What a beautiful couple.
Zhao Yunzhu paused and looked at the two of them, feeling a little heavy-hearted.
"Miss?"
Aunt Hua called out with worried eyes.
Zhao Yunzhu lowered her eyes, turned around, and murmured softly, "Mammy, go back."
“…”
Aunt Hua was stunned for a moment and wanted to say a few more words, but when she saw that the eldest lady had already walked away, she hurriedly chased after her.
"Miss, are we really going back like this?"
Linglong was angry and unwilling to accept it.
However, Zhao Yunzhu no longer had the heart to step forward and ask questions. She just shook her head and remained silent.
But she didn't go back directly. Instead, she went to the tent where Qin Zongzhi was resting and waited for him to come back.
I added two more cups of hot tea to my hand.
She sat blankly in the chair, looking towards the door, as if hoping to see the scenery outside through the thick curtains.
His fingers played with the teacup in his hand.
Her fingertips stroked the cup, and her thick eyelashes trembled slightly.
His face was calm, but his heart was already beating restlessly.
She didn't know how long it had been, but her legs were numb from sitting for so long.
Suddenly, a girl's cheerful laughter was heard outside the tent.
It was like a sharp needle, piercing Zhao Yunzhu's heart.
"Your Highness, I will finish the plan later today and submit it to Your Highness for your review." Wang Min's tone was a little cheerful, and he sounded like he was in a good mood.
"Miss Wang, just send it over tomorrow." Qin Zongzhi's voice was cold and indifferent.
"Your Highness, the situation is urgent and cannot be delayed. Your Highness, please do not worry about me. I am doing this for the benefit of the people."
"Oh, my Lord, you've been working so hard on the riverbank these days. I've asked my maid to make some ginseng soup for you to nourish your body, okay?"
There was a hint of expectation in Wang Min's eyes.
Qin Zongzhi wanted to politely refuse, but when he thought about the help Miss Wang had given him these days, he couldn't bring himself to speak.
He lifted the curtain and was about to go in to rest, but he saw that Miss Wang behind him had no intention of leaving.
Prince An frowned, "Miss Wang, I need to go back to change clothes and rest. Do you want to follow me?"
Wang Min choked, her cheeks flushed slightly, and her eyes avoided, "Your Highness, I'm sorry, I overstepped my bounds."
After saying that, she left as if escaping.
Qin Zongzhi had just walked into the tent, and the next second, he saw the woman sitting inside.
After hesitating for a moment, he smiled and walked towards her quickly.
Aunt Hua took Linglong and retreated to the side.
"Why are you here? You didn't even ask someone to deliver the letter. It must be a difficult journey."
Qin Zongzhi picked her up and let her sit on his lap.
A face full of pampering.
Zhao Yunzhu smiled. "I haven't seen you for a while. I was worried you weren't eating well, so I asked someone to bring some food over. Please enjoy some."
"Let's eat later. Tell me first, why did you come here so suddenly? What happened?"
Qin Zongzhi stared at her eyes seriously, hoping to find a clue from them.
"I heard some interesting things."
Zhao Yunzhu lowered his eyes and looked serious.
Qin Zongzhi was a little bewildered. "Oh? Tell me, what interesting thing happened that made you run around like this? It makes me feel sad just watching you."
"I heard that you want to ask for the title of Princess An for Miss Wang."
She joked, but there was a hint of probing in her eyes.
Qin Zongzhi frowned instantly, his face etched with anger. "Who is this blind person who is saying such nonsense? He is ruining my reputation for nothing. I will investigate and make sure he pays the price!"
Zhao Yunzhu saw that the anger in his words did not seem fake, and the uneasiness in her heart gradually subsided.
"It was just some jokes. Your Highness, why should you be so angry and take it seriously? It's not worth it. I came here today just to see Your Highness."
Zhao Yunzhu held Qin Zongzhi's face with both hands and softened her tone.
Qin Zongzhi's anger subsided a little, and he looked at her seriously and said, "Miss Wang was invited by Mr. Wang to help. There are some difficulties on the riverbank right now. Miss Wang came for the people. I don't have any personal relationship with her, so please don't misunderstand."
Prince An seemed genuinely frightened. Zhao Yunzhu had truly believed the rumors. "Don't worry, in my eyes and heart, there is only you. It always has been."
"I know."
Zhao Yunzhu smiled, but the smile in her eyes did not reach her heart.
"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have the luck I have today. I still remember that winter. If it weren't for your kindness, I would have frozen to death or starved to death on the street."
This was the first time Qin Zongzhi mentioned the past in front of her.
Zhao Yunzhu listened quietly without interrupting.
"At that time, I was thinking to myself, if I could make a name for myself in the future, I would definitely repay you well—"
But he stopped abruptly in the middle of his words.
It seemed that the following words would touch the most vulnerable part of his heart.
"Forget it, let's not talk about the past. I'm hungry. Would you like to eat something with me?"
"good."
Zhao Yunzhu called Nanny Hua and Linglong in to serve her.
The two of them left only after the table was filled with food.
There were only two of them left in the tent.
He had only taken a bite or two when he heard a message from a servant outside.
"Your Majesty, Concubine Yun, Miss Wang requests an audience."
Qin Zongzhi paused holding the chopsticks, remembering what he had just agreed to, and looked at Zhao Yunzhu again.
I was about to refuse.
Zhao Yunzhu shook her head slightly at him and said, "Please let Miss Wang in."
The curtain was drawn aside, and Miss Wang was seen standing at the door with a tray in her hands.
Although she had already prepared herself mentally, she still felt a dull pain in her heart when she saw Prince An and Concubine Yun sitting together intimately for dinner.
She forced a smile and walked into the tent, "Your Highness, Concubine Yun."
"This is the ginseng soup I ordered to be cooked. I brought it here specially for His Majesty and Concubine Yun to taste."
"Miss Wang's kindness is appreciated by you, my Lord. How about we sit down and have dinner together?"
Zhao Yunzhu spoke, but Wang Min still looked at Prince An with an inquiring look.
Qin Zongzhi was about to refuse when he saw Zhao Yunzhu's stern face and changed the subject, "Since Concubine Yun has invited you, Miss Wang, please sit down and have dinner with us."
Wang Min bowed to Zhao Yunzhu before sitting down.
Zhao Yunzhu shook a spoonful of ginseng soup and brought it to Prince An, jokingly saying, "This ginseng soup reminds me of an old friend. It's a pity that the prince didn't see Sister Du off for the last time."
"What a pity! I told her before that a great monk had calculated for me and said that I was destined to have only one person by my side until old age, and that person was you. But she insisted on risking her life to get in the way. She chose her own path, and she has to bear the consequences herself. It's just a reincarnation. I think she won't be as stubborn as before!"
Qin Zongzhi said calmly.
Wang Min's face turned paler little by little.
The Du sister that Concubine Yun mentioned? But was she the former Concubine Du of Prince An's Mansion?
