Chapter Eighty-Eight: The Pursuit

On the third day, the day she was released, she stood outside the gate, ready to hail a taxi back to school. That day, she had left in a hurry and must have forgotten some details. If she had successfully entered the school and found an inside accomplice, she could start her search from that point of entry. However, the driver saw Lin Weiwei with her head bandaged from afar, and with the police station right behind her, he didn't think she was a good person and refused to give her a ride.

Beep beep beep

The horn blared, and Lin Weiwei glanced at the Pagani diagonally opposite her. Pretending not to see it, she walked towards the sidewalk, the horn continuing to sound with her steps. She sighed, opened the door, and got in.

"Is the spaceship finished?" That was the first question she asked him. There was really no other reason for her to contact him, since she was very busy.

"It's not that fast. Whether it's manpower or materials, some people spend their whole lives building spaceships. Where do you want to go?"

Worried that Lin Weiwei might come down again, Li Yao locked the car doors from the inside and parked it in a parking space, stating the facts. He wasn't Xiao Aotian, a top-ranking rich man with substantial manpower and capital output; powerful figures in Mangshi were authorized to carry guns and manufacture weapons.

"Then why did you agree to it? It seems Earth is still quite backward, not as developed as Mercury. I'm sorry, I misspoke."

The fact that this matter was only brought up today was both frustrating and disheartening, giving her hope only to dash it later. A lifetime is too long; wouldn't she be stuck on Earth forever? She tried to leave but found the door locked—a cunning fox.

Li Yao opened the driver's side door and sat in the back seat with her. It turned out she really was from Mercury. Two months ago, while observing the galaxy, he noticed Mercury was exceptionally bright, and that day all the stars were orbiting Mercury—an unusual omen, indicating the birth of a beloved child.

He cupped her face in his hands, pinning her against the wall in the back seat. His throat was a little hoarse, and his hand slid over her thigh. He had no interest in any woman, but over the years, it was only during a high-speed car ride that he rediscovered that feeling.

Lin Weiwei watched the fox chopping oil and eating tofu, and knew what he was thinking. She raised her leg and kneed him in the stomach, and when she stood up, her head hit the roof of the car.

"Ouch, that hurts. It seems I still need to continue with the anti-inflammatory injections. Your body needs to be recuperated, otherwise you won't be able to have children in the future. I said the spaceship would take time, but I didn't say it couldn't be done. With a capable assistant like you, three years would be enough."

As she lifted her leg, Li Yao noticed the deep redness and swelling on the inside of her thigh. He adjusted his glasses and said seriously, "..." He looked away, got out of the car, and returned to the driver's seat.

"I do want to pursue you, but I'm not a lecherous old man; I can still control myself. Girl, where are we going?"

She... didn't care about all that. As a female special agent, her period came and went, sometimes stopping for half a year at a time, and she didn't pay attention to it at all because of long-term fatigue. If she could, she would hope that period would never come again, as it was really troublesome to have it every month.

So, she didn't even realize she was pregnant at the time because she was already used to it. It's so embarrassing for a girl to be lectured like this by an older man about her period, that she'll never wear such short skirts again, because the doctor said she should wear breathable clothing that isn't too tight when she has inflammation, so she's been wearing them like this for the past few days.

"You! Go...go to school!" She blushed, put her feet together, and muttered softly with her head down.

The person who saw her doing this in the rearview mirror only thought that she had such a clumsy side. He said he looked at her pants, but half of his peaks were already covered in snow.

Outside the school gate, he helped her carry her things, and they went up to the teaching building together. But when they reached the classroom door, she wouldn't let him in.

"No need to see me off anymore. Give me your backpack and go back to your lab."

"No, I want to sit in on the conversation and help you with the investigation."

Since he arranged for Han Han to bomb the building, there's been no news of her. This woman is becoming increasingly unruly, trying to escape control. The case these past few days must still be related to her, so coming together to investigate will surely yield clues.

They couldn't argue with him. Everyone had seen Li Yao before entering the classroom, so they naturally couldn't forget him, but they were annoyed by how Xiao Se's uncle was always with Lin Weiwei.

During the break, Lin Weiwei nodded to Li Yao behind her and walked towards Teacher Luo's office. The body was found on the playground, but that was during evening tutoring class, so she should have been preparing lessons. She tore off the seal and went inside, and the pungent smell of blood hit her nose.

Li Yao picked up a magnifying glass and looked at the footprints on the ground. Both of them were wearing shoe covers, and before the incident, they had sprinkled some powder on them; the two footprints were indeed there. Sure enough, she had an accomplice. The shoe size was so large; it must have been a man.

"Filter powder is really powerful. Look at those feet, there probably aren't many people in the school who have them, right?"

Lin Weiwei went forward to check. The figure was three arm spans long, probably around 46 yards, and a figure was fleeing outside the door. She immediately chased after him, kicked him, and tackled him to the ground.

Looking closer, I realized he was from the preparatory class, and apparently the class monitor. He even participated in the class monitors' meeting and the selection of the most beautiful and handsome students in the school. "Tell me, how did she contact you, or I'll throw you off the sixth floor!"

Lin Weiwei's reputation at school was still terrifying, so much so that he wet his pants.

“I’ll talk! I’ll talk! I originally planned to come today to wipe away the footprints, but I was careless. I’m familiar with the school’s security cameras, so I tampered with them beforehand, putting glue on the drain pipes when I was watering the plants. Then, Han Han, wearing my school uniform, and I was there to cover for him as he entered the school.”

"Why did you do this?" Even tigers don't eat their cubs. Teachers are like second parents to students on their life's journey, let alone your homeroom teacher.

The man gritted his teeth, grabbed Lin Weiwei by the collar, and said, "Since the truth has been exposed, there's no need to hide it anymore. Of course it's you. You took too many good spots, while I... have nothing. What's most infuriating is that your teacher actually campaigned for you. Teacher Luoluo is already our class advisor!"

He hated everything and resented the teacher's favoritism. Han Han was his elementary school classmate, so they naturally had contact.

“Go on, I’m recording a video.” Li Yao had already taken out his phone, ready to go. Lin Weiwei was made a scapegoat because there wasn’t enough evidence.

"You want to find her? Haha, Caohai Park is so big, take your time looking." The man who spoke closed his eyes. An accomplice who commits murder will either be executed or sentenced to life imprisonment. The college student broke down in that instant. He pushed Lin Weiwei away, climbed the wall, and fell heavily from the sixth floor.

suicide

They had a lead, but their last hope was just an address: Caohai Park, which cost over 100 million yuan to build and is the world's largest park, reportedly half the size of Mangshi, bordering Xihong City. It was indeed difficult to find, and telling the police would only cause too much noise, and they'd probably run away again.
