Chapter Ninety: The Most Perfect Face

Lin Weiwei and the others waited at the door for a day and a night. Finally, everyone came out, but no one was seen, not even Li Yao or the tour group leader. No one could contact them; they couldn't get through on the phone.

"You guys go back first, I'll wait a bit longer."

It's all my fault. I was too hasty and fell into their trap. Han Han is indeed cunning. I underestimated this woman. My heart is pounding. It's so strange... Why am I so nervous about Li Yao, and why do I feel a fear of losing him? Maybe it's out of self-blame. If he hadn't come, everything would have been fine. After all, it's my personal matter, Lin Weiwei's, and has nothing to do with him.

She neither ate nor drank and continued to wait outside the gate of Caohai Park, watching the tourists coming and going, as well as the police coming and going, but she could not find him. She unlocked her phone countless times, watching the time pass by, wondering whether she should rush in.

An ominous premonition came over her, but when she saw a group of police officers come out, followed by a man covered in mud with messy hair, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and excitedly went up to hug him.

"Why are you so slow!" Lin Weiwei's words carried a hint of reproach.

"Hmm, I'm sorry to have worried you, sweetie." Li Yao patted her head, but when he felt something soft against his heart, he picked up the person who had fainted from hunger and looked at her with a face full of doting affection. He took her to Ma Fei's house and then returned to the research lab.

After taking a fragrant bath, he put on his surgical gown and cap, unlocked the lab with his fingerprint, looked around, and went inside when no one was there. On the cold operating table sat a person and a corpse.

"Do I really want to become her? But what I want is Lin Weiwei's face."

Do you think you have a choice?

I can give you life, or I can give you death, allowing you to linger on the brink of death while still living a life of luxury.

Han Han swallowed hard, looked at the masked man, and closed his eyes slightly. Soon he would be a different person, living in this world.

Several hours later, she woke up again, holding a mirror and looking at her face. Her infinite healing ability had perfectly integrated into her skin, and there was no trace of the surgery. The plastic surgery was a success—no! To be specific, the face transplant was a success. Her lips smiled naturally, her hair was as black as ink, her nose was a French-style nose, her profile was perfectly proportioned at a 45-degree angle, and her face was a pointed chin and oval shape.

Why should I become Xiao's first love? He's already moved on from his grief.

"You don't understand men at all. Every man's first love is like a god in his heart, something that can never be erased. Now you're going to study at a girls' college to get closer to Xiao Se."

This perfect face is nothing more than a man's first love.

Is it always true that you live a life predetermined by others? She glanced at the corpse beside her, and at her face from before. How many years had it been since she died? To preserve the body so well—Li Yao was truly a monster in the scientific research world.

However, she would be willing to do anything as long as Xiao Se could return to her side and forget Lin Weiwei.

Overnight, she became a different person, but her heart will always be with that person.

All the evidence against Lin Weiwei was conclusive that she was not the one who killed the person, and the police also removed her from the suspect list. He made a basket of small steamed buns and three steamed breads, and took the initiative to visit Li Yao. When he opened the door, he saw a figure in a white dress standing in front of him. She had removed the gauze from her head and was wearing a wig and hat.

"Um, may I come in?" She blushed, handed him the things in her hands, and found a comfortable sofa to sit on.

Seeing the soft, purplish-red steamed buns made him feel more hungry. He poured himself a glass of milk, took a bite, and chewed it. He thought it was sweet and had a hint of black dragon fruit flavor. Not bad! Quite creative.

"I never imagined that someone who seems so aloof could actually make such delicious and loving breakfasts."

Actually, he never eats breakfast because he often sleeps very late and can eat lunch when he wakes up. But today is an exception. His eyes are bloodshot and he is yawning.

"Thank you so much... for providing me with the strongest evidence, and for accompanying me all the way. I'm so sorry for the trouble you've caused!"

Lin Weiwei stood up and bowed to him to express her sincerest gratitude. Gifts were too cheap; only a homemade breakfast could show true sincerity. However, it wasn't the kind of breakfast of love he was talking about—it wasn't...

blush?

Li Yao took off her glasses, rubbed her eyes (it was 8:30, she was up quite early), wiped her mouth, and after eating and drinking her fill, sleepiness washed over her. She walked over to her and took off her hat. "How ugly you are. The real you is the most beautiful."

It has to be admitted that girls always love to hear things like that. She never wears makeup, and she was actually quite upset about losing her hair. After all, Lin Weiwei is a girl too, and she cares about her appearance. She buried her head even deeper, not daring to look up at the person in front of her.

Li Yao took off his coat, picked her up, and carried her to the bedroom.

"No! Put me down!" She struggled in his arms, kicking her legs and pushing him away.

"Shh...be good, be quiet. This is a research lab. If they say Section Chief Li is keeping a mistress, you'll be on the news again. Sleep with me for a while."

Lin Weiwei really wanted to slap him, but looking at his tired expression, the faint fragrance, his thumb-sized Adam's apple, and his weathered voice, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

In a daze, the two of them were already lying on the same bed. His arms were around her body, and she was tense all over, feeling as if she were being electrocuted. How could she let a man do this to her... She couldn't think about it that way; she wasn't a yaoi fangirl.

He placed a hand on her abdomen, and since he wasn't rejected, he gently rubbed her abdomen, feeling the warmth emanating from it.

So comfortable... Lin Weiwei also felt a little sleepy. This technique had relieved a lot of the pain in her lower body.

"Wear more next time!" Li Yao's voice was hoarse. He rested his head on her shoulder, keeping his legs between his legs without pressing down on her. He was restraining himself because of the strange sensation in his body. If he rolled over, he probably wouldn't be able to hold it in anymore.

He's a normal man. How could he not be tempted by such a beautiful girl lying next to him? But he wouldn't do anything inappropriate without permission.

"Huh? Hmm?"

Lin Weiwei didn't speak, because she could hear snoring, and that large hand was still resting on her lower abdomen; her heart was pounding. If only he were Dr. Li… then they could go back to Mercury together. A sweet smile on her lips, she leaned against his head and fell asleep.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but Li Yao hadn't touched her at all. She'd been anxious that morning, but now that he was beside her, she felt reassured. This shift in emotions left her confused; was she starting to like Li Yao?
