Chapter 202 Su Yuyao Gives Birth
Within the vast expanse of the Jade Palace, the Qi field was solemn. Shadow, Sandstorm, Rat Diviner, and Ghost stood respectfully on one side of the throne, while on the other side stood Bai Er, his sleeves neatly tied and his face tense, and Hu Lingli, poised to strike.
Su Yuyao, heavily pregnant, leaned against the throne, listening to the report with her eyes lowered.
"Commander," Rat stepped forward and reported softly, "News has come from the south that Ten-Headed Peak has taken action, but those who rushed out were all assassins, and they have all been killed by Lord Qimen!"
“Deadpool…” Su Yuyao’s eyes were indifferent, “None of those Monument Kings have shown up?”
Rat shook his head and said, "The King of Steles has not shown up."
Su Yuyao sighed deeply, "Ten-Headed Peak was originally a place with accessible roads and a pleasant climate. Both its natural conditions and human environment were the best among the immortal mountains! However, the roads were destroyed, the land was ruined, and even the best creatures were forced into becoming demons... Hmm!"
Su Yuyao suddenly frowned, held her stomach, and a fine layer of sweat instantly appeared on her fair forehead.
Shu Bu quickly stepped aside, and Hu Lingli hurried forward to check. She touched Su Yuyao's belly and said with a mixture of surprise and joy, "Miss Yao'er, your belly is tight and low, it's probably only a little while before it's due. You should go back to your bedroom quickly!"
Su Yuyao shook her head slightly, gritting her teeth and waiting for the pain to subside.
“Rat divination,” Su Yuyao said weakly, “pass on the message… have Uncle Qimen post a notice outside Ten Peaks to recruit Hall Immortals, with strict conditions, to select the first batch of candidates and treat them well. Those who are not selected should be given some food and clothing to send them back… just pass on the message, it’s not a bad idea to spread it through several channels.”
The rat was somewhat puzzled, but it lowered its head and replied, "Yes!"
“Then, find a quick and reliable way to pass on the following message,” Su Yuyao looked up at Shubu. Shubu understood and quickly crouched down. Su Yuyao leaned close to Shubu’s ear and whispered, “Tell Uncle Qimen that the chosen spirits… will take lives without leaving any survivors.”
Shu Bu was startled and looked up at Su Yuyao, only to see that Su Yuyao's cold eyes were slowly beginning to shimmer.
"Go ahead." Su Yuyao avoided the shocked gaze of the rat.
Shu Bu bowed slightly and hurriedly retreated.
Was I too heartless? But if I wasn't heartless, how could I guarantee that these people who betrayed Xuanfeng would still be loyal to him? If I spared them, even just one of them could become a menace!
“Miss Ningbao,” Shadow stepped forward and said in a low voice, “Sandstorm and I have confirmed with Lord Bi Rong that the glacier has loosened, and we believe it will completely collapse in about a month!”
"If the glacier collapses, how long will it take to completely flood the four northern cities?" Su Yuyao asked, shifting her heavy body.
"I'm afraid... it only takes a few days!"
“Too slow,” Su Yuyao shook her head and said, “The people of Ruixin Jun’s clan are the most calculating and meticulous. They must have left themselves an escape route! A few days is enough time for them to escape…”
“Then… I’ll go with Sandstorm to urge them again! And let Lord Bi Rong go and melt it again!” Shadow said firmly.
Su Yuyao's stomach started to tighten again, and Bai Er quickly stepped forward and held Su Yuyao in his arms.
Su Yuyao leaned against Bai Er's chest for a while before weakly saying, "Go... have Zang Mao and Feng Zhan... shatter the glacier... have Bai Hu use illusion magic... to wrap Bi Rong's fire... and hide it... among the glacier fragments..."
Shadow looked at Su Yuyao, whose face was pale, and replied, "I'll go right now!" After saying that, he turned around, transformed into a wolf, and rushed out.
"ghost……"
"Present, Commander!" the ghost stepped forward and replied.
"You must... keep a close eye on the movements in the four northern cities. If... anything unusual... report it immediately... remember! Any unusual!"
"yes!"
“Sandstorm…” Su Yuyao’s breath grew weaker and weaker, “You… and Ruixue… be prepared to defend yourselves…”
"Yes, Miss Ningbao!"
As Su Yuyao watched the blurry figure of the sandstorm gradually disappear into the cave entrance, she finally released the Qi she had been holding in her chest and slumped into Bai Er's arms.
With red-rimmed eyes, Bai Er hugged the limp Su Yuyao tightly, "Miss, let's go back to the room..."
Su Yuyao's clothes were soaked with sweat once again. "Bai Er, Aunt Hu, it's too late..."
Wow! Wow!
Before the sandstorm had gone far, the cry of a baby resounded throughout Guangyu Hanyao!
Chengma Peak is bustling with activity once again!
On the snow-covered slope, the continuous bonfires illuminated the dark blue sky! The mother of the rat, beaming, brought out her family's treasured spirits from the snow cellar and urged the women to distribute them to each household, saying, "You are truly fortunate! If our wolf clan hadn't had a new young master, I wouldn't have been willing to bring out my family's finest brew!"
"Rat Goddess! You were absolutely right! He really is a young master!"
"My eyes can't be wrong!" said the Rat Mother proudly. "Now our wolf clan has both young masters and young ladies!"
"That's right! And it's Lord Xuanfeng's seed!"
"Hahahahaha..."
"No wonder he's called the Heavenly Emperor! He's truly capable!"
"Hahahahahahahahahahaha..."
"Kill! Kill!" Xuanmiao's youthful yet powerful shout immediately silenced everyone's joking and laughing.
Mouse Lady turned to look at the snow slope, and heard a crunching sound coming from below. "Oh! Miss Ling'er is back!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a huge black ghost-faced spider leaped up, its red eyes perched on round, mysterious objects.
Behind the ghost-faced spider followed a large, fat fish with black leopard-like markings. The fish thrashed about in the snow, its fins swaying constantly. Hanging from its raised dorsal fin was a huge animal skin bag, which swung in the air with each twist of its body.
Ruixue, leading the wolf pack, followed closely behind, her expression tense and serious. She was momentarily stunned when she suddenly saw the bright campfire and the laughing and talking tribespeople, but she did not stop. Instead, amidst the surprised looks of the crowd, she protected the Ghost-Faced Spider and the Fat Fish and ran towards Guangyu Hanyao.
"Daughter! Daughter!" Langzhi, her face full of confusion, rushed into Guangyu Hanyao carrying the equally bewildered Xuanmiao. "Bai'er! Aunt Hu! Where is she?! What happened?!"
"Lord Langzhi! You're finally back!" Bai Er rushed out to greet Langzhi upon hearing his voice, smiling as he said, "Miss has given birth! It's a boy!"
"Huh? She gave birth?" Langzhi looked incredulous. "Wasn't it not her due date yet?"
"Who says otherwise!" Bai Er grinned from ear to ear. "Miss gave birth exceptionally quickly this time. The young master didn't cause her any trouble at all; she came out in no time!"
"Hahahaha!" Langzhi laughed loudly, hugged Xuanmiao tightly, and kissed Xuanmiao's chubby cheeks several times. "Little one! You have a little brother now!"
Xuanmiao impatiently rubbed her kissed cheek with the back of her hand, glanced at Langzhi who was grinning widely and Bai Er who was beaming, then frowned, pouted, puffed out her cheeks, and started fiddling with the bone in her hand.
"Oh! Little one, are you unhappy?" Langzhi's smile faded, and she winked at Bai Er, saying, "What younger brothers and sisters? They can't compare to how adorable we little kids are, can they?"
Bai Er suppressed a laugh and took Xuan Miao from Lang Zhi's arms. "Lord Lang Zhi is right! When our Miao'er was born, she was fair and chubby, much more adorable than this little prince!"
Xuanmiao pouted and secretly glanced at Bai'er, who was smacking her lips and winking at Langzhi, "Lord Langzhi, you should go and take a look..."
Before Bai Er could even close her mouth, Lang Zhi rushed impatiently into Su Yu Yao's bedroom.
Xuanmiao's belly swelled up, and with a sudden thrust, she sprang out of Bai Er's arms.
"Oh dear!" Bai Er was caught off guard and was startled, stunned.
Upon seeing this, the large, fat fish waiting at the cave entrance instantly released a black aura that steadily supported Xuanmiao, who was about to fall to the ground.
Bai Er, having recovered her senses, quickly bent down to check on Xuan Miao. Only after confirming that Xuan Miao was unharmed did she tap Xuan Miao's forehead and say sternly, "Miao'er, stop being naughty! You're a big sister now!"
Xuanmiao pouted, waved the bone to shoo away Bai Er's hand, got up on her own, walked to the big fat fish, raised the bone and hit the big fat fish on the head with a "thud," and cried out in a tearful voice, "Agan! Hug! Hug!"
The big fat fish quickly threw the animal skin bag on its dorsal fin aside, transformed into human form, and picked up Xuanmiao, who was pouting and had tears in his eyes.
Xuanmiao blinked, and pearly tears streamed down her face onto Renshen's chest. She understood that her mother had given birth to a younger brother, and she had become the older sister. But she couldn't understand why her beloved grandfather had abandoned her because of her brother, and why everyone was drinking instead of welcoming her upon her return. For the first time since birth, she felt a profound sense of loss...
Ren Shen held Xuanmiao tightly, feeling fulfilled and fortunate, and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. "The protective umbrella has finally returned!"
...
Su Yuyao's bedroom was warm and filled with the scent of milk. The little boy, having had his fill of milk, was sleeping soundly in his crib, while Su Yuyao, wearing a warm hat, finally had a moment to relax and rest in bed. Hu Lingli, on the other hand, sat at the table with a loving expression, watching Su Yuyao and the little boy as she did her needlework.
Langzhi stood at the door, brushed off the chill from his body, rubbed his palms together to warm them, and then gently pushed the door open to enter.
"Oh, Lady Langzhi, you're back!" Hu Lingli rose to greet him, curtsied slightly, and said softly, "The little master is very well-behaved; he fell asleep after having his milk!"
Langzhi nodded and asked in a low voice, "How is my daughter?"
Hu Lingli smiled and said, "Lord Langzhi, don't worry, Miss Yao'er is doing well too, she just fell asleep..."
"Father," Su Yuyao's voice drifted over, "Why are you only just getting back?"
“Daughter…” Langzhi took a few steps toward the bed, and seeing the exhausted Su Yuyao on the bed, tears welled up in his eyes again. “Daughter, you’ve suffered so much! That brat Xuanfeng doesn’t know how to control himself and has made you suffer like this! Father will never let him get away with this…”
Looking at Lang Zhi's red eyes, Su Yuyao's cold aura slowly warmed up, and she said with a smile, "Dad, you're a grandfather again!"
Langzhi nodded vigorously, wiped away her tears, grinned widely, and looked at the small wooden bed, "Hehehe... My daughter is amazing! Two children in three years! A son and a daughter! This kid..."
The little prince in the small wooden bed woke up at some point, his phoenix eyes wide open, his bright blue pupils staring, his chubby little nose twitching, and his ingot-shaped little mouth sucking!
Lang Zhi scrutinized the boy closely. His appearance was practically a miniature version of Xuan Feng's; even his aloof expression and cold, unapproachable demeanor were identical! Lang Zhi had just reached out to hug him when he saw the young master's brows slowly furrow, revealing a look of disgust. He immediately lost interest, fidgeted with his sleeve, and muttered, "Ah, this kid… he's quite good, quite good…"
The young master rolled his eyes, squinted, relaxed his brows, yawned, and went back to sleep.
Langzhi smacked her lips. This little brat, let alone holding him and liking him, even looking at him for a second felt like an eyesore!
Seeing Lang Zhi's hesitant and then awkward demeanor, Su Yuyao couldn't help but smile. "Father, where's Miao'er? Why didn't you bring her in?"
Upon hearing the mention of Xuanmiao, Langzhi's mouth immediately stretched to her ears, and she laughed heartily, saying, "The little one is a bit upset now that she knows you gave birth to her younger brother, and Bai'er is trying to soothe her!"
Hearing this, Su Yuyao felt both heartache and worry. She leaned forward slightly and said to Hu Lingli, "Aunt Hu, quickly bring Miao'er in! This child is willful and has a bad temper; we don't want her to cause any trouble!"
“Miss Yao’er, please don’t worry!” Hu Lingli stepped forward, gently pressed Su Yuyao down, and comforted her, “What child doesn’t throw a tantrum! Besides, the newborn little master has distracted everyone for a while, and Miao’er, who is used to being pampered, is naturally not used to it. Just let her throw a tantrum, don’t let her get upset! She’ll be fine once the two siblings meet! The most important thing now is to name the little master so we can address him!”
Langzhi chimed in, "Girl, your Aunt Hu is right. The little one is so young and easy to coax! We should think of a name for this little rascal first!"
Su Yuyao also felt that Hu Lingli's words made sense, so she didn't insist any further. She thought for a moment and looked at Langzhi, "Father, how about the word 'harmony'? The harmony of heaven and earth is the foundation of all things, yin and yang are in harmony, the origin is harmony, and the end is also harmony!"
"Xuanhe? Xuanhe! What a great name!" Langzhi laughed as he looked at the small wooden bed. Xuanhe, who was fast asleep, still exuded a familiar yet unapproachable aura, which extinguished Langzhi's enthusiastic smile like a bucket of cold water being poured on him.
Langzhi awkwardly withdrew her smile. "Hmph, this brat has a good name now!"
"Young Master Xuanhe! That's wonderful!" Hu Lingli exclaimed, beaming from ear to ear. "We finally have a form of address! As for the wolf clan..."
"The wolf clan's name..." Su Yuyao thought for a moment and said, "Let's call him... Yu Chen..."
...
Ren Shen was embracing Xuan Miao, reminiscing about the impending end of his life of constant subservience, when Rui Xue suddenly rushed up and bumped into him, interrupting his reverie. He glanced at Rui Xue with displeasure, then silently escorted Xuan Miao out of Guangyu Hanyao.
"Bai Er! Ning Bao gave birth?!" Rui Xue exclaimed in disbelief and anxiety. "It's not her due date yet! How could she have given birth already?! How is Ning Bao? How is the baby?!"
Bai Er smiled and gently brushed the chill off Rui Xue's body. "Don't worry, Miss is fine! Young Master is fine too! Lord Langzhi has already gone in to visit her, and I reckon he's naming the young master right now!"
Ruixue pulled Bai'er close, hugging her tightly, and muttered, "Okay, okay! As long as everything is fine!"
Bai Er, unable to move from Rui Xue's embrace, twisted her body shyly and said, "Rui Xue, let me go!"
Ruixue felt a surge of heat as the soft, fluffy body of the white ear rubbed against him. He lowered his head, stroked the furry white ear on his chest with his lips, and whispered, "White Ear, did you miss me while I was gone?"
"Ruixue! Don't do this! Everyone's watching!" Bai Er calmed her racing heart, pulled her ears back, and gently pushed Ruixue's chest, giving her a meaningful look.
Ruixue then noticed the tribespeople behind her who were covering their mouths and snickering around the cave entrance...
Xuanmiao, cradling her beloved shinbone in her arms, glanced at her tribesmen drinking strong liquor around the campfire on the snowy slope, then at the crowd peering curiously from the cave entrance. Such attention used to be hers alone, but now…
"Sigh..." Xuanmiao sighed in a childish voice, and said dejectedly, "Agan! Let's go!"
Ren Shen looked at Xuanmiao in his arms with some surprise. This little thing, so young and already knows how to be sad?
Xuanmiao raised his head, looked at Renshen who was staring blankly at him, frowned and glared, and repeated, "Agan! Let's go!"
"Okay, let's go!" Ren Shen, holding Xuanmiao, watched the crowd gradually surging towards the cave entrance, took a few steps back, and asked softly, "Then... which way do we go?"
Xuanmiao hugged the bone, pondered for a moment as if in deep thought, then suddenly looked up, pointed at the animal skin bag that Renshen had thrown on the ground, and said, "Take it! Go!"
"Take him with us?" Ren Shen looked at the animal skin bag on the ground with some concern and hesitated before saying, "He came to find your mother. It wouldn't be right for us to take him away!"
Xuanmiao listened without speaking, but slowly pulled the bone back into her arms. Renshen looked at Xuanmiao and instinctively supported her back with his arm and held her head with his palm. Sure enough, after Renshen took protective measures, Xuanmiao pouted, puffed out her cheeks, and kicked hard with her legs, striking Renshen's chest, and fell straight backward!
"Miss Miao'er!" Ren Shen looked helplessly at Xuan Miao, who was lying on his arm with her belly bulging. "Take her with you, take her with you! Is that alright?"
The wolf clan swarmed toward the cave entrance, while Ren Shen, carrying Xuan Miao in one arm and dragging a leather bag in the other, walked in the opposite direction, his face full of helplessness.
"Hahahahahahahahahaha!" Langzhi's laughter squeezed through the gaps in the crowd and entered Xuanmiao's ears.
"Yu Chen! Yu Chen! Yu Chen!"
The name of Xuanhe's wolf clan resounded throughout the entire Chengma Peak amidst the raised torches and leaping bonfires!
“Jade…” Xuanmiao frowned and tried hard, “Damn it!”
“Chen!” Ren Shen quickly corrected, “It’s Young Master Yu Chen.”
Xuanmiao turned around, looking at the cave entrance that was tightly surrounded by her tribesmen, and at Langzhi who was grinning happily with a fork in his hand. Gradually, her eyes reddened. "Jade... Grass!"
"Chen! Yu Chen!" Ren Shen didn't dare to delay, quickening his pace while gently coaxing, "Yu Chen is the young master's name in the wolf clan, Miss Miao'er doesn't need to make it difficult for him to learn it..."
Xuanmiao's face turned red, and he pouted as he exclaimed, "Ugh... damn it!"
Ren Shen gasped, glancing around. Thankfully, everyone was immersed in the joy of the new life and didn't notice the mysterious figure in his arms, whose eyes were reddened by the campfire...
The brighter the firelight, the colder the shadows; the more lively the atmosphere, the more desolate the desolation. In this cold and sorrowful shadow, Xuanmiao's eyes flickered with tears. It wasn't that she didn't accept Xuanhe, but rather that she couldn't accept this sudden change in circumstances.
"Agan, let's go." Xuanmiao sniffed, raised the bone, and pointed it towards a darker, more distant area. "There!"
"Then?" Renshen asked in surprise, "There's nothing there!"
"Yes!" Xuanmiao said solemnly, "A trap!"
Ren Shen sighed, "Miss Miao'er, that... is a dung heap."
"Hmm!" Xuanmiao leaned forward. "Let's go!"
Ren Shen looked at the animal skin bag with some pity. This mother and daughter... they were both quite ruthless!
Under the cold moonlight, a chubby little boy squatted on the hard, cold pile of dung with a serious expression, pounding the dung under his feet with the bone in his hand.
A tall, thin, dark figure stood guard vigilantly beside the manure pile, carrying a withered tree branch.
Crack!
The little fat boy cracked open the frozen layer on the manure pile, and the stench of manure that had been suppressed deep inside the pile slowly escaped from the crack.
Xuanmiao stuck out her buttocks and sniffed at the crack. The pungent stench that hit her head made her sneeze several times.
Ren Shen could no longer wait. Holding his breath, he whispered, "Miss Miao'er, what do you need me to do?"
"No!" Xuanmiao sniffed and said firmly, "Miao! Jiji!"
After saying that, Xuanmiao swung the bone in his hand and smashed it heavily into the crack...
