Chapter 29 Chapter 29 (Overhaul)

Chapter 29 Chapter 29 (Overhaul)

Megan was left in this two-story building, and Bob took good care of her. Except for the fact that she had just returned and the bedroom was rather simple because it was not prepared, Megan was sleepy and after washing up, she fell into the bed and fell asleep without paying attention to anything.

Early the next morning, while Megan was still asleep, he took the funds allocated by Nelson and purchased a large number of things.

Breakfast was macaroni, fried eggs and sausage. Bob also baked some oatmeal raisin cookies. As for the drink, it was chocolate milk. While she was eating slowly, Bob was tidying up things in the living room next door.

The young child seemed to have a little obsessive-compulsive disorder. She would always eat the food in front of her from the nearest to the farthest. However, children have limited appetite, so sometimes she would be full while the remaining food would remain untouched.

To be honest, this is a bad habit. Bob was busy with his work in the living room next door, and he would look at her from time to time. Although he was not very good at guessing the wishes that Megan sometimes expressed, he had his own understanding -

He chose to respect Megan's little problem, but came over and manually adjusted the order of her meals, and the problem was solved immediately.

Eventually she ate a little of everything, jumped off the chair so that her toes didn't touch the ground, and held a cookie in her hand. Megan was not interested in what Bob was doing. She walked to the window next to the living room. The window was a long, sliding window with an upper and lower structure, and the bottom glass could be lifted up.

Megan stayed in front of the window, straining to look up at the sky outside. The wind blew in from the lower half of the window. Now she could "find" the wind, which was a great improvement.

She would look at the door from time to time, bite the cookie for a while and then eat it, clapping her hands to shake off the cookie crumbs. She looked left and right, and finally climbed up the stairs.

There was a guardrail on the second-floor corridor. Megan knew last night that she could see downstairs through the railings. After she climbed up, she sat on the ground, stretched her hands and feet through the railings, and rested her head on it, looking downstairs and at Bob.

She was curious about her environment. The perspectives from downstairs and upstairs were completely different. For example, the tables and chairs all looked different. She couldn't see the tops of some of the tall cabinets before, but now she could.

And Bob, he went from being a very tall guy to now looking not very big, with his hands and feet busy all the time.

Megan sat in this high position, and Bob hadn't noticed her yet. He was unaware that she was staring at him, and she tilted her head to look from one end to the other, still doing nothing. There were no classes or homework here. Even if she stared at the door, and later went downstairs and stood at the door, Bob would not come to open the door for her.

No one came.

Bob was stuffing cotton wicks into the doll's leather case. He had previously been assembling a small counter, which would be moved to Megan's bedroom. He assembled the first doll, a round, cute puppy, and patted it to make the cotton wicks roughly even, then gave it to Megan.

"This is a doll." He imitated Nelson's attitude towards Megan and squatted down to talk to her at eye level.

It was his own decision to buy dolls and toys for Megan, because neither Nelson nor his big boss Clown, whose contact information he still has, gave any specific arrangements. He could only understand and plan it on his own. After all, buying these things for children would never go wrong.

He had bought a small doll for Megan in the past and placed it beside her bed. He also placed it beside her when Megan was tied to the treadmill and had to walk. As for why it was a small doll...

The key point is "small". Bob is not sure about the clown's attitude towards the child, but he is absolutely dedicated to his mission. At worst, he will hide the doll when Mr. Clown comes. A small doll will be inconspicuous if hidden casually and will not be discovered.

Now that he sees Megan is well taken care of, he can buy dolls and toys openly without having to hide like before, and he is enthusiastic and positive about this job.

Megan looked into his eyes, then looked down at the doll without moving. Bob kept handing the doll over. Megan's reaction was very slow, and it took several minutes before she took it. But she didn't care much about it. After Bob walked away, she let go of the doll and watched it fall to the ground, but there was no sound, and it didn't bounce, it just rolled around.

...not a ball.

So strange.

It was so strange that Megan looked at it for a long time. Her little head had no idea what was going on, so she had to put it aside, pick it up and put it on the sofa. She didn't know what to do next.

She had no instructions, only to wait.

Just then Bob came over again, still squatting, and handed her a small doll, a small yellow cube with big round eyes and a big curved mouth, and four long strips extending from the cube.

Megan didn't recognize it, but Bob said, "This is yours, too, Megan, your doll."

Strangely, she remembered the red-haired woman standing among the plants, who lowered her head, tapped the flowerpot and said, "Yours." There was a wild, confident and gentle smile on her face.

However, the flower was placed in Poison Ivy's greenhouse. Megan would sometimes go to water it, imitating Poison Ivy by poking wood chips into the soil and removing some old leaves. Poison Ivy said, "Plants breathe and they can express themselves. For example, if they are lacking water, malnourished, or infested by insects, they will show it directly. They are the most honest children."

But Megan put her hands next to the green plants many times and didn't feel their 'breathing', but Poison Ivy said: "Their breathing is very subtle and cannot be detected by humans, Megan."

They are breathing, but people cannot feel it intuitively, but we cannot say that their breathing is not happening.

All of this was beyond Megan's understanding, and no one was trying to force her to understand everything at once. They all tacitly agreed not to put any pressure on Megan, and it didn't matter whether she understood it or not.

Megan just thought of the word "yours", which overlapped with what Bob said now. She took the small yellow square from him, shook it in her hand, and could feel the four long stripes on it waving.

Bob said, "It's Sponge Bob in square pants." They have the same name!

Now the question arises! Has this well-cared-for child ever watched cartoons? This is a good question, but when Bob sees her tilting her head in confusion, he knows there must be something wrong.

Raising a child, feeding her healthy, but not letting her watch cartoons... Is this kind of care good or bad?

So Bob said he had something else to do and went to the second floor where the children couldn't hear him. He originally wanted to call Nelson to ask if he could let her watch TV and cartoons, but he didn't dare. He could only tap on the keys and send text messages to ask.

Bob hoped that Nelson would pay attention to the child's education and give a reply, but he thought it would be better not to reply too quickly in case it delayed the gang's affairs, and the other party might think he was making a fuss and looking for trouble. Just when he was feeling confused and anxious, his phone vibrated. He opened the text message and saw the word "OK".

He thought it was okay, so he went to the first-floor living room and turned on the TV. He switched to the children's channel, where the cartoon was playing. He pointed at the yellow square bouncing around on the screen and said, "That's Sponge Bob in square pants."

The one in her hand was Sponge Bob wearing square pants, and the one on TV was the same, which made Megan unable to help but look at them back and forth.

As for television, she had seen it in Arkham Asylum, but she didn't like watching moving and noisy lights and shadows. When the criminals gathered together and talked about social gossip and sports channels on TV, she also didn't like the crowds and noise, so she avoided them.

Now she looked at the doll in her hand, which was obviously similar to the one on TV, and her eyes widened.

Bob thought the child would be interested in the cartoon, but when the sound of the TV came on, Yellow Bob kept talking, and there was a pink five-pointed star. Megan couldn't understand the plot, and her attention and recognition skills prevented her from reacting in time to what they said and did. She only saw them jumping and making noise.

Megan didn't understand, shook her head, and hid upstairs without interest, but she kept holding the yellow Bob doll in her hand. She was a little familiar with this color, but she just couldn't remember it.

Megan doesn't watch cartoons or early education channels. On the third day after returning here, Nelson came and brought her textbooks and exercise books. Megan seemed to have received instructions and started studying courses and doing homework every day.

It was then that she began to watch some children's teaching courses on TV seriously, but there were few such programs. In order to accommodate children and attract their attention, the hosts often performed exaggeratedly and talked nonsense, which made Megan's vision unfocused and she fell into a trance.

After Bob taught her how to change channels with the remote control, her second favorite program was Animal World.

It was very similar to when Poison Ivy introduced plants to her. Because the video was edited, she could see scenery she had never seen before, the sea, the Gobi Desert, the jungle... She suddenly "recognized" a lot of things.

Finally, on the fourth day, Bob's phone rang. When he answered it, Megan quietly came to his side, raised her head and looked at the phone.

After hearing Bob say "Uh-oh! OK" for a while, he handed the phone to her.

Megan had seen him make and receive calls in the Joker's cell, so now Bob was half-crouching with the phone, and she leaned over and shook her hair. She heard some very small sounds, and then -

"Hi - my Megan, how are you these days?"

"Are you sad and upset because you find yourself confined to a small house and can't see your father?"

His tone was drawn out, revealing a creepy meaning. In the background, someone was shouting in fear, "Snake! There's a snake!" The Joker couldn't help laughing. He had found new fun after getting out of Arkham Asylum. And that was a big shot who usually only appeared on TV. He was the latest celebrity!

Of course Megan wouldn't respond, and suddenly another familiar voice came from the other end of the phone. It was Scarecrow. He originally had some conflicts with the Joker, but now they have reconciled and have the same fun.

The Scarecrow was fully armed, and his fear poison controlled the important man, easily making him fall into the illusion of his worst fear, thereby forcing him to do exactly what they asked. Now he put the man aside, took the phone from the clown, and said in a slightly strange tone: "Who is our Mr. Clown talking to? Let me see."

"Oh, it's a pity we can't see each other now because of the phone, but I know you, kid. By the way, what did you want to say to her? Let me tell you now."

He was too clear about the effects of the fear gas he developed exclusively, which made it less fun. After working with the Joker, the previous minor conflicts disappeared and it was nothing at all, so now he took his call as if the three of them knew each other very well.
