Xuanfeng avenges Guan Yue
"Wah—! Wah—!" Just as dawn was breaking, the mysterious crying made the thatched hut tremble slightly.
Su'e quickly lit the candles and went forward to check on her. "Your Majesty, Miao'er is crying so hard, is she hungry? Should we wake Miss Yao'er?"
Qingyue held Xuanmiao in her arms and rocked her gently, saying, "Go and cook some millet porridge. Miao'er can sit up now, she can't always rely on Yao'er to feed her!"
Langzhi heard Xuanmiao crying and became very anxious. She pounded on the door and called out, "Tuanyue! Open the door! Is the little one hungry?!"
Su'e opened the door and came out, smiling, "Lord Langzhi, don't worry, this old servant will go and cook some millet porridge right away!"
"Then hurry up and go!" Langzhi rushed into the house, took Xuanmiao into his arms, and said to Qingyue, "You sleep a little longer, I'll comfort her!"
Once Xuanmiao was in Langzhi's arms, she actually calmed down, though she kept sobbing softly.
Langzhi felt a pang of heartache seeing Xuanmiao's teary eyes and her longing for milk. But the thought of her daughter, who had been tormented by Xuanfeng for half the night, made her even more distressed!
Not wanting to disturb the sleeping Su Yuyao, he sat down at the door with Xuanmiao in his arms. "Little one, Grandpa knows you're hungry, but your mother is too tired. Let her rest more, okay?"
Xuanmiao pouted, feeling wronged, and looked at Langzhi with tears in her eyes, letting out a soft sigh...
Langzhi extended a finger, releasing a field of energy from its tip, which spun into a ball of spider silk and swirled before Xuanmiao's eyes.
Xuanmiao sucked on her finger, gazed at the ball of spider silk before her, and slowly grinned...
Qingyue felt a pang of pity watching Langzhi skillfully coax the child; a grown man was acting like a mother hen.
"Langzhi," Qingyue said with a hint of heartache, "why don't you... marry Yuqing instead..."
"Huh?" Langzhi turned around, staring at Qingyue in disbelief. "Tuanyue, you agreed?!"
"You've wanted to marry her for a long time, haven't you?" Qingyue lowered her head, wiped her eyes, swallowed the bitterness rising in her throat, and said, "I'll grant your wish. When it's dawn, go find Yuqing..."
Langzhi was very excited, "Tuanyue, don't worry! I'll keep the position of the main wife for you!"
Looking at Qingyue's lonely figure, he suddenly remembered what Guan Yue had said last night, "Tuanyue, are you really not angry anymore, or... have you changed your mind?"
Qingyue was clutching her chest, grieving, when she heard Langzhi ask such a question. Her guilt and sorrow vanished instantly. She slightly raised her eyelids, her tearful eyes revealing a chilling glint in them, "You mean... I've changed my mind?"
"Huh?" Langzhi looked at Qingyue's gloomy expression, her heart pounding, but she was also very curious, so she asked persistently, "Has it changed? Who is it?"
Qingyue's chest heaved rapidly, and her sinister face grew increasingly dark.
Xuanmiao stared wide-eyed, looking at Qingyue, then at Langzhi, and then back at Qingyue.
Qingyue composed herself, which was about to erupt in anger, and retorted, "Langzhi, it's you who has changed your mind. How dare you smear me?!"
"Tuan Yue, the sun and moon bear witness! My love for you has never changed!" Lang Zhi raised her hand and swore. "I've just gained another love... but my love for you has absolutely not diminished!"
Qingyue's face was so dark that her eyes were completely black. Suppressing her anger, she said, "I was truly blind! Langzhi, you'd better watch yourself!"
After saying that, the door slammed shut, leaving only Langzhi, who was still raising his hand and swearing an oath, saying, "Tuanyue! Don't worry! Even if I take Yuqing as my wife, she will still be a concubine! You are the rightful wife!"
Xuanmiao glanced at the shameless yet smug Langzhi and rolled her eyes for the first time.
"Oh! The little kid can roll his eyes now!" Langzhi didn't notice Xuanmiao's disdain at all, but was very proud of the new function Xuanmiao had learned.
"Ah... Get lost!" Xuanmiao finally uttered the words that expressed his true feelings at the right moment.
The millet porridge is finally ready!
Xuanmiao looked at the golden porridge and licked her lips anxiously. Langzhi scooped up a little rice oil with a small spoon, blew on it to cool it down, and put it to Xuanmiao's lips. Xuanmiao couldn't wait to open her mouth and swallow the rice oil.
Thump! Xuanfeng's door opened!
Xuanfeng had tidied himself up and came out.
"Has my daughter woken up?" Langzhi asked anxiously.
Xuanfeng nodded. "Just woke up."
"You're such a handful!" Langzhi picked up Xuanmiao and glared at Xuanfeng with annoyance, muttering as she stepped into Xuanfeng's room. "Daughter! The little one is starving, hurry up and feed her! She just ate a bowl of millet porridge!"
Su Yuyao quickly came out to greet Xuanmiao and hugged her, "Why are you hungry so early? You're eating more and more!"
Xuanmiao tugged at Su Yuyao's clothes, about to put it in her mouth, but suddenly stopped. She sniffed the saliva, clumsily grasped it with her little hands, and then confidently took it in her mouth.
She sucked hard, and soon finished one of the dumplings. Su Yuyao quickly moved Xuanmiao to the other side, and Xuanmiao still grabbed at it with her little hands before starting to eat.
But after only a few bites, Xuanmiao started crying again.
"What's wrong?" Qingyue rushed over. "Didn't she start nursing? Why is she still crying?"
"I don't know what's wrong!" Su Yuyao said anxiously. "Could it be that something's not right?"
Xuanfeng also came over worriedly, picked up Xuanmiao who was crying her heart out, and gently patted her back, "Did you not eat enough?"
"How could that be?!" Langzhi was rubbing her hands anxiously at the door. "The baby always burps after nursing!"
Qingyue thought for a moment, then lifted Su Yuyao's clothes and squeezed, but not a single drop of milk came out!
Qingyue looked up at Su Yuyao and asked softly, "You haven't breastfed all night, why is your milk gone?"
Su Yuyao glanced at Xuan Feng, who was coaxing the child, and blushed.
Qingyue knew what was going on as soon as she saw Su Yuyao's expression.
She walked up to Xuanfeng and took the crying Xuanmiao from him. "Xuanfeng, you are the Heavenly Emperor, you should act like one! How could you... do this?!"
Qingyue wanted to give him a good scolding, but she blushed as well.
Xuanfeng knew he had done something quite shameful and didn't dare to argue. He could only lower his head and softly reply, "Yes, nephew understands."
As soon as Xuanfeng spoke, a strong milky fragrance wafted towards Qingyue and Xuanmiao in Qingyue's arms. Xuanmiao was stunned for a moment, then her nostrils flared as she smelled the milky fragrance emanating from Xuanfeng's mouth, which should have gone into her own mouth. She immediately panicked! Her chubby body suddenly leaned back, her legs kicked hard, and she raised her two clenched little fists, crying angrily and sadly!
Langzhi couldn't wait any longer, so she quickly went over and carried Xuanmiao to the yard. She scooped up some rice porridge and fed it to Xuanmiao's crying little mouth, saying with heartache, "What's wrong? Why aren't you full?"
Xuanfeng felt a little guilty and quickly followed, "Lord Langzhi, you've worked hard..."
Langzhi sniffed Xuanmiao's small mouth, paused for a moment, then suddenly looked up and glared at Xuanfeng, veins bulging on his temples. He cursed inwardly, "You brat! How much milk did you drink?! It smells so strong! No wonder the baby doesn't have any milk!"
Xuanfeng didn't care about Langzhi's anger, and turned around to shout, "Guan Yue, come with me!"
The morning in the academy had lost its usual tranquility! Xuanfeng, accompanied by Guan Yue, dressed in bright red, burst into Qi Meng's courtyard.
"Uncle-Master!" Xuanfeng bowed slightly to Qi Meng and said solemnly, "I have some business with Meng Yu. May I ask where he is now?"
Qi Meng glanced at Xuan Feng, then at Guan Yue behind Xuan Feng, who was flushed and looked aggrieved. Knowing that this was no friendly visitor, he quickly put on a smiling face and said, "Oh dear! What bad timing, I just sent Meng Yu out on an errand..."
"What is it?" Xuanfeng asked.
"Oh, uh... I've finished my tea, so I sent him to get some more from Immortal Tea Master!" Qi Meng said with a smile.
“Oh? Why go through all that trouble? Immortal Tea Lord has planted a tea plantation in Jiujiao Mountain. How about... we let Meng Yu go directly to Jiujiao Mountain to take a look?” Xuan Feng squinted at Qi Meng with a half-smile.
Qi Meng cleared his throat and said, "Oh, well... that's not necessary..."
Xuanfeng smiled, walked a few steps in the courtyard with his hands behind his back, stopped in front of Qi Meng's study, and sneered, "Uncle-Master, should we let him come out on his own, or should I go find him myself?"
Qi Meng knew he couldn't hide it from Xuan Feng or Meng Yu, so he stood in front of the study door, clasped his hands in a fist and bowed, saying, "My lord! My unfilial disciple has done wrong, and I will certainly discipline him properly!"
"How will you discipline them?" Xuanfeng glanced at Qi Meng. "You're known for being fiercely protective of your own! I'd like to see how you'll discipline them this time!"
"My disciple has erred, and as his immortal master, I cannot escape responsibility! My lord, if you truly wish to hold me accountable, I am willing to bear the consequences for my unfilial disciple!" With that, Qi Meng lifted his robe, knelt before Xuan Feng, his black beard touching the ground, and said, "Please punish me, my lord!"
Guan Yue was very surprised. He never expected that Qi Meng, who was usually so serious, would be so protective of Meng Yu!
Xuanfeng smiled and said, "Uncle-Master, do you know what Meng Yu did?"
Qi Meng frowned slightly. "I... have a guess... but! I believe in Meng Yu; he's definitely not a reckless child!"
"Uncle-Master! I sent Meng Yu here! How could I not know what kind of person he is?!" Xuan Feng's voice grew louder and louder. "I sent him here to purify his mind, not to teach him these heinous and immoral things!"
"My lord! Although I have never experienced matters of the heart, I do understand the involuntary emotions that arise when feelings run deep..."
"This is what you call 'uncontrollable passion'?!" Xuanfeng frowned and said, "He certainly couldn't control himself, but did he get anyone's permission?!"
"And what about you?!" Meng Yu suddenly flung open the door and rushed out, shouting at Xuan Feng, "Did Yao'er agree to your impulsive actions back then?!"
Upon hearing this, Qi Meng quickly stood up and pulled Meng Yu behind him, yelling, "You bastard! Shut up!"
Xuanfeng knew that what he had done had been seen, but he was certain that they would never tell anyone, especially not to the unruly Meng Yu! If Meng Yu did find out, the only possible culprit was Guan Yue!
Xuanfeng gritted his teeth, glared, and slowly turned to look at Guan Yue. "You brat! All that effort for standing up for you! You really dare to say anything?!"
To Xuanfeng's surprise, Guan Yue was also looking at him with shock and confusion! Clearly, he didn't know that Meng Yu already knew something he shouldn't have!
Xuanfeng frowned. Wasn't it Guan Yue who said it? Then who could it be?
He rotated his wrist, removing the wrist guard as he spoke, "Meng Yu, people are different, and everyone's circumstances are different! So, you don't need to compare yourself to others; just look at what you've done, right?"
Meng Yu glanced at Guan Yue, whose face was covered in red rashes in the distance, and whispered, "I like Guan Yue, so..."
Xuanfeng was stunned. "What did you say?!"
Qi Meng quickly covered Meng Yu's mouth, smiled awkwardly, and said, "Has this child been scared out of his wits?! He's starting to talk nonsense!"
Meng Yu broke free from Qi Meng's grasp and shouted to Xuan Feng, "I'm not talking nonsense, I just like him! I want to be with him! We've already... um! um!"
Qi Meng desperately covered Meng Yu's mouth, lowering his voice to say, "Shut up! Are you out of your mind?!"
Meng Yu struggled and shouted, "I admit what I did! I want everyone to know that Guan Yue is mine!"
"Say that again?!" Xuanfeng roared, frowning.
Guan Yue stood there, stunned, staring blankly at Meng Yu, who was going crazy. He didn't understand where Meng Yu got the courage, and he never expected Meng Yu to openly express his love and make such a shameful thing public.
"I like Guan Yue! I like... Ah! It hurts!" Meng Yu jumped up and down to confess to Guan Yue. This scene angered Qi Meng so much that he finally couldn't help but take action. He pulled out a ruler from his sleeve and hit Meng Yu on the lower back.
"You still dare to talk?! Shut your mouth!" Qi Meng glared at Meng Yu, then turned and bowed to Xuan Feng, saying, "Lord Xuan Feng, although Meng Yu is a bit mischievous, he's not a bad person at heart! He does like to tease cats and dogs sometimes, so please don't take his words to heart!"
Guan Yue's heart sank, and he lowered his head. It turned out that he really was so disliked!
"Uncle-Master! I brought Meng Yu back myself, so I know him better than anyone! Whether he's just teasing people or genuinely expressing his emotions, I'll find out by asking him properly!"
After saying that, she tossed the wristband into Guan Yue's arms, "Guan Yue! You hold onto it! Wait here!"
Xuanfeng's arms were bulging with veins. He lifted his long robe, walked past Qi Meng, took two steps to Meng Yu's side, reached out and grabbed Meng Yu by the back of the neck. "Get in here!"
Qi Meng wanted to save Meng Yu, but seeing Xuan Feng's expression, he didn't dare to stop him and could only watch as Meng Yu was thrown into the study.
The door was tightly closed, but it couldn't stop Meng Yu's screams of pain and pleas for mercy as he was being beaten.
Qi Meng stamped his feet in frustration. He turned to look at Guan Yue and said, "Young Master Guan Yue, I know that Meng Yu has done nothing good, but for the sake of his sincerity towards you, please say a few good words for him!"
Guan Yue held Xuanfeng's wrist guard without responding. He was angry, but didn't know why. He wanted to teach Meng Yu a lesson, but...
"Ah—!" A scream rang out!
Guan Yue was startled and rushed to the study, pounding on the door, "My lord! My lord! Stop!"
The door opened, and Xuanfeng rubbed his wrist, grinning crookedly, "Guan Yue, I got revenge for you! I twisted that thing off him!"
"What?!" Guan Yue rushed into the study in a panic.
Meng Yu lay helplessly on the ground, his back, waist, buttocks, and thighs were all covered in sores!
"Guan... Guan Yue..." A faint smile appeared on Meng Yu's pale face, "You feel sorry for me..."
Guan Yue looked at the shocking wounds on Meng Yu's body and exclaimed, "It's... a Qi Whip?!"
Meng Yu, his lips pale, struggled to his feet and said, "Lord Xuanfeng... is really angry..."
Guan Yue suddenly remembered what Xuan Feng had just said, and quickly reached his hand below Meng Yu's navel, muttering, "Thank goodness, he's still there!"
As Meng Yu felt Guan Yue's icy hand caressing his tree roots, he couldn't suppress his impulse and pushed Guan Yue's hand away.
"Guan Yue, wait until I'm feeling better... I'm afraid I can't right now..." Meng Yu said with a forced smile.
Guan Yue then realized that he seemed to have been tricked!
“Uncle-Master, let’s talk!” Xuanfeng slowly wrapped his wristband around his wrist and said to the anxious Qi Meng, “It’s probably hard to change Meng Yu! As for Guan Yue, in terms of ability, he’s the King of the Nine Suburbs Mountain Hall! In terms of appearance, he’s only slightly inferior to me! In terms of status, his father is Guan Xiao, the former General of Tianmen! If there’s anything lacking, it’s that he’s too clean! But… that’s not a big deal, let Meng Yu overcome it…”
Qi Meng was already worried about Meng Yu's injuries, and now, hearing Xuan Feng's biased words towards Guan Yue, he became increasingly furious. "My lord! Please forgive me! Although you brought Meng Yu back, I raised him myself! I know him best! He is intelligent, warm-hearted, and kind, with no bad habits! Even if he is occasionally a little unreliable, he has never committed such a heinous act! I still believe that Meng Yu made a mistake, but he does not deserve to die..."
"No? Who killed him?!" Xuanfeng sensed Qi Meng's reluctance and softened his tone, saying, "What I mean is... if they can get along well... right? That would be great!"
"My lord!" Guan Yue rushed out, his face flushed, and said, "You lied to me!"
Xuanfeng looked at the furious Guan Yue and asked, "Are you satisfied now?"
Guan Yue glanced at Qi Meng, lowered his eyelids, and said, "Regardless of Meng Yu's intentions, what he did was wrong! As far as I'm concerned, I cannot forgive him!"
Qi Meng knew that his attitude was too obvious and might hurt Guan Yue, who was already very sensitive. He also knew that Meng Yu had indeed gone too far! But he really couldn't understand how Meng Yu, no matter how incompetent he was, could have offended Guan Yue!
Since Xuanfeng hadn't spoken, Qi Meng didn't dare leave on his own and could only stand there anxiously waiting.
"Alright, we should go!" Xuanfeng adjusted his wrist guards, turned to Qi Meng and said, "This isn't over! Today was just to teach him a lesson! Uncle-Master, you'll have to put in more effort!"
Qi Meng bowed and said, "Yes!"
"Oh, right, give me the letter of appointment, I can take it with me!"
"In the study! I'll get it for you right away!" Qi Meng bent down and entered the study. He was shocked to see Meng Yu lying on the ground, covered in blood and gore. He choked up and quickly presented the letter of appointment to Xuan Feng, hoping that Xuan Feng would leave as soon as possible.
Unexpectedly, Xuanfeng smiled and began to savor the text, "Hmm! Not bad! Martial Uncle's writing is so delicate and touching!"
"You flatter me, sir. It's just a letter of appointment; how can it be described as having delicate handwriting..." Qi Meng replied absentmindedly.
Xuanfeng tucked the letter of appointment into his robes and called out to Guan Yue, "Guan Yue, let's go!"
"Yes!" Guan Yue stepped out of Qi Meng's courtyard without looking back.
