Chapter 48 Chapter 48 [VIP]

Chapter 48 Chapter 48 [VIP]

Scarecrow couldn't understand what the Joker had done to Megan that could have significantly improved the symptoms of an autistic child and stimulated her out of her self-enclosed state, but he could use his proud knowledge to confirm that it was definitely not a conventional and good method.

You should know that since autism was discovered and defined in the 20th century, the medical community has been trying to figure out what exactly causes this disease, but to this day, they still have not been able to fully understand this disease.

When they tried to cure autistic patients, they found that there were only a few treatments that could improve the patients' condition, and they were basically intervention therapies and behavioral corrections, which were time-consuming and slow to take effect. Drugs had little effect and could only be taken strictly under doctor's orders when patients showed severe emotional and behavioral abnormalities. In addition, doctors could only recommend that patients supplement their dietary nutrition.

So how did the Joker do it?

Scarecrow admits that the Joker's laughing gas is an unsolvable horrific invention. Even if Batman keeps researching serums and antidotes, he can never effectively deal with the damage that this type of gas causes to the brain nerves.

Laughing gas can make people laugh uncontrollably, eventually leading to death, or losing their minds and becoming a fool who can only laugh. He also has a kind of laughing gas that can control the brain nerves and even thinking, turning people into chess pieces who feel no pain, no fear, and charge into battle for him.

The Scarecrow is extremely satisfied with the fear gas he created, and has used it to subdue countless people. Even Batman and Robin are sometimes defeated by his gas, but his masterpiece... is ineffective against the Joker.

Even though he was unwilling, he could not say that the invention of fear gas was greater than laughing gas. After all, he did not dare to inhale laughing gas at all, and he could not crack the formula of laughing gas.

The Joker is a more talented chemist than him, but how did he do it?

He tried to guess that the Joker had used a nitrous oxide-like gas on Megan, but something didn't make sense.

First of all, Megan's previous symptoms were mainly self-isolation, severe communication barriers, refusal to communicate, lack of interest, stereotyped behavior, avoiding eye contact in social situations, and being unable to respond...

The only problem she has is that there is no obvious nerve damage, no obvious abnormalities in emotions and behaviors, and no symptoms such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and self-harm. She seems to be fine, but compared to those children who can express their emotions and likes and dislikes and therefore can receive targeted training, her condition is more serious.

The only way to make her get better slowly is through subtle guidance in life, and gradually expand her perception, just like when she was in Arkham before. Even if they did very little intentionally, they were still conducting intervention training, which had a subtle impact on her but would not cause rejection.

Later, Megan was able to learn and understand knowledge, proving that there was nothing wrong with her brain.

When Megan spoke that afternoon, it was her response to the outside world, but judging from her tears and pain, this child was extremely resistant to communicating and responding to the outside world, and she was in fear.

fear--

This is an emotion that many autistic children will experience. Some of them suffer from severe stress, which leads to self-harm. Many autistic patients have a high tendency to commit suicide, and the essence of this is to escape out of fear. Similarly, autistic children will react more intensely than ordinary people to things that they reject and hate.

Therefore, it is entirely conceivable that when the Joker makes her come out of her closed self-state, the reaction in her will be more painful and intense, but Megan is currently in a very calm state.

It is not calm in the common sense of medicine. She should not be like this now. Instead, she will be affected by many aspects such as neurology, psychology, and spirit. The somatic symptoms will also be serious. In short, she will not be in the completely unaffected state like now.

The Scarecrow really wanted to know the answer to this question and wanted to find out how the clown did it.

Unfortunately, Megan's changes occurred during the time when she was taken out of Arkham by the Joker. Scarecrow had no way of knowing much information and naturally could not analyze it. He even vaguely felt that it was the Joker's plan, and he was unwilling to let others get involved in the child's changes.

So, back to the question, can the clown's laughing gas have an effect on a sick child like Megan? Especially in a positive way?

The Scarecrow might have laughed at the thought, but his smile was full of sarcasm. Linking the clown with healing? No, it wasn't the clown who was crazy; it was he himself who was completely crazy and had lost all reason.

But when he looked at Megan at this moment, his eyes were terribly gloomy, and he said slowly: "Are you okay? Megan? You..."

That look seemed to want to dissect Megan from the inside out. It had to be said that he was curious about this kid. After all, if he asked the clown about these things, he would only be humiliated. But if he chose to approach Megan, she didn't have a good brain anyway, and it looked like he could still deceive and tease her for a long time.

Staying in Arkham and unable to leave for the time being, Scarecrow wants to have some fun for himself. Well, he is now Joker No. 2.

Even Killer Croc felt uncomfortable under his gaze. When the monster bared its fang-filled, terrifying snout, trying to intimidate him, Scarecrow leaned back, gestured to Killer Croc, and said, "Stop, stop! Don't be so impatient, Crocodile."

"Don't you want to know what caused the change in her?"

If you want to be a qualified parent, you have to pay some attention to your child's situation, right? After all, he is a professor in this field. If there is anyone in Arkham who is more professional than him...

Scarecrow still refuses the Joker's academic bullying.

However, Killer Croc didn't do what he wanted and roared fiercely, "No need!"

The cold-blooded animal's vertical pupils were full of alertness, and a hint of murderous intent emerged. Compared to his deterrent power in pure force, Scarecrow's reputation was even worse. He was notorious both inside and outside Arkham. After all, he used to capture people for experiments in order to test the effects of poison gas, and he didn't care about their life or death.

If Scarecrow takes something seriously, it's hard to say he won't do something irrational. His paranoia has never been cured.

Killer Croc's voice boomed like thunder as he spoke in a deep voice, "Put away your calculations, Klein. I don't need to know the answer."

He did not have the spirit of scientific inquiry. Choosing to shelter Megan as a child did not mean that he would take care of everything for her or keep a close watch on her.

Just like when the Joker took Megan away, they had all escaped Arkham, but did he go out to look for Megan? He was already paying a little attention to her through his own information channels. Only when Megan was in Arkham, where he could see her, would he pay any attention to her.

He could not remain indifferent to the children's miserable situation, but the care he showed was limited and limited.

Under Killer Croc's creepy gaze, this former psychology professor, who had a scholarly temperament but was not a good person, quickly calmed down. But now, seeing the affectionate look between the crocodile children, he didn't want to make trouble.

Megan has ignored him until now. She is still that stingy child who will not pay any attention to people and things that do not interest her. Even though that wandering gaze was directed in his direction, it passed over him and landed on the wall of the Arkham Passage.

She found it more interesting to look at the wall than he did, but her actions were meaningless - the purpose was not to gain recognition, not to seek a response, and it was still a manifestation of her communication disorder.

The scarecrow looked at her deeply and left decisively.

Megan didn't sense the danger, but Killer Croc's cold-blooded pupils flashed with deep thought. He was outside the cell, and unlike the two monsters in the cell, his intelligence was not inferior to many criminals in Arkham. Of course, he noticed the abnormality shown by Scarecrow and his last look.

Killer Croc knew that autism was difficult to cure, and judging from Scarecrow's behavior, Megan's condition was obviously different, but he had no intention of exploring it. He turned his head and saw Clayface still making noisy noises, so he walked over and kicked the cell door hard.

As Clayface was enraged, Megan was lifted up to the narrow window, with both hands on the cell door, and soon she had a small socket wrench, hitting Clayface with the clay that was spilling out the window.

Almost instantly, the speed of the mud surged faster, and there were two sunken pits on the three-dimensional clay that appeared behind the window. The sunken parts appeared white, which were the eye sockets and eyeballs of the mud face. He saw Megan.

They were inexplicably good friends. Megan stretched out her hand towards the window, and soon the face with mud and sand moved away, and a clay claw stretched out from inside.

Megan went to grab the sharp claw and quickly looked down at Killer Croc.

What she meant was very simple, and Killer Croc understood it easily. He raised his other hand and showed her his sharp claws. Megan then discovered that their claws... were both pointed, but she pinched Clayface's claws and vaguely felt that they were different.

The color was also different, she suddenly realized, but she didn't feel anything unusual. After retracting her hand, she looked away, and Killer Croc took her away.

They walked to the lawn outside. When Killer Croc put Megan down on the ground, she became interested in the flowers and plants everywhere. When she found one, she would squat in front of it for a while, without reaching out to touch it, but just lowered her head to blow its leaves.

A fine breeze blew out of her mouth, making the easily moved leaves sway left and right. As for some plants that were stiff, or when she blew on the main stem of the plant, they ignored her.

Megan was concentrating on doing these 'meaningless' things. When she was finally squatting in front of the electric fence, Killer Croc came over and carried her away. The child was holding a wrench in his hand.

When she was taken to a safe place, she looked up at the hideous monster beside her. He said, "You've learned that electricity is a dangerous energy. If you touch it rashly, it will turn you into a pile of charcoal."

But she didn't understand danger, or energy, or coke.

Killer Croc was silent for a moment, then said, "Touching the electric grid will prevent you from ever seeing your father again." Life and death are a vast distance in this world, but as for the afterlife? Only the dead know.

The processed words were easy to understand. Megan understood, nodded, and took small steps to hide closer to him.

The author has something to say:
