Chapter 207 [Extra] Diverse Travel · Fifteen [Extra]
Megan was going to take her treasures back with her, but she didn't pack up all the things about the past. She only packed out a small box containing old photo albums and a few stuffed dolls.
She glanced down at the cardboard box at her feet, then her eyes carefully scanned every corner of the house. She saw the old-fashioned paintings on the wall. When she got closer to the wallpaper, she found many childish brushstrokes on it. Perhaps a little artist had painted on it in the past, and then an adult took away even the tiny remaining traces and relocated them.
The wind blew the hair on her temples and forehead, and Megan gradually showed a happy smile. She looked up at the clown and said, "Dad, you will ask someone to take good care of these things, right?" She asked even though she knew the answer.
Arthur nodded slightly, his expression firm. "If I hadn't taken the trouble to do this, you wouldn't be able to see or get anything now."
Megan grabbed his hand and shook it, saying in agreement, "Yes, Dad, I love you the most." She expressed her love easily, and after she finished speaking, she turned around and jumped out the door. As for the cardboard box on the ground, she would never pick it up by herself. When she was still a child, the adults who took care of her would give her more tolerance and patience, and would not teach her to be "independent" by talking about such trivial matters.
Anyway, the father and daughter were both enjoying themselves. Arthur picked up the cardboard box and locked the door when he came out. He stopped as he passed Megan, who was squatting on the ground looking at the moss between the bricks, and said, "Come on, it's time to go home, kid."
Back in the two-story house they usually lived in, Megan excitedly ran around everywhere. No one knew what was wrong with her. When she was timid and scared, she would hide herself, but when she was too happy, she would rub herself in every corner. Fortunately, Bob cleaned the house, otherwise she would immediately become dirty. But even if it didn't reach that level, she would still make a mess -
Her braids were blown out and her clothes were wrinkled. She carefully placed the stuffed dolls deep in the toy rack.
Her favorite toy dolls have a unique place, and so do the treasures she has now. They are precious and anyone can easily see them. Megan was reluctant to take them out to play, so she hugged a white bear doll to vent her overly excited emotions.
When she came back, she took off her shoes and walked on the plush carpet in her socks, and started running around the house like Alice being chased by poker soldiers in the rabbit hole. She jumped, bounced and spun around lively, and even climbed onto the back of the sofa and stood there, holding the doll in her hand high.
Bob came in to make lunch at noon, and the poor babysitter had no idea what was going on. Suddenly, on a very ordinary day, the child he was caring for looked like he had ADHD, and his employer was sitting on the sofa watching, and when Megan slid down the back of the sofa, he helped her up, and then she ran away again.
Bob felt something was wrong. He knew his employer, the clown, was not a good person and was extremely afraid of him. However, his good professional ethics drove him to step forward and asked the clown under pressure: "Sir, Miss Megan, uh, what's wrong with her?"
As soon as he asked, Megan suddenly appeared out of nowhere, "Why didn't you ask me?" Her face was full of curiosity.
Bob was silent, but he had been assigned the job of taking care of Megan almost from the beginning. Watching her gradually transform from someone who didn't care about the outside world to her current lively appearance was a huge change, and it took a lot of time. When Bob thought about it carefully, he found that more than four years had passed.
Over four years, Megan is no longer confined in the empty and silent world. She has transformed from a skinny person to a healthy person. She speaks, communicates with people, responds, and walks from the corner into the sunshine. Happiness and love are embodied in her, becoming the solid foundation that guides her and supports her to move forward.
He thought all this was great. In the past, when Megan was still unable to perceive the outside world, he would take the initiative to communicate with her. Later, Megan learned to respond, and almost every topic between them was ended by Megan. When she asked something, Bob would rack his brains to find a way to answer it.
Bob said a little stiffly, "Because you're busy?"
Oh my god, what kind of answer is this?
However, Megan nodded and said, "Hello, Bob." Everything seemed good to her today, and she ran away again. She said "Hello" when she passed by the coffee table, and said "Hello" when she passed by the chair. She even stopped and moved her toes, lowered her head and said "Hello to you too" to the plush carpet.
…
Seeing that she was in good condition, the Joker left in the afternoon. As for why he felt relieved, there was another reason. He knew that in addition to confiding in him and relying on him, Megan also had many friends. Maybe she had something to say to them?
On the night the clown left, Robin visited Megan and jumped in from the window next to the living room. He jumped lively and walked around the house as if he knew the place well. He turned and walked to the toy shelf. He noticed the changes on it at a glance. There were several old-looking but clean cloth dolls placed in the position of "Meghan's most treasured items."
Domino's gaze rested gently on the stuffed dolls beneath his mask. He stared at them for a long moment before heading upstairs, his bright yellow cape swung behind him. He knocked on the gym door and heard the deliberately subdued but still distinct sound of approaching footsteps. A moment later, the door suddenly opened, revealing a furry head. "Wow!"
Robin jumped back like a startled bird, looking frightened, but this was just a little game between them, and no matter who wanted to play like this, the other would cooperate.
Bad Bear smiled triumphantly. After she opened the door, Robin followed her in and said, "You look so happy today, Xiaomei. Did something happen?" Based on his understanding of Megan, he could detect her emotions and analyze them from the arrangement of the toy rack and the footsteps just now.
He asked, and when he saw Megan turned her head and looked at him, she suddenly curved her eyes and said, "Well, there's something very happy. I found my mother's relics."
Megan didn't shed tears or cry. Robin couldn't help but take another look. She knew what he was thinking. She raised her chin and said very proudly: "What I found are all proofs of my mother's love for me, and also the past of my mother and me." Even though she could no longer remember too many things from the past, she still had many items related to the past.
She had a lot of love, Megan was absolutely sure of that.
They were originally walking into the gym, but Megan turned back and saw Robin walking behind her, so she took his hand and walked out.
Arriving in her bedroom, Megan dragged out the 'treasure chest' from the cupboard, opened the lid, carefully took out a photo album from inside, and handed it to Robin without hesitation, "This is a photo of me and my mother when I was a child, do you want to see it?" She asked with her mouth, but her actions and expression showed that she was showing off, because she thought this was an important and favorite thing, so she shared it with others.
Robin blinked, followed Megan's gaze to the old photo album, and also carefully touched the cover. Then he said to Megan, "Of course I have to see it, haha, little Mei when she was a child..."
"He must be the cutest kid in the world."
He and Megan sat cross-legged on the plush carpet. Before opening the photo album, he took off his mask, revealing a pair of gentle and bright blue eyes. As the album opened, he saw Megan and her mother at various times, and finally saw a family photo.
Jason closed the album and felt soft-hearted when he saw the silly child in the photo. She had grown from such a small and wrinkled baby to where she is today thanks to the efforts and love of her mother and father, but she must have also made her own efforts and had fearless courage.
He raised his eyes to look at Megan and said, "She is the cutest child in the world and the child who deserves to be loved the most." His tone was serious, and his eyes gradually revealed a high-spirited look as he said something that he could not be more sure of.
"She's the best little bear."
The best little bear in the world looked him in the eye, then rubbed its head against his. The two children laughed and played affectionately together, while Jason carefully placed the photo album aside and poked her cheek with his index finger. Megan pretended to make a fierce "wooo", forcing him to withdraw his hand. Sitting side by side with him, she asked, "Would the best Robin do something for me?"
Megan took out the small box that Alfred gave her from her pocket. Jason didn't take it in a hurry, so she took it in her hand and flipped through it again, but still couldn't find a gap and didn't know how to open it, so she handed it to Jason.
"My dad and I, um, went to another universe for two days. There was also Batman there, and a grown-up Jason. Before we left, Alfred gave me this and said if I didn't know how to open it, I could ask you for help."
Megan didn't think this was a secret that needed to be hidden, so she just blurted it out. Then she looked at Jason with a sharp gaze as he took the box, looked through it for a while, as if he had found a clue. Then he turned it like a Rubik's Cube. Megan saw that the box was not a complete piece, but had a gap that was invisible to the naked eye. But she was very careful when she held it, for fear of breaking it.
Jason's attention was divided. While disassembling the box, he asked the most important question, "Are you safe? And how are the Batman of that universe and my grown-up self?"
And suddenly arriving in another universe, with only one familiar person by her side, even if she met many "alien world equivalents", but the different world means different developments, maybe they are not so good? Maybe they are not good to Megan?
Jason was not at all worried. Even though the box in his hand had not been completely disassembled, he turned around and looked at Megan seriously and attentively, "Do you mind telling me about them? And you..." Suddenly arriving in a similar but different world, Xiaomei must have been scared. He leaned towards his good friend beside him and tried to comfort her.
Megan knew what he was going to say. She curled her eyes without any gloom or fear, and said in a very normal tone: "There was no danger. Bruce invited my father and me to visit Wayne Manor. Alfred was there too, and big Jason, he is a very good adult. He found a photo of my mother and me from that world, and then I saw it," she counted on her fingers.
"I met Batman's third, fourth, and fifth Robins, as well as other vigilantes, and finally, Waylon and Bane from that universe."
The experience she described was undoubtedly simplified and didn't sound risky. Jason tilted his head, as if he understood something from Megan's expression. He took off his tactical gloves, held her hand, and laughed lightly. "It's like Alice jumping into the rabbit hole. It was a very wonderful journey?"
Jason was not curious about who the three Robins after him were, what their origins were, or even what Big Jason's experience was. Compared to those things that were far away from him and Batman, he cared more about his good friend and huddled together with her.
Megan was quiet for a while. She said, "In that universe, I followed my mother. Jason Todd was killed by the Joker and then resurrected. He is still a good man, but he must feel bad."
"Arkham is still there, and Bane escaped from it and started chaos."
Apart from her own affairs, she saw the Gotham in the future. It was not a good future, and it seemed not worth looking forward to. Even after Jason grew up and Alfred grew old, Gotham remained unchanged. Everything kept repeating itself over and over again. The vigilantes tried to enforce justice, and the mentally ill criminals escaped from prison again and again.
"I'm a little sad."
She said she was a little sad, that is, she was very sad. Jason didn't know how to comfort her. He just held her hand tightly, but he was also careful not to cause her pain. However, he quickly sorted out his thoughts, looked at Megan and said, "No matter what, no matter which universe I am in, I will never regret my previous choice."
Perhaps Jason in that universe made the wrong choice, leading to his own death, and was later resurrected for other reasons. Would he regret it after being resurrected, perhaps feeling "bad"? That's hard to say.
His eyes were a deep blue, filled with an incomparable gentleness and determination, and something that Big Jason didn't have—
His preference for close friends.
Young Jason was in high spirits, a smile creeping up his face. He said, "But our universe is different from theirs. Here, there's Xiaomei, who lives a good life. And she has a wish that couldn't be better. When Xiaomei grows up..."
Megan understood what he wanted to say and was comforted. She continued, "I want to make my wish come true." The universe with Megan is definitely different from the universe without Megan. When she realized that there was something she could do, she was filled with life.
Seeing her regain her vitality, Jason opened the box and found a voice recorder inside. It looked like the latest model in that universe and was compact in appearance. He quickly found how to use it and opened it. The first thing that appeared was a recording. A gentle and low lullaby sounded amidst the hissing noise.
Megan listened to the lullaby over and over again, then handed the recorder and its box to Jason. When he wanted to refuse, she said, "This is what Alfu wanted to give you."
Jason: "Then I'll record the lullaby for you." That's how it was agreed.
Their two children were playing in the house. There weren't many crimes happening in Gotham tonight, and it wasn't until Robin left that Megan revealed another very important thing.
"Dad said that my illness will be completely cured in the near future." When she said this, there was a small smile on her face. Obviously, she was not afraid and did not think that her father was talking nonsense.
Robin was suddenly startled.
…
In another universe, Nightwing almost found the Joker—
After they had nearly turned Gotham upside down, it was the message left by the Joker in the guest room that finally prompted them. Nightwing then found a blurry video. He watched it dozens of times before calling Batman and saying, "You should come see this."
Technology allows them to watch the same video without having to gather together.
Batman, who was originally talking with Gordon in his office, heard this and did not deliberately avoid Gordon but borrowed his computer to open the video. The first thing he noticed was the environment of the picture. It seemed to be in a clinic?
At first, it was obvious that the camera was placed on a bracket, but the direction it was facing only saw some clinic infrastructure, such as white coats hanging on the wall, medical shelves and medicine cabinets with medicines, etc., and the overall environment was very dim, as if the lights were not on, with only some faint light coming in from outside. The time should be late at night, but there was an intermittent low laugh in the background.
Soon, as the camera was placed steadily, the lens suddenly turned, and a pair of hands wearing leather gloves held the lens. There were even a few drops of unknown liquid spilled on the lens, causing the camera to automatically refocus. Fortunately, it still locked the target, and the character who was about to appear on the camera was already very obvious, even Gordon could be sure of it.
Sure enough, the clown's pale and hideous face appeared on the screen. He had an extremely terrifying smile on his face, but he hypocritically said to the camera: "Forgive me, old friend, I didn't remember this until I was halfway through the work!"
But since the clown was in front of the camera, who was making that clown-like laugh? As for the possibility of a recording or someone else pretending, both people present could rule it out. At this point, Gordon already had a foreboding premonition.
The clown in the picture said to himself: "If you knew clearly that there was someone who arrived at the party late, then you would understand his dedication and selflessness! Hahahaha," he laughed uncontrollably, with the corners of his scarlet mouth almost reaching his ears. When he stepped back a few steps, Gordon saw that his suit seemed to be a little wet, but because the picture was too dim, he really couldn't be sure of this guess.
The Joker said, "I know you will see it. You are curious about the answer to the mystery, curious about me—and us—"
This was very interesting. The clown hummed his weird tune again, not caring at all whether it was a good tune or not. His expression gradually became more meaningful. He asked to the other side: "We agreed that one of us would appear on camera and the other would do 'good things', but how long will it take you to do it?" He sounded impatient!
Then, a third voice belonging to the clown sounded in the video. The tone was slightly lower than the clown in front of the camera, and there was a strange trailing tone, which was also very interesting. "He has strong vitality. Finding such a good toy, aren't you excited?"
"But you've studied him thoroughly!"
Another voice sighed pretentiously, "I wasn't scheduled to appear on screen, so I should at least get some compensation, right? Otherwise it would be too unfair." He made a compromise, so he should be compensated.
He seemed to have done something, so that the low and weak laughter that served as the background sound suddenly increased in volume, sounding extremely shrill, yet also seemed extremely sarcastic. Gordon outside the screen was already horrified, and his hands on the table were clenched into fists. He had heard that sound before. When Batman almost lost control and beat the Joker to death, the dying Joker laughed like that.
Gordon panicked for unknown reasons. He asked Batman bluntly, "Damn it! What are you hiding from me again?"
This incident was extremely strange. Gordon felt like he had seen a ghost!
Batman: "A visitor from another world..."
"What?"
Just as Gordon questioned, he heard the sound of fireworks in the video. He turned around and saw that the light and shadow in the clinic were also changing. Amid the incessant bangs, the background sound paused, and a weaker clown voice sounded, "Hahahahaha, no, you damn rats, you wanted to steal my things, damn it! But, I..."
When the room was illuminated again, they both heard a shrill scream and saw a large amount of dark liquid splashing out. There was no background sound anymore.
The clown moved closer to the camera, still with his typical hideous grin, but when he wiped his face, the spots of liquid all blurred. There was no doubt that it was blood. To create such an effect, it was necessary to decisively cut the aorta of a human or animal to make the blood splatter high and far enough.
So do clowns use props to create fake effects? The answer is no.
He said, "You should have done this a long time ago. I'm tired of hearing his laugh."
"The frog tied to the rack kept croaking. Did he think he could break free? Did he think he still had a chance? Did he think he would not leave easily? Did he think he was a regular actor in the drama..." He raised his hand and moved the camera, and he also took a few steps in the direction of the accident, so that all the traces of cruelty became clearer, and in the changing light and shadow in the room, a cloud of smoke suddenly rose from that direction.
The clown stopped and said, "Wow," look how surprised he was! However, he was still calm and composed in the strange fog, without any discomfort. At most, he pinched his nose in disgust and said, "Oh, this poor guy thought we were actors from somewhere?"
He stood there without moving, but another sound of footsteps was heard. It was another clown-like character who said with interest outside the screen: "Aren't you an actor? By the way, we still need to collect materials. Can you help me?" So the clown walked out of the screen and brought him a safe.
"I'll help, but please wait a moment while I make a phone call."
It is not difficult to see from the conversation that even though they work together, they are also at odds with each other.
The clown took out his cell phone and dialed a number. After a while, the call was connected. He laughed and said, "The dead ghost still wants to take revenge? Hahaha, but he will be disappointed!"
"It was a big surprise for us, a fantastic gift."
Not knowing what the person on the other end said, he laughed in an ambiguous manner. "Come on, man, you're setting off fireworks so late at night? I bet that kid is listening, right?"
…
Gordon couldn't stand it any longer. He punched Batman and shouted, "Tell me what this is!"
Batman dodged his punch and grabbed his arm. "Listen to me, they are from another universe...'multiple Jokers'."
When they found the clinic, they could clearly see a thin green mist still floating in the air through the observation window. Before Gordon and Batman arrived, a police officer tried to go in to check, and then he went 'crazy'.
The police officer showed obvious symptoms of "clowning". He started laughing wildly after walking a few steps into the house. He laughed so hard that tears streamed down his face but he couldn't stop laughing. Finally, he was pulled out of the house by his teammates with tools. The door of the clinic was then closed tightly, and the gap in the door was even sealed with tape, and the ventilation duct was blocked.
Gordon ordered the police officers to leave, and he gave one of the two gas masks in his hand to Batman. Even though he was prepared, he still felt indescribable trembling and terror when he entered the clinic.
He saw people strapped to hospital beds...
A disemboweled corpse.
The clown's expression was extremely hideous when he died, because his throat was cut, and his head was tilted back weakly, hanging slightly to the side from the bed, looking almost as if it was about to be broken, and he was staring in his direction with his eyes wide open. When Gordon approached, he found that his pale skin exuded a heavy aura of death, but there was obviously another reason for this phenomenon, because in addition to the blood spurting out of his cut neck, the rest of the blood in his body had been drained.
The floor of the clinic was covered with blood and footprints, and there were many medical instruments scattered around, such as knives, scissors, pliers, tweezers, hooks, hammers, crowbars, electric saws, syringes, etc. He picked up a few empty medicine bottles from the ground and looked at them carefully, and found that they were various psychotropic drugs. These things were all stained with blood, and there was no doubt that they were used on the Joker.
Gordon put on sterile gloves and gently opened the clothes on the Joker's body that were torn open due to his chest and abdomen being cut open. He saw traces of severe injuries on his body. It was obvious that he had experienced a fierce battle before being controlled, but he lost.
he asked. "They killed a clown,"
"You said there were more than two clowns. They killed the clown, tortured him, and drained his blood. Why?"
A group of clowns studying clowns from another world? It might sound logical, but why didn't they just stir up chaos in this universe's Gotham? Remember, the Joker's number one enemy is Batman, but instead of doing that, they killed the Joker first. But what's the situation now!
The Joker is dead! And those clowns are nowhere to be found! Gordon slapped his face fiercely, "I admit that he is dead, and everyone is happy, but how should we say it to the public? Or should we let 'The Joker's Death' become an unsolved case?"
"Great! It's great that the clowns from another world become 'men of justice' and become the sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of all criminals."
The author has something to say:
After writing this chapter, my mind is empty (dumb). Let's leave it in suspense. There is no follow-up to the extra story of Ugly Dad taking Megan on a trip. Everything that follows is unknown.
But before returning to the main story, I want to update a chapter of the "Gotham Succubus, Attacks with Dignity!" → Yes, although it has not been written yet, it should only be one chapter.
I always feel like I should be wearing a pot lid (?) (shaking my head)
