When Lin Weiwei arrived at the foot of the teaching building, she saw the rooftop explode. Her classroom was blocked by falling bricks, and the entire campus was gripped by panic. Students rushed out, screams, shouts, and cries of pain filling the air. The explosion on the rooftop first affected the classes on the roof, some of whom were already buried in the rubble.
"Has our plan been discovered? Look! Vivi!"
Xiao Se followed closely behind, and the teachers' building exploded a minute later. Among the crowd, teachers, covered in dust, were carrying students' files, and the old principal was being helped up.
"Help!"
She no longer had time to think about when the news had leaked; she only wanted to know how many classmates were buried alive under the rubble. She threw down her backpack and immediately went upstairs. In a flash, she saw her on the first floor and was already on the third floor.
"Damn it! I can't take the elevator!" Xiao Se glanced at the eight-story teaching building and gave up on climbing. He wanted to save the teacher first, but just as he headed towards the teachers' office building, the concert hall next door exploded.
It was like a cluster bomb; one small explosion triggered a chain reaction of detonations. He clutched his head, the most vital organ, when a pebble struck his calf, cutting it. Limping, he first went to save the old headmaster, his lips trembling as he cried, "My student… my student…"
"You should leave now! We, Lin Xiao and his wife, will take care of the students."
Yes! Now they were Lin Xiao and his wife. With determined expressions, they grabbed the old principal and carried him on their backs. They didn't know where the next explosion would hit the school, but saving as many people as possible was the priority. Despite the excruciating pain, he rescued the older teachers and students first. Then, he gathered a few strong young students to help rescue the teachers and students buried in the rubble. Xiao Se could only feel his ears ringing; the explosions were just too loud.
"You all need to get out of here quickly! Wait for the rescue team; the students' safety is paramount."
Teachers and students evacuated one after another. Fortunately, not many people were looking up information in the library. When the last building was detonated, some students had already heard the commotion outside and ran out of the building.
Gravel fell into his eyes, and Xiao Se felt it getting in his eyes in the blink of an eye. He was so uncomfortable that no matter how much he blinked, he couldn't get the small stone out. Tears streamed down Xiao Se's face as he continued to worry about the people on the teaching building.
"It's... Vivi! Vivi's come to save us! Let's push her away with all our might!"
"Stop pushing! It's already blocked. If you push, something will fall downstairs and hurt innocent people. Tear the curtains down and force them through the door!"
Lin Weiwei glanced down; she was a meter away from the window. The railing had been blown up, blocking her path, and she needed to jump across in one breath. Below her lay a full forty meters of the Earth's surface, and the walls were cracked at a forty-five-degree angle, threatening to collapse the entire building at any moment. The despicable villains had already blown up the central beam.
Take a deep breath as the situation becomes urgent, imagine the suspended part as a hurdle, don't look down or open your eyes, treat it like a regular special agent training camp, half-squat down and raise your legs to stretch your ligaments, forcefully pull the curtain out from the crack in the door.
"I can do it! Go, Lin Weiwei!" She cheered herself on, mustered her courage, and roared, "Ah..." She closed her eyes, curled up, and did a side somersault across the half-suspended stairwell, firmly gripping the railing. No, the distance was too far; she should jump closer.
"Grab it, Vivi, give us your hand!"
Several male students climbed out of the window and grabbed Lin Weiwei at the last second, pulling her up forcefully.
"Who's injured?"
"Ma Fei, Ma Fei is the most seriously injured, he's sitting outside the window."
Their hearts pounded as they carried the blood-covered, pale-faced man out. Lin Weiwei tied a curtain to him and patted his cheek; he was completely numb. He was injured in the temple, and his internal organs had been punctured by shards of glass, causing significant blood loss. Several of the male classmates were terrified and shed tears, but she remained calm because there was still a pulse, meaning he was still alive.
The principle of a parachute is to use air resistance to reduce descent speed. A larger canopy increases drag during freefall, reducing the descent speed so that the person reaches the ground at a speed the body can withstand. She tied all the curtains to herself and Ma Fei, clung to Ma Fei's arms, took a deep breath, and jumped from the sixth floor.
"A student has jumped from the building! Go catch him!"
Upon hearing the sound, Xiao Se's hands were already stained with blood and burning with pain. He had successfully rescued two classmates by throwing them with his bare hands. When the familiar voice landed safely, he breathed a sigh of relief. This woman was truly clever.
"Where's the school doctor? Where did he go? Let him come and stop the bleeding."
After rescuing Ma Fei, Lin Weiwei felt lightheaded and was able to bring two people down with her. She then carried a bunch of curtains up to the sixth floor.
Her palms were sweaty, her back was soaked, and her hair was wet and matted together. Just as she climbed to the fifth floor, her legs went weak and she knelt on one knee. A silver needle was stuck in her kneecap.
Damn it! When did it fly over here? Looks like I was careless; the Flying Needle Rain is still on campus.
She pulled hard, and no matter what she did, she couldn't stop the direction of her progress, but she didn't realize that her speed was gradually slowing down.
"Weiwei, you've worked so hard! Go and help these two seriously injured people get down first. We're all fine, just some scrapes and cuts, don't worry about us."
"Okay, take good care of the other students."
Lin Weiwei saw that the two were also seriously injured; they had fallen from upstairs and been thrown by their classmates. One of them was breathing very weakly, but his eyes were shining, "Help me...help me..."
He breathed his last in front of her when he uttered his last two words. His eyes never left Lin Weiwei as he passed away. He had multiple fractures, and his ribs had pierced his heart. He was completely beyond saving.
"He's dead. If you don't want to die, then you'd better hold on!"
She fought back tears, her nose stinging. Even if she had to carry a dead body down the mountain, she wouldn't abandon anyone. Clutching the curtains, carrying the corpse on her back, her hands gripping another tightly, needles whizzed across her arms. She glanced in that direction at the back of a man—fat and muscular—why did he seem so familiar?
When she landed, ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the scene. She was exhausted and collapsed on the ground, feeling utterly helpless for the first time. In the face of death, how insignificant humans are! The silver needles and large amounts of anesthetic were still on her; she couldn't lift her hands.
Who is that man? Why did he hesitate to kill her when he had the chance, instead hindering her from saving people?
