Chapter 233 Another Crisis Arises in the Path of Limitless Power
Chi Yan looked at the thorn covered in wounds from being devoured by the vengeful ghost, feeling both heartache and surprise. Although this child shared the same path as Ze Yuan, he still possessed some conscience and integrity.
“Lord Fu… Demon… Ghost… Destroy the world…” After saying this, Qiangji fainted.
Chi Yan released his Qi to protect Qiang Ji, and then arranged for someone to send Qiang Ji back to the Head Palace.
The palace was also a scene of carnage, with scratches and splattered blood everywhere.
"What the hell is all this rubbish!" Langzhi cursed as he examined the various marks in the main hall. "This is the palace of the head! Ordinary things couldn't possibly leave such deep marks!"
After settling Qiangji down, Chiyan went over to examine him and said, "Lord Langzhi, when I rescued Young Master Qiangji just now, I did see a group of ghostly figures attached to him. They looked humanoid, but each one had sharp beaks and teeth, eagle claws and cat eyes! I burned them with raging fire, but they were still able to escape. It's really strange!"
Langzhi frowned, looked inside the hall, then glanced outside, counted on his fingers, sighed deeply, and said, "Oh dear! This is terrible!"
Chi Yan leaned forward and asked cautiously, "Lord Langzhi, have you figured something out?"
Langzhi smacked her lips and said, "Of all the people stationed at the Head Palace, only about a dozen or twenty survived! Even Qiangji almost died! If my daughter finds out, what will she do?!"
Looking at the devastated Shouzhi Palace, Chi Yan felt a pang of sorrow. "Then... what was the result you just calculated...?"
"What result? I counted the number of people! What kind of result could I possibly get?!" Langzhi said, hands on her hips, glancing at Chiyan. "If you're going to blame someone for this, it's your fault!"
Chi Yan rolled his eyes speechlessly.
"Report—!"
Chi Yan hurriedly stepped out of the palace, clutching his waist seal, and shouted, "Speak!"
"Report to the Heavenly Lord! All eight Heavenly Gates within the Boundless Path have been attacked to varying degrees! According to survivors, the attackers did not resemble living beings, but rather evil spirits! The blood qi of the Five Great Origins is dense and unclear, but some have seen the evil spirits retreating in the direction of the Five Great Origins!"
Evil spirits?! Chi Yan's heart skipped a beat, and he hurriedly issued an order, "Pass down the order! Each palace gate should increase manpower and strengthen vigilance! Pay close attention to the state of Shi Yuan. If there are any unusual movements, defend only and do not attack, and wait for reinforcements from the Heavenly Palace!"
"yes!"
"Chiyan!" Langzhi chased after Chiyan and said, pressing her ear against the back of Chiyan's head, "We made a deal, if my daughter comes looking for trouble, you can't back down!"
Chi Yan dodged away in disgust, but still couldn't escape Lang Zhi's voice, "If we had followed my daughter's orders and rescued you, we would have gone straight to Wuji Dao to provide support, and Wuji Dao wouldn't be in this terrible state! It's all your fault, you insisted on..."
"Save them?!" Chi Yan tilted her head and glared at Lang Zhi. "You guys must have put a lot of effort into digging that deep pit!"
"What...what do you mean by digging a hole?!" Langzhi's eyes widened as well. "Honestly, it was purely accidental that you two fell into the hole!"
"Hmph! A coincidence?!" Crimson Flame flared his nostrils. "How could it be such a coincidence that Minotaur and I encountered both a deep pit and an avalanche?!"
"A coincidence! It's absolutely a coincidence!" Langzhi said, puffing out his chest. "I swear on my integrity!"
"Don't use that worthless stuff as collateral!" Crimson Flame retorted disdainfully.
"You!" Langzhi tapped the back of Chiyan's head and said, "You're so ungrateful! Don't forget, that frozen-to-the-bone cow's head is still trying to revive and save its life on Chengma Peak!"
"It was you shameless bastards who detained the bull's head for me!" Chi Yan finally got angry at Lang Zhi and roared in a fit of rage.
Langzhi stared wide-eyed, her face full of innocence, and said, "Chiyan! Don't lie through your teeth! The bull's head is almost shredded into minced meat, how are you going to carry it? Wrap it up like a bun?!"
"Get out! Mind your own business!" Chi Yan spitted fire at Lang Zhi. "If Su Yuyao hadn't sent a message saying that Bi Fang had been kidnapped by Meng Yu, I wouldn't have come to this godforsaken place!"
"Look at you, so capable! If my daughter hadn't agreed to save you, how would you have had a chance to save her?!"
"If I hadn't fallen into your trap, how could I not have returned to the Heavenly Palace?! If I had returned to the Heavenly Palace, how could my poor daughter have been kidnapped by bad guys?! You only care about yourselves, how could you care about us?!" Chi Yan roared mercilessly at Lang Zhi's face.
"You?!" Lang Zhi wiped his face, rolled his eyes, and was about to lash out when a loud "BOOM!" was heard, and eight golden cracks appeared above Shiyuan!
Langzhi and Chiyan stopped arguing and looked up at the shimmering, iridescent crevice.
"Give the order!" Chi Yan shouted. "Everyone, prepare for defense! No one is to move without my command!"
"yes!"
Suddenly, the blood energy within the World Source surged, and hordes of evil spirits rushed toward the crack with shrill screams. Just as they were about to pass through, the crack suddenly closed, turning into a black boulder that smashed the evil spirits back into the World Source!
"She's my daughter!" Lang Zhi chuckled and whispered in Chi Yan's ear, "Don't be fooled by the fact that anyone can enter the Wuji Dao. The Shiyuan is different. It's a different dimension. Entering the world is tantamount to suicide! The only person who can get permission to enter the Shiyuan is my daughter!"
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a series of wails descended from the sky, and several points of light streaked into Shiyuan like shooting stars…
"What are those things?" Langzhi asked, squinting. "They look... kind of familiar?"
Chi Yan stared in disbelief as the old immortals fell into the cycle of reincarnation.
"Those are the guardian deities and immortals of each family!" Chi Yan clenched his fist tightly. "Su Yuyao is trying to wipe them all out!"
"Crimson Flame Heavenly Lord!" Su Yuyao's ethereal voice suddenly rang out from the sky, "You're overthinking it!"
Suddenly, a burst of golden light flashed above Shiyuan. As the light faded, Su Yuyao, dressed in gorgeous clothes, gracefully descended.
"Daughter!" Lang Zhi's eyes suddenly reddened, and she strode over, extending her hand to greet Su Yuyao. "You've finally come!"
Su Yuyao landed lightly, supported by Lang Zhi's arm. Before she could speak, Chi Yan's fists burst into flames as he rushed forward and questioned, "Su Yuyao, why did you do this?"
Langzhi's eyes widened. "How dare you speak to Mother Yao like that?!"
Su Yuyao's expression was calm as she stepped onto the sand and gravel soaked with countless corpses. She solemnly said, "When the Emperor ruled the Wuji Dao, he entered the mortal realm many times to participate in reincarnation. He not only underwent tribulations to cultivate himself and seek true Qi, but also secretly helped the world eliminate evil and return to the righteous path. If the Emperor could do it, so could they; what the Emperor did, they did too." As she spoke, Su Yuyao glanced at Chi Yan, her gaze like a knife. "But you, Chi Yan Heavenly Lord! I trusted you, which is why I entrusted you with guarding such an important Wuji Dao. Now it's like this. What explanation do you have?"
Chi Yan wanted to question Su Yuyao, but Su Yuyao asked him a question in return, and he was so embarrassed that his face turned red.
*Poof! Poof!* Two more points of light flashed in the air.
Su Yuyao caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye and was shocked to see that it was Granny Zhong and Bai Er!
"Grandma Zhong? Bai Er?! Could it be that they've entered the mortal world too?!" Lang Zhi muttered to himself in surprise.
Su Yuyao raised her hand and released her Qi, which transformed into a spider web that rushed towards Granny Zhong and Bai Er, engulfing them in the web.
As the spiderwebs fell back down, Granny Zhong, holding Bai Er's hand, quickly walked up to Su Yuyao.
Su Yuyao stared at Bai Er, who was hiding behind Granny Zhong, and asked with a displeased expression, "Why are you here?"
"Miss...I..." Bai Er stammered, her face flushed.
Su Yuyao stepped forward and pulled Bai Er aside, avoiding the gazes of Chi Yan and Lang Zhi. She looked Bai Er up and down. Its face was ashen, its fur was burnt, and even the ruby in the middle of its forehead was covered with a layer of dust!
Su Yuyao grabbed Bai Er's wrist and scolded in a low voice, "Bai Er! You just regained your human form and you're already out here risking your life! Are you out of your mind?!"
"Miss!" Bai Er's eyes suddenly reddened. "I just heard you say... what if... I'm afraid..."
"You!" Su Yuyao pinched Bai Er's chin, both angry and helpless. Looking at Bai Er's red eyes, she said softly, "Fool! I was saying that for Xuan Feng! Look!" Su Yuyao turned Bai Er's chin towards Shi Yuan, brought her mouth close to Bai Er's ear, and said, "Those old guys went straight into the cycle of reincarnation after falling down. Whether they can come back depends on their cultivation and fate! Besides, with my current abilities, how could anything happen?!"
Bai Er blinked her eyes, "But I'm scared..."
"Do you know that your cultivation level isn't high enough? You almost..." Su Yuyao pinched Bai Er's cheek, her nose twitching, "Why didn't you hide properly and rush out?!"
Bai Er rubbed her cheeks shyly, pouting as she said, "I'm afraid... I'll lose you again..."
"Fool!" Su Yuyao's eyes immediately reddened. She lifted Bai Er's face and said, "You, like Xuanmiao and Xuanhe, are my closest relatives. But Xuanmiao and Xuanhe were born descendants of the Heavenly Palace. With Xuanfeng around, who would dare to plot against them?! But you are different. You are just Yu Chuanzi of the Ice Wheel Palace. Although you are like a sister to me, you have no other support. If someone uses you as my weakness, wouldn't that harm you?! I have lost before... I don't want to lose again..."
"Miss..." Bai Er's tears welled up in waves.
"Listen to me!" Su Yuyao gently wiped away Bai Er's tears with her sleeve and whispered, "Remember, for the sake of your eight children, you must protect yourself! When I can't take care of you, stay close to my father! You can't rely on anyone else!"
"Yes!" Bai Er nodded solemnly.
Su Yuyao spread her palms, and Qi gathered in her palms to form a small Qi vortex. The Qi vortex gradually released golden spider silk, which formed a thin veil that floated towards Bai Er, covering Bai Er from head to toe. The golden light gradually faded, and the thin veil disappeared into Bai Er's Qi field.
After settling Bai Er in, Su Yuyao turned around and said to Granny Zhong, "I know you are anxious about the matter of the spirit, but the matter is not yet settled, so you don't need to be so anxious."
"Your Majesty!" Granny Zhong said, slightly curtsying her knees. "These spirits should have entered the cycle of reincarnation to replenish their natural energy, but now they have been infused with demonic nature by those with ulterior motives. This is truly unjust! Moreover, spirits are neither born nor die, and they suffer no loss. Ordinary methods are simply ineffective in controlling them! I have some objects here that can control spirits and help them enter the path of rebirth and return to the cycle of reincarnation!"
Su Yuyao smiled and slowly said, "Grandma Zhong, putting aside whether your methods are effective against these evil spirits, these evil spirits, which have become born evil, will likely cause calamities in many worlds even after they return to the path of rebirth!"
"Fate is hard to defy! If one is destined to be a demon, even if one's spirit is pure, one will still become a demon after reincarnation due to acquired influences! If one is destined to be a savior, even if one is imbued with demonic nature, one will still walk the path of saving the world!"
"Destiny may be hard to defy, but how do you know that I am not their destiny?" Su Yuyao looked up at the world shrouded in blood-red energy and sighed softly. "All things in the world, in essence, are nothing but Qi. Qi has no life or death, but that doesn't mean that spirits are without birth or death; Qi has no loss, but that doesn't mean that spirits are without injury or death. I can understand your desire to protect these evil spirits, but have you ever considered whether these evil spirits are worth protecting?"
"But Your Majesty..."
"Alright." Su Yuyao coldly interrupted Granny Zhong. Her pupils darted slightly as she looked at the world shrouded in blood-red energy. Within her red vision, ghostly figures with gray-black energy were layered upon each other. Such extremely cold Yin energy was probably beyond the resistance of even the true fire of the Crimson Flame...
"Grandma Zhong, what is the object you mentioned that can control spirits?"
Grandma Zhong flicked her wrist, and two small, copper-green bells appeared between her fingers, swaying back and forth without making a sound.
"This is the Soul-Guiding Bell. Only spirits can hear it. It is a divine object that guides spirits on their path to rebirth!"
"A soul-guiding bell?" Langzhi stared at the small bell between Granny Zhong's fingers and said, "You're making so many evil spirits listen to these two little things of yours?! Tsk tsk tsk... That's inappropriate!"
Granny Zhong glanced at Lang Zhi, then pulled a snakeskin rope from her waist and continued, "This is a spirit-binding rope; it can bind a maddened spirit..."
"How many people can this thing tie up?!" Langzhi interjected again.
"Father! Shut up!" Su Yuyao whispered, stopping Lang Zhi from interrupting, and turned to Granny Zhong, "Granny Zhong, if we want them to return to the path of rebirth, what should we do?"
Granny Zhong stepped forward and said, "Logically speaking, once the confinement is broken, they will naturally return to their path of rebirth; if it cannot be broken, then I am that door!"
Su Yuyao's eyes flashed as she looked into Granny Zhong's eyes, which were deep, tolerant, and serene... Either break through the illusion, or break Granny Zhong's illusion. Ha, why does Heaven always give me such difficult problems...
Looking at Su Yuyao's powerful yet forlorn figure, Lang Zhi felt a surge of sorrow. He didn't care whether Su Yuyao was the new creator; he only wanted his daughter to live a carefree, happy, and peaceful life! But now, his beloved daughter could no longer live the life he hoped for. And he seemed powerless to do anything…
Su Yuyao felt Lang Zhi's gaze. She knew Lang Zhi loved her endlessly, and she knew she would no longer act like a spoiled child in front of him as before... Ugh! What is that thing that's so irritating...?
“Father.” Su Yuyao turned to Lang Zhi.
"Hey! Daughter! Dad's here!" Lang Zhi wiped his face and greeted Su Yuyao with a smile.
Su Yuyao was speechless for a moment when she saw the pained look in Lang Zhi's eyes.
“Um…daughter,” Lang Zhi said guiltily, feeling uneasy under Su Yuyao’s gaze, “when Chi Yan and I arrived, Wuji Dao was already in this state! Although Chi Yan delayed us a bit, even if we had arrived in time, it would have been unlikely that we could have saved them in time! After all, these evil spirits couldn’t even be burned to death by Chi Yan’s fire. Oh, right, they weren’t even alive to begin with…”
"Father," Su Yuyao said softly with a smile, "I've met Qian'er. Congratulations on becoming a father again."
"Ah? Ah... okay..." Lang Zhi replied awkwardly. Although he had heard that Yu Qing had given birth to a son for him, he was still not happy and dared not bring it up casually. "Um... did your mother... say anything?"
"Mother hasn't met her yet." Su Yuyao looked at Langzhi's worried face and felt a little empathetic. She glanced at Bai Er behind her again and sighed softly. After all, she hadn't dared to tell anyone about Bai Er.
Su Yuyao steadied herself and asked, "Father, are you really not afraid of wasting thousands of years of cultivation by leaving the Immortal Mountain for your daughter?"
"Sigh! If I'm crippled, I'm crippled. I don't care! I'll help you get through this, and then I'll go live with your mother! For your sake, your mother won't kick me out, right?"
Lang Zhi's nonchalant expression brought tears to Su Yuyao's eyes. "Father, how could I possibly let you take such a risk?"
"Huh?" Lang Zhi blinked, "What do you mean?"
Su Yuyao didn't say much. She glanced at Chi Yan, turned around and walked towards the Palace of the Head, with Bai Er following closely behind her.
"Idiot!" Chi Yan glared at Lang Zhi, and reluctantly but helplessly followed Su Yuyao's steps.
Granny Zhong glanced sideways at Lang Zhi, "Lord Lang Zhi, Yao'er is now the Lord of the Heavenly Palace! The old rules have long been broken! If she didn't have absolute certainty, why would Yao'er let you lead your troops away from the Immortal Mountain?!"
Langzhi could no longer hold back his sorrow. He suddenly covered his eight red eyes and choked out, "I... I didn't dare to think about it... For thousands of years... I haven't dared to cross the line even once... I've gotten used to it..."
