Chapter 47 The Child Is Gone

Chapter 47 The Child Is Gone

"Miss! Miss! Are those cranes?!" Bai Er asked, pointing to a few shadows in the sky.

Su Yuyao sat listlessly on the stone steps in front of Yuantun Hall, looked up at the sky, and her eyes finally lit up, "It's... Xuanfeng is back..."

She quickly stood up and stared intently at the descending crane.

“Xuanfeng…” Su Yuyao watched as Xuanfeng gently leaped down from the crane with Feihua in his arms. Her heart sank, and her chest felt as if it were blocked by a boulder, making it impossible for her to utter a single word.

"Girl?!" Xuanfeng looked at Su Yuyao, whose face was deathly pale. "What's wrong with you?"

Su Yuyao glared helplessly at Xuanfeng, "You bastard! You really did bring Feihua back!"

“Girl, listen to me, Fei Hua, she…” Xuan Feng hurriedly stepped forward to explain.

"The child?" Fei Hua stared blankly at Su Yuyao, then suddenly exclaimed anxiously, "The child! Quick! The child is dying! Dying!"

She lunged at Su Yuyao, grabbed her hand, and glared at her, crying, "The child! The child! It's dying!"

Su Yuyao was startled by Feihua's appearance and voice, and quickly shook off Feihua's hand.

Feihua tried to rush forward again, but Xuanfeng stopped her in his arms. She clutched Xuanfeng's collar, crying, "The child is gone...gone..."

"Alright, alright..." Xuanfeng didn't know what Feihua meant, but he was afraid that she would frighten Su Yuyao, so he could only hold her in his arms.

With tears blurring her vision, Su Yuyao could no longer see Xuanfeng embracing Feihua. She turned and walked towards the academy.

“Miss, I’ve already asked for leave for you. We don’t need to go to the academy today…” Bai Er said softly, supporting Su Yuyao.

Xuanfeng saw Su Yuyao's staggering figure and vaguely sensed something was wrong. He called out anxiously, "Girl! What's wrong? Girl! Let me see you!"

Su Yuyao stopped, turned around abruptly, her face streaked with tears, and roared with all her might, "Get out—! Ah—! Ah—!" Su Yuyao finally couldn't hold back her emotions and burst into tears.

“Girl…” Xuanfeng looked at Su Yuyao, whose face was extremely pale. No! The girl is sick!

"Girl, go home and wait for me. I'll come find you after I've settled Feihua in!"

"No—!" Su Yuyao cried out, her mouth agape. "I hate you..."

Xuanfeng was in a panic and tried to rush over, but Feihua in his arms held his face, crying and laughing at the same time, saying, "The child is dead... dead... gone..."

Xuanfeng, unable to let go of Feihua's body, could only call out to Bai'er, "Bai'er! Take Miss home and wait for me!"

"Yes, sir!" Bai Er helped the trembling Su Yuyao up. "Miss, let's go home!"

"I'm not going back..." Su Yuyao gave a sudden push, but instead of moving Bai Er, she bounced herself up on her butt.

"Ah!" Su Yuyao fell to the ground, feeling as if a water balloon in her lower abdomen had been burst, the excruciating pain rendering her unable to move.

"Yao'er?" Another crane landed, and Qingyue slowly floated down, hurrying towards Su Yuyao in the distance. "What's wrong with you? Why do you look so pale?"

Su Yuyao wiped away her tears, got up, and her stomach was no longer hurting so much. Ignoring Qingyue's questions, she quickly ran up the mountain.

"Miss! Slow down!" Bai Er chased after her, but Su Yuyao fell further and further behind.

“Xuanfeng…the child is gone…it’s such a pity…” Tears welled up in Feihua’s empty eyes. “But you will have children again…don’t worry…don’t worry…”

"What did you say?" Xuanfeng stared at Feihua in shock. "What do you mean?"

"Your child!" Feihua laughed exaggeratedly, "Your child is gone!"

Xuanfeng's head buzzed. Girl! My silly girl!

Qingyue was confused. "What child? Who has Xuanfeng's child?"

"Auntie! Keep an eye on Feihua for me!" Xuanfeng didn't care about anything else, pushed Feihua towards Qingyue, and anxiously chased after her up the hillside...

While crying, Su Yuyao climbed towards the top of the mountain based on her memory.

"Ah..." Su Yuyao's lower abdomen began to ache again. She knelt by the tree, clutching her stomach, and gritted her teeth to endure the pain before getting up and walking towards the mountaintop...

Xuanfeng ran into the study, shouting, "Girl! Girl!"

"Eh? Lord Xuanfeng? Yao'er took the day off today, didn't you know?!" Meng Yu came out to greet him, looking at the anxious Xuanfeng, and asked in surprise.

"The girl just ran up here! Where is she?!" Xuanfeng grabbed Meng Yu by the collar, his eyes bloodshot as he questioned her.

"Huh? No... I didn't see it..." Meng Yu looked innocent.

Xuanfeng pushed Mengyu away, his hands resting on his temples. He wanted to calm down and see where Su Yuyao was, but he could only hear intermittent, faint bell sounds.

"Lord Xuanfeng! What's wrong!" Upon hearing the voice, Qi Meng handed over the class to Gong Meng and came out.

"Uncle-Master! The girl just ran up here, but she didn't come to the academy. Where else could she have gone?"

"The path up the mountain only leads to the academy! But we haven't seen Yao'er!"

“Uh…” Meng Yu said hesitantly, “I might know where she went…”

In the dense forest, Su Yuyao lay weakly amidst the thick layer of fallen leaves.

It hurts so much… She was sweating profusely, enduring the tearing pain in her lower abdomen…

Suddenly, a warm current rushed out, the pain gradually subsided, she breathed a sigh of relief, slowly closed her eyes, and drifted into a deep sleep...

"Girl!"

"Yao'er!"

"Girl!"

"Yao'er!"

Xuanfeng and Mengyu's shouts pierced through the thick foliage, but still received no response.

"Meng Yu! You brat, you actually brought a girl up to the mountaintop?!" Xuan Feng roared. "If anything happens to her, I will never forgive you!"

"My lord! Why are you blaming me... If you hadn't brought Feihua here, Yao'er wouldn't have run away..." Meng Yu said in a low voice, unconvinced.

Xuanfeng was speechless after being silenced by Meng Yu's words, so he could only roar, "You brat, find it for me now!"

Xuanfeng began to regret it. He had only thought about how pitiful Feihua was, but he had ignored the girl's feelings... I'm the one who ruined the girl! I'm such a bastard!

"My lord! Is that... blood?!" Meng Yu stared wide-eyed, pointing to the tree beside him and asking.

"Girl!" Xuanfeng rushed over, and the scene before him almost suffocated him.

Su Yuyao lay flat on the fallen leaves, her face ashen and lifeless, the blood beneath her staining the withered leaves orange.

"Yao'er is injured?!" Meng Yu rushed forward anxiously, but was blocked by Xuan Feng.

"Little girl..." Xuanfeng took off his long robe and covered Su Yuyao with it, then carefully picked up his little girl and ran quickly down the mountain...

The simple thatched hut was filled with people.

Su Yuyao lay pale on the bed; the physician sent to accompany and treat Feihua was frowning as he took Su Yuyao's pulse; Xuanfeng knelt by the bed with a worried expression, staring at his maid; Bai'er was trembling with fear, standing to the side wiping away tears; Qingyue pulled Feihua, who was staring blankly into space, and glared at Xuanfeng with suppressed anger.

The physician sighed, put Su Yuyao's hand back under the covers, and retreated outside the courtyard.

Xuanfeng and Qingyue hurriedly followed, looking at the physician with anxious expressions.

The physician bowed deeply to Xuanfeng and said, "Lord Xuanfeng, judging from Miss Yao'er's pulse and symptoms, it is indeed a miscarriage... the fetus in her womb... is gone."

Xuanfeng felt as if his heart had been shattered by a heavy stone. He gasped for breath, trying to calm himself down from the sudden bad news.

"How could the child be gone?!" Qingyue couldn't contain her anger.

“Your Majesty,” the physician bowed and said, “Miss Yao’er is still young, and perhaps she hasn’t realized she’s pregnant. Given her usually lively and active nature, she must have engaged in strenuous exercise that injured her body. In addition, she has recently been experiencing liver qi stagnation and emotional distress, causing the wood element to sink downwards, which has harmed the fetus, resulting in the fetus turning into bloody fluid… which is then expelled…”

"Girl... how are you feeling?" Xuanfeng asked, his eyes red.

"Lord Xuanfeng, there is no need to worry. Miss Yao'er is young and in good health. I will prescribe some medicine for her. If she takes it on time and rests quietly for a while, and keeps a cheerful mood, she will recover soon."

Xuanfeng finally breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, the girl was alright.

After seeing the physician off, Qingyue, unable to hide her anger, demanded, "Xuanfeng! What happened! How could Yao'er be pregnant with your child?!"

“Aunt, I… I did it to save her…” Xuanfeng didn’t know how to explain for a moment.

"You! You got her pregnant to save her?" Qingyue trembled with rage. "Since you got her pregnant, why didn't you protect her properly?!"

"I...I didn't expect..." Xuanfeng was also extremely frustrated, "Just once..."

“What’s wrong with just once?! You! You really are… Hey? Right! Where’s Bai Er?!” Qing Yue suddenly remembered Bai Er, who took care of Su Yuyao.

"Your Highness..." Bai Er knelt on the ground, tears streaming down her face, and cried, "This servant is guilty... I failed to watch over Miss properly..."

"I ask you! You serve Yao'er every day, how come you didn't notice that she was pregnant?!" Qingyue's eyes seemed to spit fire.

“This servant… doesn’t understand either. Miss Yao’er has always loved to eat, and she’s been eating even more since returning from Shangxiu Palace,” Bai’er said, crying. “Back in the academy, she was often sleepy because the lessons were boring. Since she could eat and sleep so much, I didn’t think much of it when I saw her gain weight…”

"When did Yao'er start getting sick? You should know!" Qingyue was still full of anger.

"Little slave...I don't know..." Bai Er cried.

Xuanfeng suddenly remembered that Su Yuyao had mentioned having a stomachache, and quickly asked, "When did the girl's stomach start hurting?"

"Huh?" Bai Er thought for a moment and said, "It was the day when you went to the Heavenly Palace to pick up Fairy Fei Hua. Miss ran down from the academy, and halfway down, she suddenly stopped and said she had a stomachache. For the next few days, she was listless, couldn't sleep well, and didn't eat. She kept saying she had a stomachache... And you weren't home..."

"Alright! I understand..." Xuanfeng's heart shattered even more. It's all my fault! It's all my fault! I'm a fucking inhuman!

Su Yuyao's stomach pain was gone, and she could finally get a good night's sleep! She slept soundly until a rich medicinal aroma wafted into her nostrils, at which point she slightly opened her eyes.

"Miss! You're awake?" Bai Er, her eyes red and swollen, looked at Su Yuyao with surprise and said softly, "You scared me to death!"

"Bai Er...why are you crying?" Su Yuyao asked weakly. "How did I get back?"

"It was the adults who found you on the mountain; you had fainted..." Bai Er said, then burst into tears again, "Miss... I'm so sorry..."

"Bai Er! What are you crying for! Get out!" Qing Yue shouted angrily.

Su Yuyao looked at Qingyue, whose face was full of anger, "Your Majesty... why did you scold Bai Er..."

"You silly girl! You don't understand anything!" Qingyue sighed angrily. "It's also my fault. I only assigned you Bai Er. You don't even have an experienced nanny by your side..."

"Your Majesty..." Su Yuyao looked around the room and asked disappointedly, "Where is Xuanfeng?"

Qingyue sat on the edge of the bed, stroking the stray hairs by Su Yuyao's face. "Yao'er, do you remember what you promised me?"

"I..." Su Yuyao said guiltily, "I don't remember..."

“You said you wouldn’t be Xuanfeng’s woman,” Qingyue said.

“I…” Su Yuyao blushed.

Qingyue sighed and said, "Being Xuanfeng's woman is difficult. Not only will you face many challenges, but you also need absolute trust and support for Xuanfeng, and you cannot have any disloyalty towards him. Can you do that?"

As Su Yuyao listened, tears welled up in her eyes. "Your Majesty, you want me... to accept Fei Hua... is that right?"

Qingyue frowned slightly, somewhat surprised. It seemed that the rumors that she had helped Xuanfeng out of a predicament in the Female Mother Palace were not unfounded. This Su Yuyao was indeed quite intelligent, but her spoiled and willful personality needed to be changed.

Can you accept this?

"No..." Su Yuyao said, tears welling up in her eyes again.

"Hey, stop crying! You can't cry during postpartum confinement..." Qingyue quickly interrupted.

"What kind of postpartum care..." Su Yuyao asked, sobbing.

“Oh, your body was affected by the cold, so… uh… your period was frozen and it all came out at once. Your body can’t handle it, so you have to take good care of yourself… Don’t cry! Understand?” Qingyue explained haltingly.

"Oh, no wonder... I haven't had my period for over two months since I came out of the ice coffin..."

"Yao'er, whether you like it or not, Feihua has been brought here and is temporarily staying in Yuantun Palace. If you can't even accept this, then you are not qualified to be Xuanfeng's woman!"

Su Yuyao pouted, holding back her tears, and didn't answer. If she said she didn't accept it, she wouldn't deserve to be Xuanfeng's woman; but if she said she accepted it, she couldn't bring herself to say it.

Qingyue waited for a while, then looked at the stubborn Su Yuyao who remained silent, and said with a helpless smile, "I really can't do anything with you! Get up and drink your medicine!"

She gently helped Su Yuyao up and called out, "Bai Er! Is the medicine ready?"

"Alright! Alright!" Bai Er walked in quickly, carrying a bowl of steaming hot medicine.

“I don’t want to take medicine… It’s just my period, why should I take medicine?” Su Yuyao said, shaking her head.

"Good child, drink it. This is to help you recover. You need to rest in bed for a while!" Qingyue coaxed softly.

Su Yuyao had no choice but to pinch her nose and swallow a bowl of bitter medicine.
