Chapter 140 Vomiting Blood and Fainting
Yuwen Hao, clutching the little wooden horse, felt uneasy and quietly turned back after walking a short distance. As soon as he returned, he saw Su Luoxue lying motionless on the ground, with glaring bloodstains at the corner of her mouth and on the ground in front of her!
"Mother!" Yuwen Hao was terrified. He threw down the wooden horse and rushed to Su Luoxue's side, shaking her violently. "Mother! Mother, wake up! Mother!"
Su Luoxue did not react.
"Granny... Aunt Fuling..." Yuwen Hao cried, looking around frantically, but there was no one there. Overwhelmed by fear, he suddenly remembered something, turned around, and ran desperately towards the palace, shouting in a sob, "Father! Father—!"
Inside the palace, Yuwen Che was awakened by the cries and shouts outside. He rubbed his dizzy temples and asked with displeasure, "Who is making such a fuss outside?"
Li Dehai rushed in: "Your Majesty, it's the First Prince. He seems to have something urgent to discuss with me."
Yuwen Che glanced at his empty side. Xue'er wasn't there? He got up and had the palace servants help him put on his shoes and outer robe. After tying his belt, he ordered, "Let him in."
Li Dehai quickly brought Yuwen Hao, who was crying his eyes out, inside.
Upon seeing him, Yuwen Hao knelt down with a thud and cried incoherently, "Father! Mother... Mother is bleeding so much! Your son can't wake her!"
Yuwen Che's pupils contracted sharply, and he bent down abruptly to grab Yuwen Hao's thin shoulders, his voice rising abruptly: "Who did you just say was bleeding? Say it again! Who was it?!"
Yuwen Hao trembled with fright, pointed outside, and cried so hard he could barely breathe: "It's Mother...it's Mother! I saw her vomiting blood. She told me not to tell anyone and asked me to take care of Cheng'an and Ning'er...but when I went back to find her, she was lying on the ground with lots of blood...I can't wake her up, Father!"
Yuwen Che was struck dumb, frozen in place. How could this be? Just moments ago… they were still entwined in tenderness…
"Han Ying!" He snapped back to reality, shoved aside the palace servants who were still adjusting his robes, and stormed out of the bedchamber like a madman, his roar shattering the tranquility of Guanju Palace, "Quickly, summon all the imperial physicians for me! Quickly—!"
Yuwen Che staggered to the corner and immediately saw Su Luoxue lying on the ground, her face pale and her mouth still stained with bright red blood.
"Xue'er!" His heart stopped. He rushed over and carefully lifted her up, holding her in his arms. His fingers trembled as he checked her breath—it was so faint that he could barely feel it.
"Xue'er! Xue'er, wake up! Look at me! Xue'er!" Yuwen Che patted her cheek, his voice filled with unprecedented panic, but the person in his arms did not respond.
He dared not delay any longer, scooped Su Luoxue up in his arms, and ran wildly toward the bedchamber, shouting fiercely at the empty surroundings as he ran, his voice almost splitting apart: "Where is the imperial physician?! Where did the imperial physician go?! Get over here now! Quickly—!"
Fuling and the nanny also rushed over upon hearing the commotion. When they saw the Empress, who was being held in the Emperor's arms, unconscious and with blood at the corner of her mouth, they were all terrified.
"Your Majesty!"
"Quickly, urge the imperial physician!"
Yuwen Che rushed into the bedchamber, carefully placing Su Luoxue on the bed. He held her hand tightly, the icy touch sending chills down his spine. He roared furiously at Li Dehai, who followed him in, "Li Dehai! If the imperial physicians don't come soon, I'll chop off their heads!"
"They're here! Your Majesty, the imperial physicians have arrived!" Li Dehai scrambled in, leading several panting imperial physicians carrying medicine chests.
"Quickly! Save her for me! If you can't save her, you will all be buried with her!" Yuwen Che's eyes were bloodshot, like a trapped beast driven to the brink of despair. He suddenly moved aside, but still stared intently at the person on the bed.
The imperial physicians were so frightened by the scene that they forgot all about etiquette and hurriedly surrounded her. The head physician, Wang, placed his trembling hand on Su Luoxue's wrist to take her pulse.
Upon this examination, his face instantly turned deathly pale, and cold sweat poured down his back.
"How is it?!" Yuwen Che asked urgently.
Wang, the Imperial Physician, knelt down with a thud, his voice trembling uncontrollably: "Your Majesty... Her Majesty's pulse... Her pulse is extremely weak and disordered, as if a cold, deadly poison is eroding her heart meridian, and her life... her life is rapidly slipping away! Your Majesty... Your Majesty and we... are helpless!"
"Helpless?!" Yuwen Che grabbed Wang Yuanpan by the collar and lifted him up, his eyes filled with terror. "What use are you to me! Save her! I order you to save her!"
"Your Majesty, spare us! The poison that the Empress has been afflicted with... is unprecedented, extremely potent, and we... have no way to treat it!" The other imperial physicians also knelt down and kowtowed.
Just as chaos and despair were at their peak, a white figure swept into the hall like a whirlwind.
"let me see!"
Yuwen Che turned his head sharply and saw Bai Xiao burst into the hall. His brows furrowed, and his tone was filled with shock, anger, and confusion: "You? Bai Xiao? What are you doing here?"
At this moment, he was in a state of utter confusion and did not think carefully about why Bai Xiao would suddenly appear in the forbidden area of the inner palace.
Bai Xiao had no time to explain. He pushed aside the kneeling imperial physician, rushed to the bedside, and said urgently, "There's no time for this now! Let me see her!"
Although Yuwen Che was puzzled, he knew that Bai Xiao's medical skills were superb, far surpassing those of the people in the Imperial Hospital. At this moment, he could not care about anything else and immediately stepped aside, keeping a close eye on his movements: "Hurry!"
Bai Xiao quickly checked Su Luoxue's pulse, examined her eyelids, and felt the temperature on the side of her neck. His expression grew increasingly grim. Sure enough… the Soul-Guarding Gu had taken effect, frantically devouring her life force!
He turned sharply and shouted at Yuwen Che and everyone in the room, "Everyone out! Now! Immediately!"
Yuwen Che's pupils contracted: "Bai Xiao!"
"If you don't want her to die, listen to me! Get out!" Bai Xiao practically roared, his eyes filled with an unprecedented sternness and urgency. "Li Dehai, guard the palace gates. No one is allowed to approach! Including you, Yuwen Che, you get out too!"
Yuwen Che was stunned by the resolute look in his eyes. Looking at Su Luoxue, whose breath was growing weaker and weaker on the bed, he gritted his teeth, finally hardened his heart, and waved to everyone: "All of you, step back!"
The imperial physicians and palace servants, as if granted a pardon, scrambled out. Li Dehai quickly closed the palace doors and personally stood guard outside.
Yuwen Che took a deep look at the person on the bed, then at Bai Xiao, and finally retreated to the outer hall, pacing anxiously like a trapped beast, each second feeling like torture.
Inside the bedchamber, Bai Xiao no longer hesitated. He immediately took out the silver needle pouch he always carried with him and, with lightning speed, pierced several silver needles into several acupoints around Su Luoxue's body, trying to protect her last thread of life and slow the loss of her vitality.
He looked at Su Luoxue's pale face and whispered through gritted teeth, "Su Luoxue... hold on... you can't die like this..."
"If you really die, Yuwen Che will chop me into mincemeat and feed me to the dogs."
