Chapter 348 Learning makes me happy!

Zhu Yunying was speechless. Could it be that his precious son was a poor student?

Such things can actually happen. Some children simply don't like reading and fall asleep as soon as they see a book. Especially children like Xiao Zhu, whose teachers dare not discipline or speak up. Even when they offer suggestions, they have to beat around the bush.

Scratching his head, Zhu Yunying grew anxious. "We can't say too much about this. Let's wait and see. We don't expect Yin'er to be a scholar of great learning, but we do hope he has some ability. Everything else is manageable. Character is the most important thing, and we can't be careless about this. Keep a close eye on the people around him!"

After saying this, Zhu Yunying stood up. "Wang Chengen, send someone to the Qing Palace. We'll be there right away."

Xu Miaoqing immediately stood up and asked, "Your Majesty, is it still time to go?"

“In the past, we would have had to discuss this with our grandfather again.” Zhu Yunying was also helpless, the imperial power was too strong, “The future of our country still depends on Yin’er. There are some things we cannot be careless about.”

When Wang Chengen immediately sent someone to report to the Qianqing Palace, naturally no concubines of Emperor Zhu would appear along the way.

Zhu Yunying arrived at Little Zhu's palace and exchanged a glance with Xu Miaoqing. Zhu Yunying truly didn't know what to say. Little Zhu had played wildly all day and was now fast asleep, and to make matters worse, he had no sleeping posture whatsoever.

Well, Joo Yoon-young didn't intend to say anything more; he felt that his demands were constantly decreasing.

When Zhu Yunying learned of Xu Miaoqing's pregnancy, he hoped his child would be intelligent and wise, believing his child to be a genius. With a little nurturing, he was sure to become a wise and benevolent ruler.

But gradually, Zhu Yunying hoped his child would be healthy and happy. Considering the special status of young Zhu, Zhu Yunying hoped his child would be more kind and generous. As for studying, the standards could actually be lowered; being an emperor wasn't like taking the imperial examination, where one didn't need to be a scholar.

Zhu Yunying, wearing a cloak, walked towards the Qianqing Palace. Shuangquan, who was waiting at the palace gate, saw Zhu Yunying coming and quickly turned around and went into the palace.

When Zhu Yunying arrived at the palace gate, the eunuch immediately opened the palace door.

"Just open a crack, don't let the wind blow in." Zhu Yunying didn't put on airs and went straight into the palace. "Shuangquan, have someone fetch some midnight snacks, let's have a drink with Grandpa Emperor."

Sitting on the couch, Old Zhu complained, "I'm old and love to sleep. We were just about to rest, what are you doing here?"

"If you miss Grandfather, come and have a drink," Zhu Yunying urged. "Light some charcoal, it's cool at night! If you can't bear to part with it, we'll have someone keep an eye on things here from now on."

Old Zhu stood up with a chuckle and said, "A cup of wine will warm me up, and a little wine will help me sleep soundly."

“Grandfather, we’ve come here because we have a favor to ask.” Zhu Yunying helped the old Zhu get dressed and said, “I was just talking with the Empress about how Yin’er was dozing off when he started his studies. That kid is just like his second uncle.”

Old Zhu was initially pleased, as he knew perfectly well what his great-grandson was like at school. He was practically yawning the moment he saw a book, and the restless little Zhu would become energetic and playful on the school grounds after class, never seeming to tire.

However, Emperor Zhu also understood the young prince's identity. It was not good news that the crown prince was so playful and disliked studying.

Zhu Yunying didn't hide anything, saying, "I'm not exactly an expert in poetry and literature, but I know the general stuff. Yin'er is still young, but we can't just ignore him like this. If he's playful when he's young, I reckon he'll find it hard to be studious when he grows up."

Old Zhu nodded and said, "That makes sense. We don't need him to be a perfect student, but he should still learn. Even when we were fighting wars, we were taught to read by teachers. If you don't read and don't understand principles, you can't govern the country."

That's exactly the point. Old Zhu was a true peasant; he could barely read when he was a young monk. In the years that followed, even while fighting, he continued to study and never dared to slack off.

Xiao Zhu was similar; although he was precocious, he still needed to study. He always believed that knowledge could change one's destiny, and that the so-called "uselessness of studying" was just a load of nonsense and fallacy in Zhu Yunying's opinion.

But now, the grandfather and grandson, who love learning, are a little worried because little Zhu doesn't seem to have inherited their good genes!
