Chapter 302: Past Buddha

“Focus on investigation.”

Another hour passed, and suddenly they felt the emotions in their memories surge. Just like a heartbeat sensor, the originally calm heartbeat surged by several hundred.

Everyone was awed, and they all simultaneously sent their spiritual senses in. The surroundings spun for a while, and in a flash they arrived at a treasure hall.

It was raining heavily outside. A little monk was lying at the door. In front of him was an ancient Buddha with a green lamp, and four people were sitting in the candlelight.

Outside this palace, there was a void in the distance. Du Shi suddenly appeared, his eyes looking into the distant memories. He wanted to move forward but was stopped by an unknown force.

"Amitabha."

Du Shi muttered something in a low voice, and then waited quietly there.

The Great Leiyin Palace.

Du Shi slightly opened his eyes, and seeing the six visitors, he couldn't help but smile and said, "Six donors, what is the purpose of your visit today?"

Can he see us?

The soul-searching team was suddenly startled and took half a step back, with shock and fear on their faces.

Logically speaking, this is a memory, and they didn't hypnotize Du Shi to enter the memory to assist in the investigation, nor did they conduct a deep dive. In other words, what was in front of them was just a phantom, and it was impossible to communicate with them.

The captain asked tentatively: "Master, is that you?"

Du Shi replied, "Buddha has no form, I have no form, where is the truth, and where is me? This is me, and the one outside is also me, but I am the me of the past."

Buddha of the past?

The soul-searching team members have all received orthodox Xuanmen education. Perhaps they will never reach that level, but they still understand some things about cultivation. In addition, their special profession of searching souls means they can always come into contact with reincarnations.

There are three kinds of Buddhas, namely all Buddhas of the past, present and future.

The Past Buddha here can be interpreted as the previous life, but why do so many powerful people have no self in their previous lives, but only Master Du Shi’s memory calls himself the Past Buddha?

Could it be the unique soul structure of Buddhist masters?

The captain put aside his inner doubts and continued his work. He bowed slightly and said respectfully, "Master..."

"Don't worship." The Buddha of the Past shook his head slightly, and time seemed to have reversed, with everyone's actions returning to a few seconds ago.

"The present Buddha should not be worshipped by the past Buddha. The past is the fixed afterglow, the present is the unshakable true Buddha, and the future is the unknown Buddha. It is not in accordance with the way of heaven for donors to worship me."

"Master, I am not a Buddha."

“Everyone can be a Buddha. Buddha is in the heart.”

“…”

The captain pulled the corner of his mouth, stopped arguing, and went straight to the point: "Master, how did you die?"

In such a situation, the only way left for them is to ask for help. It is impossible to expect them to control the Buddha of the past in front of them.

"Without a self, without others, without sentient beings, without a lifespan, how can death come about?"

The Buddha of the Past shook his head in denial, and then his half-closed eyes seemed to be able to see through people's hearts and predict the future. He added: "The death that the donor is looking for should be the death of the body and soul, not the death of heaven and earth."

"And Watari, he committed suicide."

The soul-searching captain's pupils shrank slightly, his breathing became slightly heavier, and he quickly asked, "Why did you commit suicide?"

"Because of Li Changsheng."

In the past, the Buddha raised his hand and pointed to himself on the right. There was no mercy or calmness on his face, only endless greed.

He said: "He is greedy. He is greedy for the words of Lin Zi, the truth of heaven and earth, and the power of immortals."

He moved his finger toward the middle, and the facial features of himself in front of him stretched out, his face full of rage and murderous intent, and the cracked corners of his mouth revealed raw teeth and saliva.

"He was angry. He was angry that he could not attain the status of a true Buddha, and that he did not fight for it. He was angry that the immortal had the opportunity to achieve enlightenment, but he did not achieve it, leaving him with nothing but wishful thinking."

The finger moved to the left. Although the self on the left side no longer had any expression on his face, his eyes were wide open, as if their eyeballs were about to pop out.

The obsession in his eyes seemed to turn into bloodshot and occupy the whites of his eyes.

The three thoughts of greed, anger and ignorance are the three poisons, three defilements and three fires.

"These are all sins. He saved the world but could not save himself. He believed that as long as immortals existed in the world, no one would be able to become a Buddha, because heaven and earth had already reserved a place for Li Changsheng."

"Greedy, angry, and ignorant, he is unwilling to give up. He wants to give it a try and finally end his life by himself, but he dares not compete with Li Changsheng. If he competes, he may be able to achieve the state of no form."

The cause of Du Shi's death in his previous life was told in such a casual manner.
