Chapter 19: Uneasy "Who bullied you?"
It was already three quarters of an hour later when He Jiuyue had rested.
She climbed through the window and entered the house swiftly, and saw Wen Zheliu holding a hot water bottle and waiting for her quietly. He was so well-behaved that he looked like a painting of a beautiful woman living a peaceful life. She couldn't help but hug him and started to nibble on him again.
Wen Zheliu originally wanted to push He Jiuyue away, but his legs were weak, so he had to give in half-heartedly.
The two of them made a mess for a while, and even Wen Zheliu, whose hands and feet were cold, was sweating. He lay on He Jiuyue's chest, gasping for breath, and listening to her strong and powerful heartbeat, which was much faster than usual.
"The princess is busy with many things and shouldn't waste her time on slavery. It's time to go to court. Please go quickly."
Wen Zheliu was still tired, and his breathing was light and rapid, occasionally splashing on He Jiuyue's exposed skin.
"Chen Sanxi was acting strangely yesterday. If you let me mess things up again today, I'm afraid there will be a huge uproar in the city."
"Just make a fuss, why bother so much about what others think?"
He Jiuyue played with his black hair and said, "I am happy to spoil you. They can say whatever they want."
Wen Zheliu wanted to turn over and get down, but his hands were too weak.
He tried several times but fell helplessly into He Jiuyue's shoulder.
"Rumors can be fatal. Princess, please don't let your reputation be ruined by slavery."
"Do I still have a good reputation? You criticized me for indulging in beauty in front of everyone, but no one agreed. It's not that you were wrong, but they just didn't dare to offend me."
He Jiuyue placed delicate kisses on his back: "To die under the peony flowers, even as a ghost, I will be romantic."
The soreness and numbness invaded him, and his back and waist suddenly stiffened.
"Ugh, don't touch there!"
It was clearly a scolding, but his red eyes and coquettish expression made it seem more like an invitation.
Wen Zheliu has two dimples on his waist, which are extremely sensitive. Ever since He Jiuyue discovered that his face would turn red whenever she touched the dimples, her hands have been rooted there, poking specifically there.
"Itchy?" Her smile deepened.
Wen Zheliu was so embarrassed that she couldn't speak, and she started panting as soon as she opened her mouth.
"Well, you are bullying me again."
The water shimmers, and in the dim candlelight, it glows an alluring light, like a deep pool that beckons people to explore.
He Jiuyue was longing for it, but Wen Zheliu held her back with his hand.
"Slave, there is something I want to say, but I don't know whether I should say it or not."
His waist and legs were sore and he gasped for breath after speaking.
He Jiuyue licked his hand: "You say."
He shuddered again when he heard about Zheliu.
If he had known Wuhuan was so wild in bed, he shouldn't have seduced her!
"Forgive me for being blunt, but the current emperor is mediocre, far inferior to you. You command tens of thousands of elite soldiers, so why do you submit to being inferior to Emperor Jingming? You even resort to pretending to be a playboy to deceive her?"
He Jiuyue didn't expect him to talk about official business at such an ambiguous time and was stunned for a moment.
"...Do you know what you are saying?"
"I know, I just can't help being angry."
Wen Zheliu withdrew his hand quietly.
"Bandits are rampant in the southeast, and suppressing them is our top priority. However, the current emperor is only concerned with balancing the government and the opposition, and it is inappropriate to imprison you in the capital."
He Jiuyue had thought about doing the opposite.
But in the long run, this is not a good time.
"The war in the west has just ended, and the banditry in the southeast has begun again. The other generals in the court are unable to handle the heavy responsibility. I will not feel at ease unless I go there in person.
"The country cannot be without a ruler for a day. If I seize her throne now, the capital will inevitably be in turmoil.
"The various princes are watching covetously, and the people of the southeast are suffering. Rather than fighting her to the death in the capital, it would be better to quell the bandits in the southeast first."
He Jiuyue lowered her eyes: "Besides, my father and younger brother are still in their fiefdom...still under her control."
Wen Zheliu sat astride her legs, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
"My Lady, you are absolutely right. You have relatives in Pingyang County, but Pingyang County is heavily guarded by the Emperor. If you go there rashly, you will probably alert the enemy. However, as far as I know, the official road to the south of the Yangtze River passes through Pingyang County. Perhaps you can take this opportunity to visit Pingyang."
He Jiuyue frowned slowly.
"As far as I know, you've never been to Jiangnan. How do you know this?"
Hearing the willow being cut, my heart skipped a beat.
Oh no, he had already planned a way for Wuhuan to seize power and usurp the throne, and even took her father and brother who were far away in Pingyang County into consideration, but he forgot to think about the right time to tell He Jiuyue.
When he first entered the mansion, he was angry that she went to find Xiaoqing, so he didn't give her any advice.
Now that they were in a state of sexual bliss, he accidentally let the cat out of the bag in order to escape his favor...
It's full of loopholes.
He Wen and the other person were in a stalemate. Wen Zheliu bit her lip and was about to make up a story when Chen Jin's voice sounded outside.
"Princess, it's time to go to court!"
Chen Jin thought that He Jiuyue was resting her head in the arms of a gentle woman, and was afraid that she didn't know what day it was, so he called her half a minute in advance.
Seeing Zheliu's avoidance of thought, He Jiuyue was filled with doubts. Just as he was about to press him, he remembered his own promise not to force him again.
She couldn't do the soft thing, and she couldn't do the hard thing either. He Jiuyue had no way to deal with Wen Zheliu, so she had to push this annoying little goblin away.
"We'll discuss this later."
Wen Zheliu immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Wuhuan didn't have the habit of launching a surprise attack. He always solved problems on the spot. If she didn't ask, it meant that she would not pursue the matter.
It's just...she trusts him so much?
When Wen Zheliu thought about his identity being exposed and He Jiuyue would no longer be so gentle to him, he became uneasy and his empty stomach began to twist in protest.
"Why are you so pale? Do you have a toothache again?"
He Jiyue caressed his cheek: "If it hurts, go find Wu Yang, don't be afraid to seek medical treatment."
Wen Zheliu struggled to squeeze out four words from between his teeth.
"The tooth doesn't hurt anymore."
What he said was not necessarily false, it was just that the pain did not disappear, but moved to the stomach and abdomen.
"Even if it doesn't hurt, you should see it."
Unable to forget the look of Wen Zheliu who was sweating in pain and tossing and turning in the middle of the night, He Jiuyue turned her head and instructed Chen Jin.
"Call Wu Yang."
"Envoy Wu has returned home," Chen Jin stared at the wooden board, not daring to look up. "He said that the husband at home was making a big fuss."
Wen Zheliu didn't want to see Wu Yang, so he hurriedly said, "Then there's no need to trouble Envoy Wu to make another trip."
"It's alright, I can come back to see you next time."
He lay barefoot on the bed, his jade-white soles stepping on the snow-like wool blanket, complementing each other perfectly.
"I'll take it to you." He pulled the fox fur hanging on the rack and put it on.
“No need.”
It was just dawn, the coldest time of the day. How could He Jiuyue bear to let him send her off?
"It's windy outside, please stay in the inner room."
He Jiuyue didn't bring any light with her, nor did she take the candlestick with her. But when Wen Zheliu sat back on the edge of the bed, she felt that the room had become dark.
Good sleep.
Wen Zheliu rolled over several times on the bed, wantonly feeling the remaining warmth of He Jiuyue, and slowly raised his lips.
He not only worked hard on the couch, but also offered advice in his spare time. He was much better than Xiaoqing, who was always jealous and asked for double the charcoal. It was not like he was eating the rice of the Princess's Mansion for nothing. He turned over and lay down where He Jiuyue had lain. Just as he was about to fall asleep in the dim light, he was woken by the cold wind that squeezed in through the window, and his mind became clear.
Oh no, he forgot to ask her when she would leave.
The letter he sent yesterday has not received a reply yet. He can't just leave like this!
It snowed last night, and in the early morning there were still white grains of snow on the road. He Jiyue did not ride on the clouds, but took a sedan chair to go to court.
At the court meeting, Emperor Jingming sat on the throne and spoke passionately, but apart from announcing that he would let her lead troops to suppress the bandits, all he said were boring repetitive words.
He Jiuyue was tormented by Wen Zheliu last night and didn't sleep well to begin with. She tried to hold back and not yawn in front of the civil and military officials.
Finally, the court was over and she was about to go home, but was stopped by Guan Ze.
"Princess, may I speak further?"
This was unfortunate, as she was just about to ask Guan Ze for advice on how to control men.
"Okay." He Jiuyue was still anxious to return to the mansion to see Wen Zheliu. It was rare that she wasn't stopped by Emperor Jingming, so she didn't want to delay even a moment. "Let's talk while we walk."
Guan Ze said bluntly, "I heard that your servant, Xiaoqing, was poisoned by a strange poison from Western Yue. Would you allow me to go and see her?"
He Jiyue waved her hand: "They said he was poisoned, but I didn't see anything really wrong with him. It was just a way to win favor."
Guan Ze rubbed his chin with his fingertips.
"But you've lived in the Western Regions for a long time. You've never even seen this poison before. How could it have gotten into Xiaoqing's body? And if it's a strange poison, why did Xiaoqing recover so quickly? There's something fishy about this."
When He Jiuyue heard this, she also thought it made sense.
"Then please come with me to the Princess's Mansion. I have something to ask you."
"Ask me? Princess, please feel free to speak. I am all ears."
He Jiuyue cleared his throat.
"I... have a friend who often makes her husband angry. He's stubborn and ignores everyone when he's angry. Even though she's tried to coax him into submission, she still doesn't understand why he's angry."
"That depends on the situation."
Guan Ze looked into her eyes and said, "But what did she do that her husband didn't like?"
He Jiuyue shook his head in confusion.
"No, she didn't do anything. They were just talking, and her husband got angry."
"Just talking? That might be because your friend used the wrong words... But, it also depends on her husband's personality."
He Jiyue was fascinated by what he said: "What do you mean?"
"A pampered cat is as good as a tamed eagle."
Guan Ze shared his experience and said, "My princess, you don't know this. As the saying goes, a man's heart is like a needle in the sea. Sometimes they pretend to be angry, but they are actually just being coquettish and want you to coax them."
"Then how can I comfort him? And how can I tell if he's really angry or just pretending to be angry?"
"Try coaxing him a few times first. If that works, it's probably fake. Just words won't do. You have to spend money to buy him something. That should be the real energy."
He Jiyue humbly asked: "What if giving him money doesn't help?"
"Then... we need to give him the cold shoulder. Dozens of handsome men will take turns pampering him in front of him, so that he can recognize his status and temper his character."
He Jiuyue really didn't want to make dumplings for Dicu.
One Xiaoqing is already noisy enough, if there are dozens more, wouldn’t her princess’s mansion be in chaos?
"What if I only want to touch him?"
Guan Ze narrowed his eyes and said, "The princess really knows this friend very well. However, as far as I know, Chen Jin, with his straightforward personality, would not have been so entangled if he encountered such a thing. But the princess doesn't have anyone else around her.
"The friend you are talking about, could it be you, the princess?"
From the moment He Jiuyue started disguising herself, she knew that one day the sharp-eyed Guan Ze would see through her disguise, but she didn't expect it to happen so soon.
“…It’s me.”
Guan Ze's eyes rolled: "Are you worried about Xiaoqing?"
"No," He Jiyue wanted to throw Xiaoqing back to the Minister of Revenue in the same state, "It's Wen Zheliu."
Guan Ze became serious.
"I heard that Zheliu is beautiful, but there are many suspicious things about her. I think you shouldn't get too involved."
He Jiuyue didn't care.
"He stays in my room all day, what could possibly happen?"
Guan Ze thought for a moment and said, "After I go see Xiaoqing, will it be convenient for me to go see him?"
"become."
The two chatted all the way back to the main gate of the Princess's Mansion, and He Jiuyue was stopped by Chen Jin who was rushing out.
"Princess, you're finally back. Wen Shijun is making a fuss about going out! He says he absolutely has to leave the house. He's in a precious state, and we can't stop him. Look..."
Guan Ze came here for serious business. She talked about Wen Zheliu on the way just to clear up He Jiuyue's doubts. When she heard that He Jiuyue's backyard was in chaos, she immediately took a step back and stated that she would not interfere in her family affairs.
"It is inconvenient for me to go to the backyard. I will wait for you in the front hall."
When He Jiuyue heard the three words "Wen Zhe Liu", he became obsessed and just replied with a perfunctory "OK" before hurriedly rushing to the side hall.
"It's so cold, why are you going outside to enjoy the breeze?"
Wen Zheliu leaned against the door with his clothes fluttering.
The lower half of his face was hidden in the plush edge of the fox fur coat, and the corners of his eyes were red, not sure if it was because he was cold, or because he felt wronged after several failed struggles.
"It's stuffy in the room."
Hearing his tearful tone, He Jiuyue felt a lot soft-hearted.
"Who bullied you?"
