That night, the dim moonlight lazily lay over the seemingly endless dense forest, unwilling to descend. The forest was like a thick ink spilled on the earth, pitch black and eerily silent, with occasional calls from unknown creatures, as if warning strangers not to approach.
Just then, the sound of a car engine drew closer and finally stopped at the edge of the woods. The rustling of human voices could be heard, accompanied by a silvery glow.
"Boss, this place is so creepy, could it be haunted?"
"Ghost my ass! Be brave!"
"Yes... but I've heard that wolves roam this forest..."
"What are you afraid of? Don't forget we brought weapons! We'll take them on one by one! Besides, this is the edge of the forest, where would any wolves come from?"
“But Miss Jiang told us to throw her deep into the forest… wouldn’t there be wolves if we went in? Boss… I’m scared…”
The man called "boss" glared at his timid and stupid underling in the light, "She told you to throw it in the deepest part, so you just threw it in the deepest part? How could you be so stupid! Two or three hundred meters is about enough, that woman isn't going to come to this godforsaken place to check!"
"Yeah... Boss, you're really smart!"
A few more minutes passed.
"Boss, shall we just leave him here?"
"Okay, I'll throw it here!"
With a thud, the girl being carried by the two men was dropped without any mercy. She rolled over without realizing it, revealing her fair face with a few strands of hair sticking to her face in a mess. Even in her disheveled state, her beauty was still captivating.
The younger brother couldn't help but swallow hard. "Boss, this woman is beautiful and young, how about we..."
Upon hearing this, the leader slapped his underling across the face, leaving him dizzy and disoriented. "Are you out of your mind? You're afraid of ghosts and wolves, but not dead people? Go ahead and do it yourself, I'm leaving!"
The boss left without warning, and the underling quickly followed, "Hey, boss, wait for me, I was just saying..."
"Boss, it's just that she's too beautiful. It's a pity to waste such a beauty. You should have been gentler with her back then, otherwise we could have had some fun...hehe..."
"Pah! Who would want to touch a dying man? It's bad luck! You spineless coward, come on, I'll take you to Drunk Lady's place and find a couple of young women to play with!"
"Thanks, boss!"
...
The two voices faded into the distance, and the girl lay silently on the damp grass, motionless, as if she were dead.
After a long, long time, perhaps drawn by the smell of blood, the howling of wolves came from afar, growing ever closer...
The insects were so startled that they stopped in their tracks, and in the next instant, they all scurried into their shelters, too afraid to come out.
Only a few specks of firefly light illuminate this desolate little place. The fireflies of late summer seem to have weathered storms, remaining calm and composed as they continue to dance slowly and steadily.
Five minutes passed.
Swish—
A massive black shadow leaped across the grass. In the darkness, it could be roughly identified by the faint glow of light as a ferocious carnivore. Its vision seemed unaffected by the night. It moved with precise steps toward the girl, stopped, lowered its head, and licked the bloodstains on her cheek...
"Awooo—"
It suddenly raised its head, let out a long cry to the sky, and then circled around the girl's body, seemingly wondering where to begin its attack...
The scene: a breathless moment before the cruelty.
I doubt anyone would bear to see such a beautiful woman devoured by a wild beast.
But in the deep forest at night, how could anyone possibly feel sorry for her?
