"Oh," Hua Ansu concluded, "Coward."
A-Gu chuckled. Meng Luo was indeed hesitant in his actions, yet he was also very ambitious and his behavior was not exactly aboveboard. He was a bit of a coward.
When Meng Luo tried to win him over, he only said, "I just want what's mine. If you insist on turning me into an enemy, there's nothing I can do."
Meng Luo didn't dare to actually touch him.
I never expected that years after he left, someone would take all his money.
He was curious about what Meng Luo did with the money.
Among the pile of things, A-Gu finally found the palm-sized black token embedded in it.
Hua Ansu asked, "What's the use of this?"
She was asking about more specific rights.
"Call upon mercenaries."
"Is Meng Luo really that stupid? Would he really give up the right to mobilize mercenaries?"
Hua Ansu had a feeling it wouldn't be that simple.
"Smart, of course he wouldn't."
Aygu said, "This token can only summon unemployed mercenaries."
"Oh, oh~"
Hua Ansu snapped her fingers. "I understand. Meng Luo wants you to take the lead. After all, those mercenaries who haven't joined the mercenary group are all troublesome enough. Aren't they all formidable characters? If these people were to come together, they would be a considerable force. He can't control them but desires them, so he's setting his sights on the number one mercenary, Zhi Su, which is you."
She clicked her tongue. "That's quite a dream."
"Will the city lord punish him for theft?"
"Um?"
A-I-Gu couldn't follow her train of thought.
Hua Ansu reminded her, "It's all about money."
"He misappropriated your money, what else is that but theft?"
She's eager to teach Meng Luo a lesson. What mercenary leader? In her eyes, he's just a petty person who deserves to be taught a lesson.
A-Gu smiled at the girl who was rubbing her hands together eagerly, "No rush, he should be arriving soon."
Hua Ansu snorted, "That would be for the best."
Ah-gu found the token and put it away; now is not the time to use it.
When the two returned home, it was completely dark, and the moon had not yet appeared. Hua Ansu used a luminous pearl to light the way for A Yigu before he opened the door.
She didn't move for a long time because she had discovered something else about A-Gu: his eyesight was poor, especially at night.
People of their caliber can see perfectly well at night.
Knowing he couldn't hide it from her, A-Yi-Gu took the initiative to explain, "The poison is about to take effect in the next couple of days, which is having some impact."
"Why are you having these attacks again? Didn't you say that as long as you don't get triggered and just let it rest, it'll be fine? Is it a recurring attack or something? What else are you hiding from me?"
Hua Ansu asked a series of questions, speaking quickly and urgently, sounding like she was being interrogated. A-Yigu knew she was worried about him, so he explained carefully, "It's a recurring episode, it happens every year before. Don't worry too much, it will be fine in three days."
Hua Ansu had a cold expression on her face.
He'd clearly controlled it all these years, it was obviously because of that time with the Snake King...
A-yi-gu touched her face.
ignore.
Then pinch the ears again.
Still ignoring it.
He suddenly frowned, making as painful a gesture as possible.
She asked hurriedly, "What's wrong?"
Ah-yi-gu said pitifully, "My legs hurt."
Hua Ansu quickly took the person back inside to check on them.
A-Gu was telling the truth; his legs were indeed starting to hurt and felt extremely cold.
Hua Ansu rolled up his trouser leg and rubbed it for him, looking at him, "Does that make you feel any better?"
Her palms were warm from the energy she was accumulating.
He wasn't actually feeling well, but he nodded, "Much better."
