Chapter 16 Chapter 16

Chapter 16 Chapter 16

Megan followed Tail slowly to the cafeteria. Here she had to raise her hand to take the plate and look at the dishes. As she was about to move, Killer Croc helped her take the plate and waved it in front of her, but Megan's reaction was very slow.

A pitch-black, sharp claw that could even crush concrete and steel bars rubbed her shoulder with its smooth curved surface and pushed her forward. Megan finally understood what he meant and followed him, her eyes falling on his drooping claw again.

Killer Croc served her food. Considering that children don't eat much and are more sensitive to taste, he didn't want to bully a child. He scooped up some food that he thought normal people would like, such as grilled sausages, seared shrimps, bacon, a little salad and a glass of orange juice. He also took the tender steak that was almost raw for him.

He seemed not to even look behind him, but he was aware of her every move. He put her plate on the table and went to eat somewhere else. In the past, Killer Croc never avoided anyone seeing him eating raw meat dripping with blood, but now he paid attention to it.

Scarecrow Jonathan Crane arrived before them and watched the whole thing. With a gloomy and hypocritical smile on his face, he picked up his plate and sat on the chair next to Megan, not caring that the child was ignoring the outside world. He rested his elbows on the table and pointed at Megan with a fork in one hand.

He called out, "Hey, look who's here? Our little star from Arkham." He was used to putting on a pretentious tone, but he tried too hard, and the sarcasm in his voice couldn't be hidden.

The scarecrow moved closer to her and said, "Can you talk to me? I heard your dad got angry and beat you up. It was just a joke, right?"

There was a rumor in Arkham's high-risk zone that the Joker beat up Megan, and this was not without basis. First of all, the criminals in the nearby cells heard the sound of debris collapsing and crowbars hitting the ground. Secondly, the child had not appeared for more than a week.

She showed up today - in their opinion, she had recovered from her injuries. The weather now was much better than the winter when she first arrived, with the average temperature around 10 degrees Celsius. The clothes she wore were also relatively thin, and her clothes were altered from prison uniforms, with wide sleeves and trouser legs. When she raised her hand, they could see some bruises that had not yet disappeared.

Scarecrow was gloating. He wouldn't do anything to Megan physically, but he enjoyed the boring act of talking to a little fool. Maybe it was because she was a quiet listener and wouldn't suddenly attack. She was very civilized.

Megan ignored him, but this did not stop Scarecrow from being sarcastic, and many people looked down on him for his behavior.

Two-Face gave the coin to Megan, but he had no obligation to protect the clown's fun, so he looked at him indifferently. However, the Mad Hatter, who had been in solitary confinement for a long time and had just been released from the cell, was curious about the new kid.

The Mad Hatter paid more attention to young girls. In the past, his targets were more likely to be girls with blonde hair and blue eyes, as they were more in line with the image of 'Alice'. But now he saw this child...

With black hair and green eyes, she looked very different from Alice, and she was a little too thin and short.

But he picked up his teacup and muttered to himself, already caught up in a delusion from which he could not escape, "How could she not be Alice? She also fell into the rabbit hole, and there are many dangers here, too. Oh, and there are many characters like us, both good and bad, and some of them are crazy people who want to chop off her head."

"Who will save my Alice..."

He murmured to himself, suddenly filled with pity for the child. He was the Mad Hatter in the fairy tale, and he should be by her side. This was his mission. He would invite Alice to his tea party and talk freely at the table under the big tree - they would say some nonsensical things and tell crazy stories.

He thought so, but the other mentally ill criminals around him knew what was wrong with him and shouted, "Hey! Baldy, wake up, she's not your Alice, she's the clown's, do you understand? The clown's hahahahahaha!"

The Mad Hatter was stung by the word "bald". He also wore an exaggerated tall top hat in Arkham because of his inferiority complex about his height and a minor accident that left him a little bald. This was a problem in his heart.

A dwarf went crazy in the cafeteria and flipped the plate over. Like many criminals engaged in scientific research, he was keen on small toys. Even the prison could not hinder their research and handicrafts. He immediately took out a gun from his tall round hat and shot directly. The expression on his face was extremely vicious and he did not hold back at all.

In the chaos, another dwarf was still eating her lunch, without even the slightest thought of looking up to see what was happening, she had no idea that someone was going crazy for her.

When a man fell towards their table, Scarecrow raised his hand to block his falling body and pushed him away with disgust. He sneered and turned to look at Megan.

"Look at how charming you are, my good boy. Everyone is fighting over you."

But he continued to wear a mocking smile on his face, "Why did the clown still want to teach you a lesson? Could it be that you are not like that in fact, and are actually a bad boy in private?"

Then his dinner plate was smashed by Killer Croc.

The scarecrow was covered in food. He stood up in frustration and cast an angry look at Killer Croc, but he had no poison gas in his hand, so he had no way of dealing with the monster in front of him and could only swallow his anger.

Megan slowly finished her meal, and Killer Croc was waiting for her beside her. She was small and her steps were slow, but Killer Croc had to keep the same speed while walking beside her, which made him look a little funny, but no one dared to laugh at her, and no one dared to provoke this purest and most brutal monster in Arkham, because you know, he can tear them all to pieces with his bare hands.

They left, but the chaos in the cafeteria continued. Only the Mad Hatter was going crazy, while others had to hide from gunfire. More people left after finishing their meals or without finishing them.

After all, there was a gang fight in Arkham, and the prison guards who only came to perform their duties occasionally had to deal with it, and someone had to be put in solitary confinement.

Walking in the empty corridor, Megan's pace slowed down. Killer Croc was going back to his special cell, so he walked in front.

Megan saw the hand and the tail again, and she didn't know what to do——

She seemed to be somewhat conscious, but very confused and unable to form a complete logical thinking process.

So the coin in her pocket rolled to the ground, making a sound she had only heard today. The sound of metal hitting the ground was crisp, and seemed to have a bit of reverberation. When it fell and spun, there was an inexplicable attraction.

Circle after circle, the coin finally stopped moving and the sound disappeared. Suddenly, a huge roar like thunder rang in her ears, but Megan did not react. She just lowered her head and saw that the monster squatting beside her was still huge, and its thick arms could almost match four of her.

He stretched out his sharp claws to pick up the small coin and pretended to hand it to her. Megan was probably in a daze. They were in a stalemate. If Megan didn't move, he wouldn't move.

When Megan responded, instead of taking the coin, she reached out and grabbed the sharp claw.

The sound of wind and breathing echoed in the empty passage. Killer Croc finally broke the distance and picked her up. He had heard that the Joker gave her freedom and allowed her to move freely in Arkham. More than a week ago, she was wandering around everywhere, and except for squatting in a corner in a daze, only Two-Face paid attention to her. No one else chose to approach her, so he chose to pick her up.

The cell where Killer Croc was held was specially made. After all, he was huge and needed a humid and watery environment. When they walked through the widened and raised large passage, they passed by an equally specially made cell. Although there was light in the room, nothing could be seen through the window.

Megan sat on Killer Croc's arm. When she looked out, she saw a pool of mud stuck on the window. It even slowly squirmed and soon turned into a completely alien and terrifying face, but only the rough outline was visible. No eyeballs could be seen in the whites of the eyes, but it seemed to be staring at Megan.

"who is she?"

His voice was slow, muffled, and difficult to understand, as if it was squeezed out of his throat with great difficulty, but Killer Croc had already walked down the stairs carrying Megan, ignoring all this.

Killer Croc's cell was almost a water dungeon. It was wet everywhere before he even got close. The cold water stepped on his feet and gradually flooded over his beastly toes and ankles, making a sound of water, and he suddenly realized the problem.

Megan was just a child, and the underground cell was already cold and humid. Such an environment was not suitable for normal children to live in, and staying there for too long might cause illness, so he stopped, turned around and walked out again.

When he passed by Mudface's cell again, a pool of mud had already squeezed out of the window. It had no shape at all, but it kept moving. Killer Croc raised his foot and kicked the pool of mud into the cell. The heavy limbs hit the iron door with a loud noise. He moved closer to the narrow window and roared gloomily and fiercely: "Go back!" After that, he ignored him.

The living conditions for the high-risk criminals imprisoned in Arkham Asylum are not that bad. They have gardens and lawns where they can go out for fresh air, and the library is also open. However, the criminals usually don't have the leisure to do so.

So Killer Croc took Megan to an empty lawn. In the distance, they were surrounded by high-voltage power grids and surveillance cameras, but the cameras were not aimed at the lawn. They mainly monitored whether the power grid was damaged and infrared imaging of creatures close to the power grid. As long as they were not at the edge, they would not be monitored.

He sat down on the lawn, his body leaning forward due to his tail, but even in this position he was still an extremely large piece.

He carefully put down the child sitting on his arms. The vertical pupils of the beast were obviously staring at her, but he found that Megan could not look at people. She was very small and stood in front of the terrifying monster, not even as tall as his jaw.

She didn't look up, but just grabbed Killer Croc's sharp claws with her small hands.

The author has something to say:

I never thought that there would be a day when the Joker's reputation would be damaged :D

And the scarecrow → both naive and playful.

I feel like everyone likes Arkham Daily, so this chapter will be released sooner rather than later.
