Chapter 730 Trust and Favor

Zhu Yunying and Xu Miaoqing watched without stopping Little Zhu from taking Zhu Wenkun out to play. Actually, there was nothing to worry about. Although Little Zhu was taking him out, there would be palace maids and eunuchs, governesses, and Zhu Wenkun's wet nurse with them.

So there's absolutely no need to worry. He's just running around the palace. With Little Zhu's "loved by everyone" status, there's nothing to worry about. Wherever he goes, everyone fawns over him and dotes on him.

Watching the two brothers leave, Zhu Yunying said, "If Yin'er and Wenkun could be like Yunhu and me in the future, that would be wonderful."

Xu Miaoqing quickly replied, "That's what I think too. Your Majesty and Yunwen's brotherly affection should be a model. Not to mention the royal family, even in ordinary families, many brothers have fallen out over family property."

That's exactly the point," Zhu Yunying said. "Yunhu is alright; he's never been competitive or greedy. He likes to make a fuss, and some spoiled brats are spoiled brats. We're not unhappy about it, and it's not like every child in the imperial clan has to be successful."

Xu Miaoqing was well aware of these matters. In fact, many military families were like this, placing high demands on their eldest sons, as they were the ones who would carry on the family line. If other sons, such as those born out of wedlock, were too successful or ambitious, it might not necessarily be a good thing.

"However, we're not going to raise Wenkun as a spoiled brat," Zhu Yunying said earnestly, looking at Xu Miaoqing. "We're thinking that it would be a good thing if he were more virtuous. We just need to be careful about his personality and not let him overthink things."

There may be some unfairness, but if such a thing as treating everyone equally happened in the royal family, it would actually be a bad thing.

Xu Miaoqing knew what was going on and said, "I never say anything nonsense in front of Wenkun, and I have always taught him to listen to Yin'er. Although Wenkun is still young, it is time to teach him the principles he should understand."

That's the gist of it. Although Zhu Wenkun is too young to understand these things, if we start educating him now, he might gradually understand and remember them as he grows up.

After thinking for a moment, Zhu Yunying asked in a low voice, "Have you made any preparations for what Grandfather did?"

Xu Miaoqing naturally understood and comprehended the meaning. "Your Majesty, please rest assured. All the necessary preparations have been made by the various inner court departments. As for the various ministries of the court, I have also issued decrees and reviewed some of them."

Zhu Yunying breathed a sigh of relief. Actually, there was no need to worry too much about the arrangements for Zhu Yuanzhang's funeral. Preparations had been underway for many years. In fact, it could be said that many things were being prepared at the very moment Zhu Yuanzhang ascended the throne.

So if something really happens, there's no need to worry or panic.

Even in ordinary households, some people start preparing for their funerals as they reach a certain age. Some are prepared by their children, but many elderly people start preparing on their own. Perhaps there are coffins that were prepared long ago, placed on the roof beams or in the small house.

Hearing Xu Miaoqing say this, Zhu Yunying smiled and nodded, "There's no need to worry about matters at court. Those government offices are already prepared. If anything really happens, they wouldn't dare to be disrespectful; that would be a serious offense."

That's the natural reasoning, because if something were to happen and some officials weren't prepared, it would certainly be a capital offense. They certainly wouldn't dare to be negligent in these matters.

Xu Miaoqing continued, "These past few days, the Imperial Uncle and Imperial Aunt have entered the palace one after another, and everyone is somewhat aware of this. Many people have also made some preparations in private, but they don't want to say it openly. In recent days, some court ladies have also tried to find out more, but I have sent them all away."

Zhu Yunying smiled. Such a commotion couldn't be kept secret, but he couldn't very well admit it. These things, as long as they weren't too outrageous, would be discussed casually, but really, there was no need to worry too much about the rest.

Anyway, that's what Zhu Yunying thought, and that's exactly what he did. Everyone should think about what they need to think about. But the most important thing is to do their job well in a down-to-earth manner; there's no need to think about anything else.

It's obvious that everyone knows these things; some things are truly beyond our control.

Some things are best left unsaid to family members; there's really no need to let more people know. We've made the necessary preparations, but there's no need for extensive preparations beyond that. Old Zhu is just getting on in years and doesn't seem to be in good spirits; he's not seriously ill and bedridden yet. Sometimes, no one can guarantee anything.

As Zhu Yunying and Xu Miaoqing were talking, Little Zhu led his younger brother, who couldn't walk fast, to find Zhu Ruyi. The children then happily got busy.

"Little sister, you have to use Father's handwriting!" Little Zhu said seriously, and his understanding was not too wrong. "This poem is for Second Uncle, otherwise Second Uncle will definitely cause trouble."

Zhu Ruyi was quite happy. She wrote very well. "Brother, does Father know about this? This isn't homework, so we wouldn't dare to write it carelessly."

"It was Father who sent us," Little Zhu said confidently. "The original is with His Majesty the Great-Grandfather, and it was written by me. This one is for Second Uncle, but I suppose Father won't leave his name, so you can just use Father's calligraphy."

Lian Qiongqiong, holding Zhu Wenkun, watched from the side. She actually admired Zhu Yunying's talent. However, she knew that His Majesty didn't like composing poetry. Now that His Majesty had created new poems, she was naturally more eager than anyone else to see them.

However, she was also mindful of her words and glanced at Wang Chengen. Seeing Wang Chengen nod almost imperceptibly, Lian Qiongqiong understood what was going on.
