Chapter 18 Chapter 18

Chapter 18 Chapter 18

Poison Ivy was walking in her greenhouse with Megan in her arms. As for Killer Croc, he only followed her to the door and had to leave because he was not allowed to enter.

For her beloved plants, Poison Ivy can do all kinds of cruel things that are cruel to humans - the same goes for monsters, but when she walks in the greenhouse, her emotions completely calm down, and a soft color appears in her eyes that have turned green due to chlorophyll. She has a lot of love, and she lowers one hand to gently stroke the leaves of the green plants she passes by.

They were also greeting her, telling her about yesterday, today, and the predicted weather for tomorrow. Some were thirsty and needed water, some were hungry and needed nutritious soil, and some were complaining about their discomfort with the temperature and environment...

These plants are silent yet chirping. They are cute, obedient, and always accept things. Even the emotions they express are not as negative as those of humans. They are so weak and powerless that they will be easily destroyed if no one protects them. Poison Ivy, who has long accepted her identity as a plant, believes it is her responsibility to protect them.

She brought a watering can to water the plants, and when it was time to fertilize them, she put Megan down and asked her to follow her.

"Look at this orchid, it's a beautiful little guy." She lowered her eyes to look at the slender leaves of the orchid, her expression incredibly gentle, and she listened carefully to the whispers of the plant.

Megan watched it from the side, her eyes gradually focusing, but the objects she could observe and perceive were too few. Suddenly, when she saw the plants, she tilted her head as if she had done a question beyond the syllabus.

Poison Ivy looked away and saw her like this. She couldn't help laughing. She tapped her head with her finger in a pretentious manner and said with a smile: "You too, Megan, you are also beautiful and lovely."

"But perhaps you should be more pitiful..."

She could completely guess the future of the child that the Joker brought into Arkham. It was a tragedy full of sadness, injury, bloodshed and death. Otherwise, would that crazy clown really raise a child?

Poison Ivy dislikes all criminals in Arkham equally, but as long as they don't harm the plants or provoke her, she will ignore them. She has the ability to support her arrogance, such as immunity to toxins, including fear gas and the Joker's laughing gas, which is enough to establish her special status.

But to have her confront the Joker over a child? She would show her kindness to the Joker, so as to make him behave a little more, and that was enough. However, when they were together, Poison Ivy was not stingy with her love and care.

She was also a little lonely. Almost everyone outside Arkham knew her identity. Even though she sometimes used hormones to control herself and lived in anonymity, there would always be a day when her identity would be exposed. When everyone woke up, they were afraid of her, even children.

But now there is a silly child in front of her. She has no fear and obviously has some minor problems with her brain, but it is very easy to get along with her.

Poison Ivy took her hand and said, "It says it will bloom in two months, child. Give it some time. Let's look at something else."

The ceiling and walls of this greenhouse are made of transparent material, allowing ample light. There is also a temperature and humidity regulator inside. Poison Ivy walked to the controller, looked at the many numbers and buttons on the screen, made a simple analysis, and began to make fine adjustments. She was already proficient in operating these instruments and could communicate directly with the plants, so she had less trouble.

After she finished, she took Megan to visit the greenhouse. Poison Ivy didn't care whether she understood or not, and she told her what this and that plant were, what their scientific and common names were, what their characteristics and preferences were, how long they would take to grow, when they would bloom, and how to cultivate them if they were divided...

Poison Ivy was talking happily. She placed a small green plant in Megan's hand and asked her to hold it. "Do you want to try to grow it?"

Can a somewhat dull child take care of a potted plant? This is a matter of probability. When she thought about the fact that the person who took care of her was the Joker, Poison Ivy immediately knew the answer.

She took the plant back naturally and smiled, "Just leave it here. I'll help you take care of it."

Even though it was a spur of the moment decision, Poison Ivy said she wanted to give it to Megan, so she went to bring a small table and put the pot on it. She also took a sticker and a pen, wrote the name 'Megan' on it, and stuck it on the outside of the pot.

She knocked on the flowerpot. "Yours."

"Megan, it's yours from now on."

The child stood by the table, staring at it intently, and it was unclear whether he understood what she said. His little face had a serious expression and looked very serious, which was completely different from the clown's often crazy and twisted appearance.

At this time, Poison Ivy liked her a little. She stroked her black curly hair and said slowly: "Since you are a good person, I will help you if anything happens in the future." She didn't mean to go against the Joker, but to provide her with help in some aspects. She hoped that Megan could survive longer so that she could have the day to fulfill her promise.

When she was with her, the food was just some fruits, tea and cakes. Poison Ivy treated Megan to a meal. As for sending the child back to the Joker, she was not very happy about it. She lazily waited for Killer Croc to come and pick her up, and then threw her over, and she didn't care.

Megan walked very slowly, and sometimes Killer Croc would hold her in his arms. She was not afraid of the monster's terrifying appearance, and she liked to touch his tail and the scales on his hands the most, and Killer Croc tolerated it.

Killer Croc had to bend his back to get out of the large passage and into a normal-sized passage, and this posture, which was almost a prelude to hunting, made him look threatening. When he met Two-Face on the way, he politely made way for them and said "good evening" to Megan. As usual, he got no response, but he didn't care.

Only Killer Croc glanced at him, but there was nothing much to say between them.

After sending Megan to the door of the Joker's cell, Killer Croc watched her squeeze in through the crack of the door. The Joker had already heard the annoying cry of the crocodile monster, which was making people feel upset. He also knew that his Megan had already captured the other party. She had gained a playmate and bodyguard. The Joker didn't have to worry about what she did during the day. He was very satisfied.

Looking at the child who was sticking to his legs again, he asked, "What did you get today?" It was just a casual question, but he didn't expect Megan to take out a dry leaf from his pocket.

The Joker gave an exaggerated 'Ooooh', which he hadn't expected. "So you've made a new friend? Megan, you're way ahead of me in this matter."

"You will be the person with the most friends in Arkham Asylum! Hahahahahahaha!"

He couldn't stop laughing, and after laughing wildly, he patted Megan's cheek and said, "Okay, go and have fun by yourself. Don't make any noise like a little mouse." After complaining, he ignored Megan.

…

There's nothing much to say about those days, but after the Riddler and the Penguin were imprisoned, Arkham's high-risk zone became a lot more lively. Black Mask, who was usually under special supervision, also walked out of the cell because of a conflict with the Penguin.

Among the three super criminals, the Riddler was the most lively and soon became a 'good friend' with Megan, with whom he could talk about anything. The most important thing was that he spoke eloquently and performed with his hands and feet from time to time, regardless of whether the young children could understand him or not, and they would not respond to him at all.

Because he talked too much, many criminals thought he was crazy because he suffered too much of a blow outside, but the young man said to Megan: "Crazy? Who is crazy? I am crazy?"

"That's the funniest thing! I just love to brag about my riddles, my elaborate setup, my great wisdom—what do those idiots know?"

Was he angry? Of course he was, but beyond that awful mood, he was also filled with arrogance. He looked down upon everyone who wasn't as smart as him, and so he ignored the mocking remarks. However, he would still complain to Megan privately, "They're strong-limbed but simple-minded. Even Batman can only use violence to make them submit."

But the Riddler believes he is different, because the duel between him and Batman is often not about brute strength but wisdom. This is their interesting confrontation, a confrontation between geniuses.

Because he talks too much and is thick-skinned, he would pick up Megan and run away. Killer Croc and Poison Ivy were also annoyed by him, and knowing that he would not hurt Megan, they just let him go.

So does the Riddler really like this child? It's hard to say. The Riddler just thinks she's quiet enough and a good listener, so he takes her along to play and takes Megan all over the Arkham High-Danger Zone.

With the Riddler's high-pitched introduction, the Penguin also recognized Megan. He was not interested in children or the clown's fun, and only treated the ignorant children with a few casual words for the sake of appearance. He was not so easy to talk to the Riddler. He picked up his cane and pointed it at the Riddler's nose: "Get out!"

He had just committed an economic crime, an underground transaction, and was accidentally caught by Batman. He should have been sent to Blackgate Prison, but because of a mental evaluation, he was sent to Arkham Asylum. The environment here is much worse than the former one, and he cannot enter and exit freely.

Originally, the Penguin had planned to find a subordinate to take the blame, but now he was imprisoned in Arkham and had no idea what the situation was like outside. His property was definitely lost, which was already annoying enough for him. Now he had to listen to the Riddler's nonsense, and he didn't have that much patience.

The Riddler was somewhat aware of his unwelcomeness and shrugged helplessly. "I know you don't like talking to me anymore. Goodbye."

He then asked Megan to leave with him, but before she left, the Penguin stuffed a pudding in her hand.

The Riddler saw this and curled his lips at it, but to be honest he didn't have much control over Arkham. He only racked his brains to start planning every time he wanted to get out. Now he couldn't come up with anything. Anyway, he took the child to his cell, and after searching around, he only found a question mark-shaped cane for her to play with.

He said, "Take this and hit anyone you want to offend."

In fact, if that was really the scenario, it was more likely that Megan was hit back - her damage was -0, while others could easily hit her with a critical hit, and he who said this was deeply sinful.
