Chapter Fifty-One: Please Wake Up

It's Li Yao!

"Where's Lin Weiwei? I'm asking you, where is she?"

Vivi...

She turned around abruptly and found herself kneeling outside the mine; she was still inside.

"You said you like him, how could you forget that you like her?" Li Yao shouted excitedly.

He forgot...

All he remembered was that when he faced Lin Weiwei, all he could think about was how she had deceived him and used him to get close to Old Man Xiao. He also remembered her arrogant and rude behavior in vying for the position of leader of Preparatory Class Seven. All his disgust blinded him, and all he could think about was that repeated phrase: "Kill her and I can be the leader again; kill her and no one will bother me anymore."

"No……"

Li Yao went to call the nearby villagers, who took out hoes and began to throw stones, lamenting the young man buried in the ground.

Seeing Xiao Se heartbroken and sobbing uncontrollably, he said, "Young man, take care of yourself and prepare yourself mentally."

Even if someone were thrown out of such a deep mine, they would likely die from lack of breath.

I don't want you to die! Absolutely not! He frantically paddled forward, blood streaming from both hands.

Li Yao didn't even try to stop Xiao Se. It was too late for him to do anything now. He took off Xiao Se's glasses, handed the last of his money to the hardworking villagers to dump the ore, and then grabbed Xiao Se by the collar and punched him in the face. "What a piece of trash! You can't even protect your own woman."

Seeing Xiao Se's face swollen and bruised, the villagers pleaded, "Don't be so harsh on this kid. He's already heartbroken enough. You should go play somewhere else, not in this mine. We don't even know when he appeared here."

One hour, two hours...

Until someone in the crowd exclaimed, "Found it!"

Lin Weiwei was pinned down by a wooden stake, her upper body exposed. The group worked together to push the stake away and throw her out.

Looking at her lying on the ground, in the hospital… He held the person before him, her eyes tightly shut. His thighs trembled as he stood up, from kneeling for so long. His hands were swollen and red like pig's trotters. She'd woken up even after so much anesthesia in the hospital—who was she? She was Lin Weiwei. She couldn't have died like this. He grabbed a villager and demanded, "Where's the hospital?"

There were no hospitals in this remote, impoverished place, far from any village or shop. No one answered his words; his sobbing replaced all other words, and he felt sorry for the girl.

"What are you crying for? She's not dead! I won't allow you to cry! Laugh, all of you!"

He's gone mad...

At this moment, some people in the crowd cried even louder. They had tried their best to rescue him in the shortest possible time. Some of them stepped forward and pressed on his shoulders, afraid that Xiao Se might do something rash and commit suicide. He sniffed and felt as if there was a thorn stuck in his throat, making it difficult to speak.

She slept so peacefully, like Sleeping Beauty; the dusty little face couldn't hide her beauty.

As the night passed, Ma Fei and several classmates were very saddened when they learned the truth. After bathing Lin Weiwei's body, according to custom, she should be placed in a coffin, a funeral service should be held, and then she should be buried. Li Yao could not accept such a scene and left the eastern suburbs early.

However, Xiao Se had been constantly washing his body with water since he returned; his hands were filthy, covered in the blood from killing Lin Weiwei. At the burial, he locked everyone out, holding her hands tightly, pleading, "Please wake up. Hit me again, lecture me again, call me a hooligan again."

Wake up, Lin Weiwei, or I'll kiss you.

He kept nagging in her ear, but she still didn't react at all.

"You haven't told me your answer yet, how can you leave?"

Memories flashed through his mind. She was always aloof and indifferent. The first time he invited her to dinner because of his quick tongue, she ignored him and drew the curtains. He thought then that she had a meddlesome heart but lacked the charm of a girl's coquettishness. The first time he saw her in a pencil skirt, he was stunned. He realized that such a cold girl could possess intellectual beauty when she dressed up. The first time he wanted to thank her, his pride got stuck in his throat…

So many firsts were brought to him by her: from dislike to curiosity, from gradually discovering her good qualities to wanting to help her, from feeling heartbroken seeing her isolated to confronting the classmates who threw things at her desk. I don't know when I fell in love with her, but please don't leave me.

He held her head and kissed her cold lips again, resting his head on her lower abdomen, but she still didn't react.

"Hey, hey, hey, you're a secret agent, aren't you kidding me?"

He shook her body, then punched her in the chest with one last punch. She coughed and coughed... spitting out a mouthful of mineral powder, and sat up.

"Are you trying to die?!"

I'm awake! I'm finally awake.

His body trembled with excitement as he hugged her tightly, saying, "You scared Daddy to death!"

"Who are you calling Dad?"

Lin Weiwei pinched Xiao Se's ear. His face was swollen like a pig's head. He really had forgotten the pain once the wound healed. She remembered that so-and-so was in the mine, laughing arrogantly and saying that whoever lost would recognize him as his dad. In the end, he was beaten until he vomited blood and clapped his hands together, groaning and begging for mercy, calling her dad.

"You are my daddy," Xiao Se chuckled, sticking out his tongue and pouting as he muttered.

Just then, the students outside heard the commotion and burst through the door. A-Mo fainted from fright. The others seemed used to it; they were initially surprised but didn't run away in a panic like before. They touched their hearts.

"Wow, that's amazing..."

"Mama Mia"

Hearing Xiao Se call Lin Weiwei "Daddy," he echoed, "Daddy?"

"Sigh," I feel like I'm getting carried away, with a bunch of kids now, haha.
