his voice cheerful: "This is a gift from Fu Mei."

Song Yi said, "Your skin is so prone to leaving marks."
Chu Ruofu smiled and said, "It's okay, I'm not in pain."
Song Yi quite liked Chu Ruofu and said, "The kitchen is a bit busy, could you help cut some fruit?"
"Of course you can." Chu Ruofu went over to help.
The two went to the kitchen together.
Gu Junsheng was cooking when he heard Chu Ruofu and Song Yi talking. He couldn't help but glance at her.
Unaware, Chu Ruofu opened the refrigerator, took out the fruit, washed it all, peeled it, and cut it into even small pieces.
Song Yi came over and took a look, saying, "That's about enough. I don't have time to do it, so you can juice these fruits."
Chu Ruofu went to get the juicer and washed it. Then she poured all the fruit in to make juice. She couldn't find a container for the juice, so she turned around and asked, "What should we use to put it in?"
Gu Junsheng came to her side, reached into the cabinet and took out a glass container, placed it in front of her, and said in a light voice, "The juicer's original juice container is broken, so you can use this water pitcher."
"Oh, okay." Chu Ruofu picked up the glass pot and placed it at the spout.
Gu Junsheng went back to continue stir-frying the hot dishes.
Chu Ruofu had never made juice by hand before. Looking at the juicer, she didn't know which setting to use, as there were no instructions on the setting or timer.
She was at a loss. She washed her hands, picked up her phone, and was about to search when she heard Lu Xubai's voice in her ear, "When making juice, add cold water, set it to the lowest setting for soft fruits, and the second setting for hard fruits."
Chu Ruofu looked up at him and said, "Thank you."
Lu Xubai glanced at the fruit that had been put in and said, "Don't cut the apples, and don't juice them with the soft fruits."
"Ah." Chu Ruofu quickly took the juice pot off the table, looking for gloves so she could separate the fruits inside.
Gu Junsheng handed over a stainless steel clip and said, "Use this."
Chu Ruofu glanced at him gratefully, carefully picking out the fruit pieces to separate them. Lu Xubai moved closer to her, his voice low: "Soft fruit only needs to be juiced for thirty seconds to a minute."
As Chu Ruofu picked up some fruit, she asked, "What about the apples? How long should they be juiced?"
Lu Xubai said, "One to five minutes."
"Okay, I got it." Chu Ruofu sorted the fruits and started adding drinking water to make juice.
She stared intently at the juicer, while Lu Xubai beside her lowered his voice and asked, "What did Shen Wuyang give you?"
Chu Ruofu looked up at Lu Xubai and said, "A book."
Lu Xubai asked in a cold tone, "You like reading?"
Ever since Chu Ruofu made it clear to him that he was not allowed to kiss her without her consent and that he needed to maintain boundaries, he had been suppressing his feelings of affection. When he saw other male guests getting close to her, jealousy erupted like a volcano, overwhelming his reason.
Chu Ruofu nodded and said, "I don't read many paper books. Nowadays, everyone prefers to read on their phones."
Lu Xubai asked, "What kind of books do you like to read?"
Chu Ruofu thought for a moment, not daring to say in front of the camera that she loved reading melodramatic romance novels like "Hate and Love in the Sea" and "The Domineering CEO Falls in Love with Me," which featured forced love.
Seeing her hesitation, Lu Xubai didn't ask any more questions. He reached out and helped her move the freshly squeezed juice aside, opened the lid, and let her put the apple chunks in directly.
Chu Ruofu couldn't help but glance at his cold and stern face.
The two remained silent, the hum of the juicer disturbing their heartbeats.

Just as Chu Ruofu was about to pick up the juice, Lu Xubai gently stopped her hand and said, "I'll do it."
Just as Chu Ruofu was about to rinse the juicer, a hand with distinct knuckles reached out and took the things from her hand, saying, "Go sit in the restaurant, I'll take care of this."
Chu Ruofu said, "I'll do it myself."
Gu Junsheng said in a deep voice, "I'll wash it. The blade is too sharp; I'm worried you'll cut your hand."
Chu Ruofu thanked him for his thoughtfulness: "Thank you, I'll go to the restaurant now."
As she left, she glanced back. The man wore gold-rimmed glasses on his high, straight nose, his eyes were lowered, and he had a cool, aloof demeanor, exuding a mature, married air.
