Chapter 123 Su Luoxue awakens and is named

Yuwen Che stayed by Guanju Palace every step of the way, only making a few hurried visits to the Second Prince and the little princess, who were being carefully cared for by their wet nurse. Although the two children were frail, their condition was relatively stable.

Su Luoxue remained unconscious on the bed for two whole days, during which time Yuwen Che barely ate or drank anything, and he became much more haggard.

On the morning of the third day, Su Luoxue's long eyelashes trembled slightly, and she finally slowly opened her eyes.

Yuwen Che, who had been holding her hand tightly, immediately noticed and excitedly leaned down to softly call out, "Xue'er? Xue'er, you're awake?"

Su Luoxue's eyes were somewhat dazed and unfocused. After a moment of adjustment to the light, she could make out the haggard face of the person in front of her. She opened her mouth, wanting to speak, but only managed to utter a very weak and hoarse sound: "Ah... Che..."

"I'm here! I'm here!" Yuwen Che replied hastily, his voice choked with the joy of regaining what he had lost. He carefully supported her shoulders. "Don't rush to speak. You've been unconscious for two days and you're very weak."

He turned to Fuling, who was standing guard nearby, and said urgently, "Quick! Go and bring over the warm ginseng soup and congee!"

"Yes! This servant will go right away!" Fuling was overjoyed and cried tears of joy, and hurriedly ran to prepare.

Granny Zhang, her eyes also red, stepped forward: "Your Highness, you've finally woken up... Thank God..."

Su Luoxue blinked weakly, her gaze slowly sweeping across her surroundings, as if searching for something.

Yuwen Che immediately understood her thoughts and said gently, "Don't worry, the children are all fine. Your son and daughter are with their wet nurse and are being well taken care of. Once you feel better, I will have them come to see you."

Hearing that the children were safe and sound, Su Luoxue finally felt relieved and nodded gently.

Fu Ling quickly brought over a warm ginseng soup.

Yuwen Che carefully helped Su Luoxue up, letting her weak body lean against him. He took the soup bowl, tested the temperature himself, scooped up a spoonful, and brought it to her lips, coaxing her softly, "Xue'er, be good, open your mouth and drink some ginseng soup so you'll have energy."

Su Luoxue obediently opened her mouth slightly and swallowed the ginseng soup in small sips.

Yuwen Che was very patient, feeding her spoonful by spoonful, and occasionally wiping the corners of her mouth gently with a handkerchief: "Drink slowly, don't rush."

After finishing half a bowl of ginseng soup, Su Luoxue gently shook her head, "I can't drink anymore."

Yuwen Che didn't force her. He put down the bowl and looked down at her, saying, "Alright, if you can't drink it, then don't. I'll have the wet nurse bring the children over for you to see."

He looked up at Granny Zhang and instructed, "Quickly, have the wet nurse bring the prince and princess here."

"Yes," Zhang Mama immediately went to the side hall to deliver the message.

A short while later, the two wet nurses came in quietly, carrying two tiny swaddled babies.

Yuwen Che took his daughter from the wet nurse and carefully held her in front of Su Luoxue: "Xue'er, look, this is our daughter. Although she is a little thin, the imperial physician said she is very healthy."

He then gestured for the wet nurse to bring her son closer: "This is our son. His birth was a bit dangerous, but thankfully he's alright now."

Looking at the two tiny, rosy-cheeked children in front of her, Su Luoxue's eyes instantly welled up with tears. She reached out her trembling hand and gently touched her daughter's face, then stroked the edge of her son's swaddling clothes.

“They…are so good…” Her voice choked with emotion, filled with boundless joy.

Yuwen Che watched her tears fall, his heart aching and softening. He handed his daughter to the wet nurse and held her hand tightly: "Yes, they are all doing well, just like you. Xue'er, thank you... thank you for being alive, thank you for bringing our child to my side."

Su Luoxue leaned against Yuwen Che's chest, tears still streaming down her face.

Yuwen Che tenderly wiped away her tears and gently coaxed her, "Alright, don't cry. The imperial physician said you can't get emotional right now. You need to rest well and recover your health; that's the most important thing."

He gently patted her back and whispered, "From now on... from now on, I will never let you suffer the pain of childbirth again."

Su Luoxue, still shaken by the excruciating pain of childbirth, nodded with a heavy nasal tone, her voice filled with unease: "Mmm..."

Yuwen Che continued to soothe her: "Alright, alright, let's not cry anymore. Once you're all healthy and plump, you can cry however you want, and I'll be there for you, okay?"

Su Luoxue was both amused and exasperated by his comforting words, and playfully punched him lightly: "How can you comfort someone like that..."

When Yuwen Che saw that she had finally stopped crying, and was still a little irritable, he smiled genuinely and quickly admitted his mistake: "Alright, alright, it's my fault for being stupid and not knowing how to speak."

He paused, his tone becoming gentle yet solemn: "However, there is something important I need to discuss with you. I have already thought of a few names for our child, and I am just waiting for you to wake up so I can ask for your opinion."

Upon hearing this, Su Luoxue's eyes lit up, and she looked up at him: "Really? What name did you choose?"

Yuwen Che said to Li Dehai, "Go to the Sizheng Hall and fetch the Xuan paper on which I wrote my name a few days ago."

"This old servant will go right away." Li Dehai hurriedly went to fetch it.

Yuwen Che then said to Fuling, "Go and fetch a basin of warm water and a clean cloth to wipe the Empress's face first." He looked down at Su Luoxue, his tone teasing and indulgent, "Look at you, crying like a little kitten."

"Are you going to dislike it just because it's a kitten?"

"How dare I, your husband?"

Fu Ling quickly brought over warm water and carefully washed Su Luoxue's face.

At this moment, Li Dehai returned with the sheet of Xuan paper bearing several names written on it. Yuwen Che reached out and took it, unfolding it in front of Su Luoxue.

“My son is the older brother, he was born first. I’ve thought of a few names,” he said, pointing to the characters in front of him, “Yuwen Jin, Yuwen Zhang, and Yuwen Cheng’an.”

He then pointed to the back: "My daughter is my younger sister. I have chosen Yuwen Yao, Yuwen Wei, and Yuwen Tingxue. What do you think, which one do you prefer?"

Su Luoxue leaned against him, her gaze gently sweeping over the words as she pondered them carefully.
