Red wine poisoning case 1.8

Red wine poisoning case 1.8

dark.

The buzzing of electricity pressed in from all directions, like countless tiny needles piercing the skin and drilling into the bone marrow.

Fan Jinci stood in the center of the laboratory, his hands and feet bound by metal shackles. The cold touch told him that this was not reality, but a dream.

But the pain was terrifyingly real.

“M-0, today we’re going to test your neural tolerance limits.”

A gloved hand reached over and adjusted the electrodes on his temple. Fan Jinci couldn't see the other person's face, only smelling the pungent odor of disinfectant mixed with the sweet, fishy smell of some kind of nerve suppressant.

Are you ready?

—Zhi.

The instant the electric current coursed through his body, his vision went completely white. His muscles spasmed, and a metallic taste rose in his throat, but his vocal cords were paralyzed by the drugs, preventing him from even screaming.

"Great, the pain threshold has exceeded expectations."

The pen scratched on the paper as it recorded.

"Next, the memory erasure test."

A hand roughly turned his chin, forcing him to look at the glass cabin on his right—

Inside, a thin boy, about eight or nine years old, was curled up, with a pair of empty eyes set in his pale face.

Yan Kang.

"M-12, saying hello to you."

The boy's lips moved mechanically: "Brother...save me..."

That's not a human voice. It's electronically synthesized; it's fake.

But Fan Jinci's heart was still clenched tightly.

"Now, the choice," the lab technician's voice seemed to come from a great distance, "continue the test, or have him take double the dose for you."

The electrodes were reattached to his sun.

"Three, two..."

"Fan Jinci!"

A low shout cleaved through the dream.

Fan Jinci suddenly opened his eyes, his back soaked in cold sweat, and his breathing was as rapid as if he had just run ten kilometers.

Yu Yan's face was inches away, his brows furrowed, his palm pressed against Yu Yan's cheek: "Did you have a nightmare?"

Thunder rumbled outside the window, and raindrops pounded against the glass like a rapid knocking.

Fan Jinci didn't answer. He subconsciously tried to break free, but found that Yu Yan's arm was across his waist, the force neither too light nor too heavy, yet it made him unable to move.

"Let go," he said in a hoarse voice.

"I won't let go." Yu Yan tightened his arms instead, pulling him closer to his chest. "You were shaking like a leaf just now."

Fan Jinci closed his eyes.

The static from his dream still seemed to echo in his ears, and Yan Kang's mechanical eyes lingered. He loathed this feeling of being out of control, and even more so, he loathed his current weakness—

Ke Yuyan's body temperature was too high.

Like a ball of fire, it burned through the ice layer of the nightmare.

"..."

Finally, Fan Jinci silently turned his head and rested his forehead on Yu Yan's shoulder.

This is a compromise that is almost imperceptible.

Yu Yan's Adam's apple bobbed, and he placed his palm on the back of Yu Yan's neck, his fingertips gently kneading the tense muscles: "That stupid experiment... did you torture yourself like this all the time?"

Fan Jinci did not answer.

But Yu Yan felt the body in his arms stiffen slightly for a moment.

"It's nothing." He lowered his head, his lips almost touching Fan Jinci's hair. "If anyone dares to touch you in the future, I'll kill them."

His tone was fierce, but his actions were incredibly gentle.

Fan Jinci silently gripped the hem of Yu Yan's clothes.

Outside the window, the torrential rain had not stopped.
