Chapter 269 Ruan Geng "Behaves" (2)

(These three chapters will be revised tomorrow~)

It was a rainy day.

Mu Zixi walked slowly along the soaked asphalt road, her steps incredibly slow, as if she were trapped in time itself. The rain was so heavy that the raindrops pounded on the ground and splashed back up, soaking the hem of her lotus-patterned skirt. What use was a large umbrella? It couldn't stop the rain; everything she did was in vain.

Her grip on the umbrella tightened, her hair turning white. Only seven years had passed, yet everything had changed. Even this alleyway dedicated to wine had transformed.

She left the country in a sorry state back then, but what she should have let go of only grew deeper and deeper, piercing her heart like needles every moment. This time she came back for no particular reason, just to see her homeland and familiar things. As for the people she used to know, she knew she didn't have the courage.

Finally, Mu Zixi stopped in front of a noodle shop. She stood there for a long time before stepping inside. Compared to other places, nothing had changed; it was exactly the same as before. She stood there stunned for a long time until someone called out to her:

"Young lady, are you here for noodles? The noodles look unfamiliar; is this your first time here?"

The voice was clear and crisp. Mu Zixi looked up and saw a young woman with a prominent belly, clearly pregnant. She nodded, her voice hoarse, quite unlike her appearance, "A large bowl of beef noodles, no scallions or garlic, thank you."

Ding Lan was slightly taken aback, then called out to the inner room, "Brother Qian, a big bowl of beef noodles, no scallions or garlic."

When she turned around, Mu Zixi was nowhere to be seen. After looking around, she found her sitting in the corner by the window, staring blankly at the empty seat opposite her, her beautiful eyes devoid of any light.

Ding Lan raised an eyebrow. This scene seemed familiar. However, she couldn't recall where she had seen Mu Zixi before. She walked over, supporting her back, and deliberately pulled the stool further away to sit down. She was eight months pregnant and had to be careful. She shouldn't have come to the shop to help out, but her husband couldn't persuade her otherwise.

Seeing Mu Zixi's questioning gaze, Ding Lan smiled kindly: "Hello, my name is Ding Lan. What's your name, young lady?"

“Mu Zixi”.

"What a lovely name. Hey, you look familiar, haven't we met somewhere before?" She's also very pretty, what a pity. What's a pity? Her voice is really unpleasant, hoarse, like an old woman's. She probably caught a cold because of the cool weather, especially since it's raining.

Mu Zixi was taken aback, and said dryly, "I don't think I've seen her. After all, I haven't been in the country for many years." Perhaps she had seen her in the newspapers, since what happened back then was a big deal and everyone knew about it.

"Oh..." Ding Lan pouted, seemingly a little disappointed, but quickly became excited, her two adorable dimples making Mu Zixi momentarily dazed.

She kept talking: "Wow, you came back from abroad? I heard that foreigners are all very tall! Which country did you live in..."

Mu Zixi lowered her eyebrows; even their personalities are so similar.

Just as the bowl of noodles was placed steadily on the table, a voice that was all too familiar rang out: "Guest, your noodles."

Mu Zixi suddenly looked up and saw the same familiar face.

The man was also visibly taken aback, his gaze complex, but he quickly recovered, revealing the joy of seeing an old friend: "It's you, Zixi! Why didn't you let me know you were coming back to the country? I could have come to pick you up!" Before Mu Zixi could react, he turned to Ding Lan and said, "Wife, this is my sister Mu Zixi, whom I told you about living abroad."

Mu Zixi's face stiffened. He was married? She stared intently into his eyes, only to receive calm in return. His eyes told her that he had let go of everything and had started a completely new life.
