Chapter 31 Chapter 31 [VIP]

Chapter 31 Chapter 31 [VIP]

Bane is merciful, and his blessing to Megan is just as he had foreseen in his coma that year - when he declared in the future that his younger self would become the king of kings.

The weak and defenseless child who once held a doll grew up in prison in a wild and rational way, becoming the most perfect person he had imagined. All the prisoners in the prison were ruled by him. After undergoing a biochemical experiment and successfully surviving, he had obtained everything he needed before embarking on the conquest.

Now he has come to Gotham, his goal is to become the bat that haunted him as a child...

Gotham is a city of boundless charm. Too many people have poured mad love into it, making it prosperous and magnificent, making it grow stronger and stronger, and making it open up its blood vessels and bones to accommodate all the darkness and filth.

And there happens to be a 'bat' here.

Bane had come for him, planning from the beginning to defeat his own shadow, to break the wings of that terrible bat, and from then on, he would be unstoppable and would rule over everything.

But in the gap between the implementation of his plan, he came here because of a premonition and met a child who was similar to him but completely different. If he was destined to conquer, then the fact that this child could survive in her dry and dead life could be regarded as a favor from fate.

She was not in his plan. After meeting her, Bane planned to leave. Before leaving, he saw the yellow doll in her hand.

He had said before that they were friends, and he would not allow himself to go back on his word. After thinking for a moment, he said, "You will get a gift when we meet next time." He was not stingy with this gift and kindness.

Bane only planned to release the mentally ill criminals imprisoned in Arkham Asylum. The missiles that blew up the Joker's cell and the firearms and weapons given to the criminals were all hijacked by him. After that, his actions became more covert. He changed from taking the initiative to observing, looking for Batman's flaws in his actions of catching criminals. He was also waiting for the last and best opportunity.

The opportunity for him to break the bat in one fell swoop.

Even though he has seen the Joker's daughter now, his target is clear. He is only targeting Batman and will not attack children.

Megan watched her new friend stand up. He was almost as tall as Killer Croc. After he finished speaking, he turned and left. She walked to the window, stood on tiptoe, and tried to put her chin on the window sill. She saw that although Bane was big, he moved quickly and agilely, and even running and jumping did not make much noise.

He came and went, and seemed like a strange man, but Megan did not wonder about it and accepted it very normally. Only at night when the clown came to her, she raised the yellow bob in her hand to prove that it was her gain, but she did not know how to express her new friend.

The new friend, Bane, is very large and his face is not clearly visible.

Megan only stared up at the clown. She still has a big problem with expression! If she refuses to speak, then why not write it down with a pen?

Of course it's not good. For Megan, a "problem child", expressing herself is a difficult and painful thing. The Joker tried to ask her to pick up a pen, but this clockwork puppet closed herself off. It doesn't mean that she doesn't have any emotions... but that they are all blocked and rejected by her.

She opened her ignorant eyes, and clear water flowed from them, but she herself was unaware of anything. She was only curious about the tears and didn't understand where the water came from.

At that time, the clown narrowed his strange green eyes and looked at her, but did not force her. Instead, he let the matter go casually. He was not so anxious as to force the child just to let her learn to express herself.

Anyway, with her current brain, her expression is limited.

Now the Joker recalled Nelson's report and roughly knew what she was trying to say. He sat on the sofa with Megan sitting next to him, her drooping legs swaying in a small arc. He suddenly became interested and deliberately turned his head to watch TV, but his attention was almost all on her, waiting to see if she would provide new entertainment.

Megan was still looking up at him. Since they were all sitting, even if she had to look up, it wasn't as difficult as when they were standing. Megan looked at him for a while, but the clown still ignored her, so she followed his gaze and looked at the TV, but the program being broadcast was an interview, which she didn't understand and didn't like.

She looked around, not knowing what to do. Finally, Megan saw that the clown ignored her again, and seemed to feel safe instead. She raised the arm that was close to him, hesitated for a long time, and finally put it on the clown's arm and buried her head in it.

She had forgotten what she wanted to say to the clown. Now she rubbed her head against the clown's arm, and became completely quiet, not moving anymore.

The clown lowered his head slightly to glance at her, and the little child showed his attachment. Compared to the beginning, her black curly hair had grown longer, and the dryness and malnutrition had faded away, becoming soft and shiny, and her whole body had become healthier.

All the changes in her were 'good', causing the clown observing her to curl up his lips into a terrifying smile, but his movements were extremely gentle. He patted Megan's back and said, "Good girl..."

Megan was a little sleepy, and when she sensed the Joker's presence, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

The next day she woke up in her bedroom, cleaned up and went downstairs, only to find the clown still there. She tilted her head and he knew what she was thinking. He said nonchalantly, "It's okay, Megan. My show isn't about to go on yet. Everyone's on stage now."

He was talking about something Megan didn't understand, but after thinking about it for a while, he added with a smile: "For example, your friends and other characters, they are all vying to be the one who attracts everyone's attention on the stage."

Unfortunately, there were too many of them, each performing their own specialty, which made it difficult to keep up, resulting in a poor performance that was annoying to watch.

A good screenwriter would never design it this way.

So he rested for a while, imprisoned the mayor in a secret place, and the scarecrow also went to do his thing. He was also a vulgar person who wanted to win some attention for himself in the chaos. To be honest,

Did anyone rate their performance and pick the best one?

What's more, there is a man behind the scenes. He is a newcomer to Gotham, but he has shown great strength and wisdom. The current situation was created by him. This is his debut show.

It is never a good idea to steal someone else's limelight. The Joker already has an ace in his hand, so he can wait patiently.

The Joker settled down in this two-story building. His daily life was a little different from that in Arkham. Bob was huddled in the corner trembling with fear, and... Megan's teachers had all run away, and now he was responsible for her studies.

In fact, he didn't need to worry about it. Megan could understand the textbooks and the teaching courses on TV. She would learn by herself and then do her homework.

In addition to mathematics, she also needs to memorize words in English, but compared with her rapid progress in mathematics, she even has difficulty forming sentences in English. This makes the Joker once again confirm that she is missing a large part of her cognition, because her thoughts are not coherent and her logical ability is also problematic, but this is not a big problem.

However, during the news report that since the bombing of Arkham Asylum, the escaped mentally ill criminals have been wandering around everywhere, causing bloodshed and death. The GCPD is trying its best to hunt them down and asking citizens to actively provide clues and not to panic too much, the Joker did something unknown, and Ms. Carter from the Special Children's Care Fund decided to visit Damon's house.

For this reason, the Joker sent Bob out and redecorated the small building, and he was dressed as Arthur Damon again, but he was no longer wearing the dirty blue work clothes. Having experienced the hardships of life, he didn't care much about clothes and chose the cheapest clothes.

Ms. Carter arrived at the building in downtown at ten o'clock in the morning, as she had said on the phone. After knocking on the door, she saw Arthur opening the door. He was in much better condition than the previous times she had seen him.

He was tall and thin. Now that his back was not so bent, he looked taller, and there was a hint of smile on his weather-worn face, which was very rare.

As soon as she entered the room, this man who had finally been blessed by fate began to chatter to her, "Ms. Carter, I am so grateful to you! If it weren't for you, the foundation, and Mr. Wayne's funding..."

"Oh, no, I shouldn't say if. What I want to say is, Ms. Carter, look."

He brought Carter to Megan, who was sitting on the carpet in the living room with two dolls in her hands, and books, pens and storybooks beside her. She looked up when she heard the noise, looked at the clown, then looked at Carter, and then continued to lower her head.

Carter came closer and saw that those things were not arranged on a whim, and the plush appearance of the dolls was not brand new.

She squatted down and picked up the book. It was so wide open that it could not be closed. Some of the pages had their corners folded in. There were also some homework papers in the book with simple math problems written on them. The handwriting of the answers was childish and definitely not imitated by an adult.

There is also a storybook next to it, which looks like it is printed with low-quality ink and is not a hardcover, but there are no obvious errors in the printing.

Carter knew about this place from the house that Damon's family rented outside. After all, the foundation needs to check the expenditures of the funded accounts, especially when they are funding vulnerable groups such as special children who have no autonomy. Therefore, they need to supervise large expenditures from the guardian's accounts to prevent them from making profits from children.

Although they can only know a rough idea and the sponsored children need to actively provide information, this supervision is necessary. However, among all the guardians of the sponsored children, only Arthur Damon provides complete information every time.

To be honest, this also makes it convenient for Ms. Carter, because the money that Mr. Wayne personally donated is also given to her to supervise - whether the guardian spends the money on the special children themselves, rather than using it for gambling or other purposes.

She had met Arthur twice during Carter's previous visits and had only spoken on the phone once.

As for Megan's whereabouts, Arthur only said that he had contacted an expert from the American Psychological Association. Because Megan's symptoms were serious, she needed to be sent for sensory integration training. She needed to be accompanied by the guardian who was most familiar to the child, and the time and way of getting along were stipulated. However, taking photos was allowed.

During the breaks in training, when Arthur was not needed, he would come back here to work and happened to meet Ms. Carter.

Carter expressed doubt about his statement, but Arthur produced the expert's comprehensive examination results on Megan, which included complex tests on brain structure, nervous system, mental state, hematology, etc., as well as analysis and treatment plans for the various disorders she exhibited...

Carter was not a professional and didn't understand these things very well. She later asked someone to take a look and found that the expert information and test results were not falsified. She also called the expert and found no problems. Megan's condition could be seen to be improving in the photos, so she could only feel relieved.

Now, more than half a year has passed, and Ms. Carter finally met Meghan.

She put down what she was holding and stared at the child in front of her. Her eyes were no longer empty and dull. When she heard any noise, she would turn her head to take a look.

Her cheeks were white and a little fleshier, and her hair and body shape had also changed. Her curly hair was black and well-groomed, with two small clips on her head. Her body was no longer as thin as it was at the beginning, and she looked much healthier.

Only then did Ms. Carter smile without hesitation. When she turned to look at Arthur, he was also squatting beside her, and his eyes were full of tenderness as he looked at Megan, and there were too many expectations for future life and beautiful things.

The Special Children's Care Fund really changed him, making him grateful for everything he encountered all the time and allowing him to regain hope.

He said softly: "This is all I can think of..."

"The best life ever."

This was also a life he could never have imagined before. After losing Megan, a devastating blow, he met a good person and was treated kindly by fate. Now he has walked out of the mud, and in his green eyes, the same color as Megan's, he began to yearn for a better life.

Arthur reached out and stroked Megan's face, easily attracting her attention. Megan always responded to him, looking at him more intently than looking at anything else. Their foreheads touched lightly, easily expressing intimacy in front of others.

Even though Megan had some minor issues, from the fact that she didn't resist and didn't seem unfamiliar with it, it was clear that they got along like this very often.

Even when she was sent for rehabilitation training, she had Arthur by her side and did not feel abandoned.

Carter had encountered quite a few outrageous situations while working at the foundation. There were always scammers who thought they were smart, and there were also some greedy termites who had long coveted these "ownerless" funds! So they had their own sources of information.

As far as she knew, Arthur Damon was always busy taking care of Megan's illness. Even when he had time off from her training, he didn't just wait after returning, but continued to work to save some money for her subsequent treatment and life.

They have experienced poverty and the pain of embarrassment and helplessness. Even with the financial support from the foundation and Mr. Wayne himself, he still perseveres in making plans for the long term...

It was obvious that Arthur was very tired, but his previous efforts had not yielded any reward. The compensation he received was only enough for their most basic living, and he couldn't even send Megan to the hospital for examination and treatment. But now, no matter how hard it was, he could see a ray of light before him.

——As long as he keeps striding forward, he will definitely reap good rewards, and this time he will not be treated harshly by fate.

Arthur had already confirmed this. With a deep smile on his face, like a child showing off his treasure, he said to Ms. Carter with pride, "You should see the results of her training. I think you should."

Carter came to see this, and then he turned to Megan and said in a cheerful tone: "Will you stand up?"

Megan was a good and obedient child. She stood up slowly and stared at him, waiting for the next instruction. Arthur picked up the puppy doll that she had placed beside her when she stood up and said softly, "Catch it, okay? Megan."

But she suddenly became a little strange. She didn't move for a moment, but leaned forward tentatively. Arthur still looked at her gently and tolerantly, and the pity and love in his green eyes almost overflowed. So she leaned her head and gently touched his forehead, and then took the puppy doll and held it in her arms.

She responded, and more.

Ms. Carter also smiled because of their interaction. It seemed that she would be able to write a very beautiful follow-up report this time. Moreover, Damon and his daughter were the family with the best atmosphere among the sponsored families she had ever seen.

However, even after confirming this, she did not leave immediately, but continued to stay here to observe their daily life. Megan was already able to study. She was good at math and could also learn common vocabulary. She became familiar with it by copying. There was no doubt that her handwriting matched that on the homework paper.

She saw that Megan was curious about many things. After finishing her homework, she would wander around and liked to put her head on the windowsill to look at the sky outside.

There are cracks in everything, that's how the light gets in*.

The improvement and cure of autistic children is exactly what they are moved by and what they strive for. The Special Children's Care Fund has been upholding love and hope since its inception, and now those beautiful wishes seem to have come true a little.

The Joker himself arranged his appearance to be more than a month later. At that time, Mad Hatter, Two-Face, Victor Zsasz, Firefly, Killer Croc, Riddler and many other mentally ill criminals were defeated one after another by Batman, and were imprisoned back to Arkham Asylum by the GCPD.

As for Poison Ivy, her greenhouse was deliberately avoided in the missile attack and suffered no damage. She cared more about the plants bearing fruit than creating useless panic outside, so she did not follow the crowd to escape from prison.

Before the Joker implemented his plan, he sent Megan back to Arkham. His cell was urgently repaired and the darkroom was not damaged. It was no problem for her to go back and live there. As for who would take care of her...

Everyone in Akam is her friend!

He took Megan back to Arkham secretly, and the first person he met was the Riddler. This self-proclaimed wise man suffered a tragic Waterloo this time. His plan against Batman was taken away by his collaborators, and he himself was sent back directly by Robin.

The Joker had known the news for a long time, and even everyone in Arkham knew it. You know, the audience is always very enthusiastic about discussing this kind of comedy, which led to the Riddler's extremely bad expression. Even when he saw Megan, he couldn't raise the corners of his mouth.

The Riddler couldn't laugh. He urgently needed someone or something to pull him out of his current embarrassing situation. When he happened to meet them, he remembered a promise he had made.

Shrugging his shoulders, he said to the clown, "Just before that day... I said I would teach Megan some logical thinking the next day."

As a result, Arkham was attacked that night, and most of them took the opportunity to escape from prison. Everyone yearns for freedom, but unfortunately this city has its guardian, a guy who is ruthless to criminals and hits people very painfully. Even if I don't know why, he looks in poor condition recently, but he still has the same bad temper as before, and he is determined to send them back.

The Riddler wasn't hit by Batman, but it was better for him to be hit by him. He touched his chin and asked the Joker: "Are you going to start your plan?"

The clown raised his eyebrows and nodded with a smile, "Of course, she is not in my repertoire, and I have to send her back." He seemed to be troubled by this.

The Riddler watched him perform coldly. He really needed Megan to help him get out of his current situation. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Leave it to me, my friend. And I think you should be careful about that guy named Bane..."

In these two months, Bane has made a direct appearance. He is a freak whose strength and physique are comparable to some inhuman monsters in Arkham. From all indications, he is not lacking in wisdom, and his goal is also very clear, which is to defeat Batman and then rule Gotham.

Honestly, his desire to rule Gotham solely through force is overly arrogant. After all, while he has helpers, their group is still too small, just a few people, and they don't necessarily have any great abilities. Even if he succeeds, he won't be able to consolidate his rule for long. It's like a child playing house...

However, when the other party has absolute military power, a tough attitude, and super strong action ability, the situation becomes unpredictable.

In short—

They are the "chess pieces" that are used to take advantage of Batman's opponent's force, to make Batman tired and vulnerable. They must be careful not to confront Bane and not be dealt with by him before the final battle between Bane and Batman.

If you want to sabotage a newcomer's debut show, you will risk being torn to pieces by them. After all, newcomers are full of vigor and will not tolerate disobedience from others. For people like them, there will be plenty of time in the future.

The Riddler advised the Joker this, but did he really mean it?

With a smile on his face, he looked at the clown fearlessly. He saw that the depths of those strange green eyes were turbid and filled with crazy malice, as if he could see through him completely from the inside out. Suddenly, at some moment, the clown smiled even more deeply.

The clown looked away and said in a strange tone, "You're right." But that was not an endorsement.

Putting his hand on Megan's head, he said nonchalantly, "Go and study with your Uncle Edward. I hope you'll have made great progress when I come back."

The Riddler got what he wanted unexpectedly. Watching the Clown leave decisively, he thought for a while and the first thing he asked Megan was: "Where did the Clown take you to? You..."

The Penguin, the gang boss, has good aesthetic sense. There is nothing wrong with the clothes he customized for Megan. However, after being taken away by the Joker for two months, Megan's clothes became simple again. It's not that they are inappropriate, as the Joker is not short of money to raise a child. Or is he so stingy? It's not that serious, right?

He didn't even ask where the Joker came back from after Arkham Asylum's security system was repaired!

He lowered his head and looked at Megan, unable to read anything from her expressionless face. He casually passed over the matter and took Megan back to the Joker's cell. Seeing that the cell had been repaired and cleaned, he said to Megan, "Do you want to rest for now, or do you want to go see Killer Croc and Poison Ivy?"

Megan ignored him and looked around but didn't find anything new. She pushed the door open and walked into the cell. The Riddler turned on the light for her, closed the door, and left.

But the Riddler remembered something, turned back, and said through the window on the cell door, "The Joker is not here. If you want to go out except at meal times, just wait for someone to pick you up. I'll go talk to them." Otherwise, why would he let her, a child, wander around in the still chaotic Arkham?

Besides, the Joker is not here yet, and many criminals are angry outside. What if some tasteless loser wants to vent his anger on a child?

The Riddler doesn't think he is a good person, but he also feels that he is not completely bad. Megan was given to him by the Joker, and he had promised to teach her before, so he would definitely not go back on his word.

Megan returned to Arkham in the afternoon. Before dinner, she met Killer Croc. This monster had a fight with Bane after escaping from prison, and he lost. Because of his ability to heal quickly, there is no visible scar on his body now.

Killer Croc was taken back to Arkham by the GCPD. At that time, he had recovered some of his strength, but pretended to be powerless. After returning to Arkham, he stayed indoors every day. I don’t know if he was hit too hard. Until then, the Riddler came to him and said that the Joker had sent Megan back.

He wasn't interested in the Joker's access to and from Arkham Asylum, so when it was almost dinner time, he came to find Megan.

He bent his sharp claws and knocked on the door. He keenly heard the movement inside the door. A pair of light footsteps approached and stopped at the door. Killer Croc lowered his head and looked at the child who looked up at him through the crack of the door. He pushed the door open and saw that she was holding a ball in her hand.

Killer Croc looked at the graffiti-covered ball and simply said, "Your toy." It was a meaningless greeting and was merely a statement.

Megan remained silent. She probably knew it was time for dinner, so she let go of the ball and watched it fall to the ground, bounce up, and finally roll to the side like she had done before. She observed it for a while and gradually felt that the doll was not a ball.

She came out and followed Killer Croc, acting as his little tail. However, when Killer Croc stretched out his sharp claws towards her, she still chased him and walked beside him, grabbing the sharp black claws.

When I went to the cafeteria today, the atmosphere was quiet and weird. The reason was that Poison Ivy rarely came here. After all... in the experiment that she was fooled into going through out of ignorance, her cells had mutated. What flowed in her body was no longer blood, but chlorophyll. She no longer needed food, but only oxygen and sunlight to survive.

Poison Ivy's stance also changed as her body changed. She considered herself a plant and no longer considered humans as her peers. At the beginning of her transformation, many people offended her intentionally or unintentionally, and most of those people ended up becoming fertilizer for flowers. Even many of the criminals present were taught a lesson by her.

As she grew further, no one dared to provoke her easily, because the outcome might not be better than death. They might also be infected by the various toxins, bacteria, and fungi she cultivated, leaving them lying in bed, feeling themselves gradually weakening, with no medicine to cure them. Even if the offense against her was not serious, and they were only infected with a minor illness, it would not be easy.

Now this 'Poison Ivy' has arrived.

Many people were speculating about why she came. If she wanted to consolidate her power, this would be a good opportunity. But if she really wanted to do that, she should have escaped from Arkham. She could do more things outside and gain greater benefits.

Now the criminals in Arkham have all suffered a blow, and outside Arkham, some gang bosses and cult leaders have not been caught yet, not to mention the newcomer Bane.

Poison Ivy heard heavy footsteps approaching, or rather... relying on the plant's ability to sense vibrations, she sensed someone coming earlier than the sound, and that there was more than one person.

The child's steps were small, and it took several steps for it to match one step of the giant next to her. They walked slowly together, and Poison Ivy showed a charming smile as soon as she saw the child.

Her vines extended from her side, and were rolling up the plates to serve food. As if they had the ability to see, they followed her line of sight and "looked" at Megan before turning back to continue serving food. The scene looked somewhat harmonious, but only a few people felt that way.

For example, the Riddler felt that this was a heartwarming scene that moved Arkham, but he didn't dare to speak. He knew that Poison Ivy's ability was the nemesis of brain criminals like him. So he sat quietly aside and watched Poison Ivy greet the child, "Good boy, come here and let me see how you are doing."

Have you been abused by that madman Joker? Have you been wronged outside?

The smile in Poison Ivy's eyes was only partially genuine. You have to know that she came to the cafeteria today to demonstrate her attitude towards Megan. No one can touch the child she likes. Even if the Joker, who was originally Megan's "protector", is not here, her demonstration can have the same effect.

Killer Croc dropped Megan off and went to get his raw meat, he wouldn't eat his bloody food in front of a child.

So there were only the two of them at the table. After Megan sat down, a thin vine swam towards her. Megan stretched out her hand, and it approached her wrist like an animal and 'sniffed' it, recording the biological information and recognizing it as a 'large, harmless creature that it could coexist harmoniously with'.

Poison Ivy watched them get along leisurely. Her vines liked her, just like many animals and plants in nature. However, there were too many stupid and vicious people in human society, who always caused irreversible damage to plants. Children like Megan were well-behaved and had no destructive nature. She did not harm plants.

The two friends reunited, and her other vines handed over a plate of food, which Poison Ivy, based on her experience as a human, thought would be something a child would like.

Such as salads, barbecue, fried chicken legs, French fries, prune juice and cheesecake. She is very clear about the children's appetite and does not take too much of each item. If it is not enough, she can add more, but it must not be wasted - this rule only applies to vegetarians.

Poison Ivy's presence caused the usually bustling cafeteria to become quiet. Many people left immediately after eating. Even if some people wanted to stay with other intentions, when the vines spread towards them, they hurried back to their cells and dared not stay any longer.

She waited patiently for Megan to finish her dinner, and then took the initiative to take the plate away. She asked, "Come back with me, Megan. You can stay at my place while your father is away."

It’s more like she has made up her mind rather than asking, and she won’t allow Meghan to refuse - fortunately, she won’t refuse either, so everyone is happy.

The mentally ill criminals in Arkham Asylum all thought that Batman would be able to thwart the newcomer's conspiracy as he had done in the past, teach him a lesson with his fists, and either put him in Blackgate Prison or put him in Arkham to keep them company. But in the end, they only waited for a big news -

Gotham's protector had his back broken by Bane, and was even thrown from a tall building in public.

Even if the Dark Knight could have survived after disappearing from the streets and received treatment, or even if there was a one in ten thousand chance of recovery, he would undoubtedly have been lost in the minds of some.

...Batman is not invincible and can even suffer injuries that could very well leave him with lifelong disabilities.

This news made everyone in Arkham angry. If Batman could be defeated easily, then what were they who were imprisoned by Batman?

What's more, they knew that Bane was using a trick to keep Batman busy, and the time he chose to challenge him was just a few hours after he rescued the mayor from the Joker and Scarecrow. It was not a fair duel.

Rather than speaking up for Batman, it would be more accurate to say that they are trying to restore their own dignity. Only when the enemy's image is recognized as powerful and invincible, their failure is reasonable, not because of their lack of ability or intelligence.

However, no matter how angry they were, they could not escape from Arkham for the second time. The number of people guarding the radio and television doubled. Poison Ivy and Killer Croc watched Megan more closely to prevent anyone from breaking through her and finding the Joker's way in and out of Arkham.

The representative of that group of people is Firefly. He is not willing to accept being caught by Batman at all, and even wants to set fire in Arkham. Unfortunately, there are no materials or buildings for him to burn here. Without his own costume, he cannot set fire at will like the people on the magic side.

Poison Ivy poisoned him, so Firefly was covered in sores and bedridden. No one else dared to target Megan openly.

That would have been fine, but the Riddler thought that even if the Joker's plan failed, he was not caught by Batman on the spot. Since Batman was defeated, he might have a conflict with Bane. However, not long after, he saw the Joker being locked up.

He was still defeated by 'Batman' and was sent back by GCPD.

The Riddler saw that the Joker had obvious injuries on his face, and whoever caused the injuries had hit him hard. He asked, "Not Batman? Which impostor thinks that he is Batman just because he has the cape?" He even asked in a mocking tone.

Even the Riddler found this ridiculous and incomprehensible. Did Batman protect Gotham solely through force? Could imitating Bane's methods actually be a better crime fighter than Batman?

He figured this out easily, but he still asked curiously, "So...Batman's spine was really broken by Bane?"

Bane's partying was nothing compared to their frequent acts of kidnapping hostages, planting bombs in schools, shopping malls, hospitals or banks, and spreading poison gas throughout the city. However, he was bold enough to target the military's weapons at the beginning and destroy Arkham with missiles, which made him both brave and resourceful.

However, being able to break Batman's spine is truly a unique achievement.

The clown's usual smile faded, and he waved his hand, saying, "Absolutely true."

The Riddler was curious about why the Joker didn't deal with Bane or the imposter, but came back instead. Anyway, they had no conflict of interest or contradiction now, so he asked whatever he wanted to ask.

The clown didn't feel offended, "I have some faith in our old friend. He will come back, but it's not the right time yet."

So what kind of timing is needed for the authentic Batman Returns?

The situation has to be bad enough for Batman to take the initiative, otherwise he will retire and never do this job again!

After careful consideration, the Joker decided not to be that person and had to come back to look after Megan. However, there was already a suitable candidate - the fake 'Batman'. He could see the difference between Batman and 'Batman' clearly, so his choice was simple accordingly.

There is no real Batman here, who would play with the fake Batman.

So when the Riddler tried to teach Megan logical thinking and failed miserably, they all heard that Batman became more and more brutal, and after gaining a pair of claws and changing his image, he defeated Bane.

After that, Scarecrow was beaten by Batman and sent back. He even nearly fell to his death.

While the Scarecrow, the Riddler and the Clown were sitting together chatting, Megan was playing with the rope beside them. She treated it as her new toy, wrapping it around her fingers and changing the way she wrapped it from time to time. She never got tired of it.

Megan turned a deaf ear to their conversation and focused all her attention on the rope in her hand. Suddenly, the rope was taken away by a hand that was not wearing gloves. Megan looked over and met the scarecrow's eyes.

The gloomy man smiled with a hint of sarcasm, waiting to see Megan's reaction, but she was extremely stingy and looked at him as if she was not going to return it. After looking around and finding nothing else that interested her, she stuck to the clown, buried her head and remained silent.

Her concentration was easily distracted, and her eyes would lose focus. Instead, she would come back to her senses very slowly, regaining her perception bit by bit.

Before she could lose herself in thought, the clown pinched her cheek. When his pale face came closer, Megan looked at him, blinked slightly, then stood on tiptoe and touched her forehead with his. Then she became curious about the outside world again, walked around them a few times, and twisted the rope on her clothes and hat.

The Scarecrow was about to say something, but he held it back. The Riddler said, "Our lovely! Innocent and childlike Megan!"

After failing to teach Megan logical thinking, he no longer had any expectations for Megan's brain, and instead found everything about her cute.

He couldn't teach her, absolutely couldn't teach her. It was like talking to a deaf person or playing the lute to a cow. He talked a lot, but Megan turned a deaf ear to him and still didn't understand. She even learned to avoid him.

Because of this, even Killer Croc, who was teaching Megan, despised him.

Being stared at by the monster with its cold and terrifying vertical pupils, it seemed that this was the first time that Killer Croc looked at him so seriously. You know, one of them was a martial artist and the other was a brain artist, and they had little intersection in the past. This really dealt a blow to the Riddler.

Megan glanced at the Riddler when she heard her name, then quickly looked away.

The Riddler thinks he is the smartest person and that he can easily change Megan and make her better, like a normal child, but his psychology skills are not up to par. Neither the guardian, the Joker, nor the psychology professor, the Scarecrow, thinks so, but he is confident.

Megan is a sick child, she can only get better slowly on her own. The Joker hopes for his gains and of course has made adjustments for her, but that is all subtle.

A baby asked when Jason would appear → In the third year of the article (the next year of the current timeline), they were still young.

Megan is now 9 years old and Jason is only 11 years old. This article sets him up to be adopted at the age of 12.

As for Jason and Megan's romance, don't worry! It's absolutely fine! The Joker raised the cub and it's healthy. I've already written this outrageous (trying not to be OOC) setting, so I can handle some more bizarre romances.

This article is for raising and pampering a child. Even if she has some minor problems now, they will be cured.

PS: I updated the commissioned work for Megan on vb (id: Wuwan Wuwan), and also the wallpaper that my friend [Teacher Jue] commissioned for Megan.

I also set up a character card. I don't know if you have seen it~

PSS: I really can’t write about a milestone that is more important to Megan, but it will be in the next chapter!
