Chapter Sixty-Eight Midterm Exams

In universities, midterm exams account for 15% of the final exam, and the questions are collectively set by the grade-level teachers. The day after Lin Weiwei returned, Mangxing University returned to its usual calm and began the exams. The exam hall was completely silent, and everything was conducted according to the standards of a final exam, with cameras recording the entire process and proctors taking turns on duty.

Lin Weiwei breathed a sigh of relief the moment she received the exam paper. Thankfully, she had reviewed the material the day before the exam, material she hadn't looked at in ages. There was just so much unknown about Earth; these questions seemed much harder than those on Mercury. Even with her special agent status, she was guaranteed admission. She didn't need to come to school every day for classes, quizzes, midterms, and finals.

Some students, having learned from Lin Weiwei's guidance, found effective techniques and made significant progress in the days before she arrived. Others, however, remained stagnant, resorting to last-minute cramming and relying on luck. They finished the exam sweating profusely and looking around anxiously.

As always, she was the first to leave the classroom for every subject, and the first thing she did upon returning was not to review her books or test questions, but to lie down on her desk and fall asleep.

"What should I do? My dad said I can't even pass the midterm exams, so I shouldn't even think about the finals. He wants me to go back to my hometown to develop my career." Rou Rou sat in a wheelchair. She was one of the victims in this human experimentation case and was taken in by the police for investigation.

She missed a lot of class time, so she had no time for tutoring. She was the most anxious person in the class. She had no appetite for the family bucket of chicken in front of her because leaving the preparatory class was more painful than a breakup.

"It's okay, the results aren't out yet, don't be nervous. You promised to be my bridesmaid," said Wanzi, who was very close to Rou Rou, and whose nicknames were both based on food names.

"It's okay, I'll take care of you!" Xiao Se, who had been lying on the sofa, let go of Lin Weiwei's arm and sat up.

For him, taking exams was just a formality, because he used to get by by guessing. For multiple-choice questions, the shortest answer was always the one with the most punctuation marks, and for true/false questions, the one with the most punctuation marks was wrong, while the one with the most grammatical structure was right.

He relied entirely on luck and experience to guess the exam results. While sharing his experience, he completely forgot about Lin Weiwei, who was lying on her side, and got up to slap her on the back of the head.

That familiar, crisp sound left him somewhat bewildered. Had he said something wrong?

"If you get accepted, study hard; if you don't, go back to your hometown. There's nothing wrong with going back to where you were born."

Some people are suited to studying, while others aren't. I glanced at this salted fish. Turning it around is impossible; just not causing it any trouble is a good thing.

Lin Weiwei had intended to comfort her, but her words only made Rou Rou cry. She lost even more confidence in her future and started crying while hugging Li Tao.

"You! You really don't know how to talk!" Xiao Se pressed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. Oh well, she's never been one to say anything pleasing, but there's nothing he can do about his wife.

If it were the former class leader of his preparatory class, upon hearing such words, he wouldn't have gone up and pinched her ear while brushing his teeth and rinsing his mouth, teaching her how to speak properly. In a class, when a classmate is unhappy or facing difficulties, the response should be care, not cold mockery. Speaking of which, her way of speaking makes me a little curious about what my wife's birthplace is like, and why she feels so nostalgic about it.

Ding dong ding dong

The exam was held in the morning, and the results came out in the afternoon. The midterm exams were all graded by computer, and filling in the answer sheets was very efficient.

Every exam paper was distributed to the students, and all the overall scores were calculated. When the exam paper was handed to Rou Rou, she burst into tears. She picked up the exam paper, pushed her wheelchair out, and no one noticed where she was going. She went up to the rooftop, leaning on her cane.

It was only the riot from the next class that drew everyone's attention; it turned out that Rou Rou was about to jump off the roof!

"Are you satisfied now?" Xiao Se pushed Lin Weiwei aside and hurriedly went up to the rooftop. All the classmates behind her were trying to persuade her not to go any further.

The chubby little boy had already placed one foot on the stone embankment, while the other foot was carefully trying to step on it. This attracted the attention of many teachers below, who even used bed sheets as airbags to catch him.

The rooftop is very high; this building has ten floors. The bed sheet simply couldn't support the weight. We called 120, but it still took some time.

It's over...it's all over. I couldn't even pass the midterms, let alone the finals. My family can't afford to send me to school anymore, and I'm such a disappointment. If I go back to the village, I'll be too ashamed to face my fellow villagers. I'll miss out on delicious food, and I'll have to say goodbye to my family in the preparatory class. I'll close my eyes; if I just stop looking down, I can finally be free from all this.

"I think I made a mistake in saving you back then!"

Lin Weiwei's words startled everyone, causing them to turn around. Xiao Se, unable to understand why she would speak like that at a time like this, stepped forward and covered her mouth, saying, "I don't think you're suitable to be the boss!" Rou Rou was already emotionally agitated, and this was simply adding fuel to the fire.

Did they save the wrong person? Tears streamed down her cheeks, her body convulsed, and her legs trembled, a sight that terrified onlookers.

"The Rou Rou I know is sunny, lively, and adorable. She wouldn't give up delicious food for anything. But you gave up on just a midterm exam. If I had known you were an animal with a belly full of fat, I should have just let you be thrown into the sea." Animals don't think about life like humans do, so Lin Weiwei felt that what she said was absolutely right.

Rou Rou was furious. She leaned to the side and pointed at Lin Weiwei, saying, "You!"

Her words were utterly cold-blooded and ruthless. Huh? Just as she was about to continue her verbal attack, she was pulled down from the steps, Lin Weiwei's hand gripping her arm tightly.

The student from the next class rubbed her eyes, wondering if she had seen wrong. She wasn't standing here just now; how did she suddenly pull the person down?

"What? You think you can repay me like this?"

"I……"

To be honest, when I was contemplating suicide, I didn't think about these issues; I just felt hopeless about the future.

She lowered her head in self-reproach. Either she'd get fat or she'd die from overeating, and she hadn't even managed to make herself angry to death. It really wasn't worth it. Besides, this was just the midterm exam; the final exam was still to come.

Xiao Se glanced at the still-shaken Rou Rou, grabbed Lin Weiwei's wrist, and punched her in the cheek, drawing blood from the corner of her mouth.

"Xiao Se! Lin Weiwei is pregnant! How could you hit a pregnant woman? It's just a midterm exam, what are you doing?"

"She's pregnant my foot! A woman like that doesn't even know whose child she's carrying! Let's have a showdown, Lin Weiwei!"

So unfamiliar...

The students in the preparatory class were stunned. She was pregnant with his child! He himself had admitted it, so how could he be such a different person now? And this situation was so similar to when they first met.

His eyes were filled with hatred and disdain.

He forgot he was pregnant. Lin Weiwei wiped her mouth, her eyes welling up with tears. She remembered those words: "The child isn't yours!" Very good, really very good.

Her heart ached terribly. These words, coming from his mouth, made her feel like she couldn't breathe. Xiao Se... you have really disappointed me so much.
