Chapter 398: Convinced

Chapter 398: Convinced

Zhou Laoer's legs were numb from kneeling, but he didn't feel uncomfortable at all. He was so scared that his whole body was wet. In the Zhou family, he was the Second Master. Once he succeeded, he would be a member of the clan. The gap was too big, especially since his father was highly valued by the emperor. His father had a bright future and it was not impossible for him to hold a high position in the future.

Time passed little by little. Zhulan was reading a book and eating pine nuts outside. It was good to have Zhou Shuren with her. She didn't have to worry about anything.

The courtyards of the first and second houses are adjacent. Zhou Laoda and Li were talking about Zhou Laoer. Zhou Laoer followed his parents back to the main courtyard. It was getting late, and he did not hear the sound of the main door closing next door.

Li's intuition was accurate. "Master, mother asked Yu Shuang to live in the main courtyard. Did the second son do something today? I just feel like something is not right."

Boss Zhou also felt something was wrong. His wife spent the longest time with his mother. "What do you think is wrong?"

Li lowered her voice, "Although mother and I were talking and laughing, I just felt that mother was not happy. I should say she was very unhappy."

Boss Zhou calculated the time, "Old Two has been gone for almost half an hour, and he still hasn't come back. I guess something serious is going on."

Li pouted, "The second wife has really offended my parents. I will not beg for mercy on behalf of Zhao."

Boss Zhou smiled and said, "Okay."

In the second room, Mrs. Zhao was walking around the room. She had a bad feeling and became more and more uneasy as time went by.

Yu Shuang was dazed. She didn't know what her parents had done, but based on her understanding of her grandmother, she knew she would deal with the matter objectively. She was not worried. "Mom, Dad is fine."

Zhao's eyes lit up when she looked at her daughter, and she took her hand and said, "Your grandmother likes you, go to the main courtyard to see your father."

Yu Shuang frowned, "Mom, grandma doesn't like us coming over."

Zhao was anxious and wanted to say something to Yu Shuang, but she didn't dare to say it. The concubine would live in the main courtyard in the future, and she hoped that the concubine would speak more for the second house.

Yu Shuang was not stupid. She didn't know what her parents had done, but she knew it was all because of her grandmother. She pursed her lips unhappily. After dinner, her grandmother went back to the room. She saw clearly that her grandmother's face was very pale. She never responded to her mother's words to her grandmother.

In the third room, Chang Lian was chatting with Dong. This was a habit he developed after talking to Dong. Every day he would talk to Dong before going to bed. Today they were chatting about the second room.

Mrs. Dong asked, "My husband, why did my second brother go back with our parents?"

Chang Lian said quietly, "We'll know tomorrow."

In the entire Zhou family, the person he disliked the most was his second brother. Even though his second brother had no presence in the past, he still didn't like him.

After about an hour, Zhou Shuren opened his eyes and looked at Zhou Laoer who was still kneeling, "Let's go back."

Zhou Laoer's legs were numb and he staggered to his feet. He finally stood up by holding onto the table. He stood there for a long time without moving. His legs were numb and painful. "Dad, I'll stand for a while and then go back."

Zhou Shuren stood up and hummed, then tidied up the tea sets on the table. When everything was almost tidied, Zhou Laoer was able to walk, but he was limping.

Zhulan heard the sound and looked over. Zhou Laoer's nasal voice was particularly heavy, "Mom."

Zhulan waved her hand, "Go back."

Zhou Laoer didn't mean to ask his mother to plead for him. He just felt that it was great to have a mother. "Mom, you should go to bed early too."

As he said this, Zhou Laoer walked out slowly. When he returned to the second room, Zhao saw her husband limping and his eyes turned red. "It's all because of me."

Zhou Laoer waved his hand, "It has nothing to do with you. It's all my fault. However, go ask your mother-in-law how much she took from the Qian family. This time when I go to Pingzhou, I will help her return the things that she doesn't deserve."

Zhao was stunned, "Husband, what did you say?"

Zhou Laoer said, "If you don't know, go ask your mother-in-law and you'll know. By the way, I will buy a house in Chuanzhou before I leave. When I go to Pingzhou, you should pack up your things and we'll go to Chuanzhou when I come back."

Zhao was panicked, "My husband, why do we have to go to Chuanzhou?"

Zhou Laoer looked at Zhao. Zhao had a lot on her mind, so it was better for him to explain everything clearly to prevent her from having wild thoughts. Zhou Laoer repeated what his father had said to him.

Mrs. Zhao's heart was pounding. Her parents-in-law thought her husband was cold-hearted, so why wasn't she the same? Her sister-in-law treated her well, so how could she treat her sister-in-law? Her mother-in-law treated her well, so how could she let her mother-in-law down? She was also cold-hearted!

The next morning, Zhulan and Zhou Shuren had a good rest. Zhulan supported Zhou Shuren's decision with both hands. On the other hand, the couple in the second room had black eyes, as they had not slept all night.

Zhou Shuren didn't care about Zhou Laoer's face at all. He had to fight for his own face and make the decision himself.

Zhou Lao Da and his brothers were all shocked. Zhou Lao Da was stunned. He didn't understand what Zhou Lao Er had done that his father would let the second son and his wife live alone.

Chang Lian glanced at his second brother. He thought that his second brother must have crossed his parents' bottom line. He should be happy that his parents showed mercy to him.

Zhou Shuren finally gave Zhou Laoer some face and didn't mention the succession. Zhou Shuren looked even more dignified in his official uniform. "Okay, let's eat."

Zhou Laoer lowered his head. He really couldn't eat. This time it was like being exiled. He didn't know when he could go home.

Zhao's eyes were red. She asked her mother last night and realized how much her mother had gone too far. Her husband didn't dare to use the family's reputation to get things done, so how could her mother dare? The Qian family has always been very respectful to her father-in-law. Her mother used her father-in-law to get most of the Qian family's property. Isn't this putting her father-in-law in an unfair position? Her mother came to her for help, but she didn't know what the Qian family would say about the Zhou family. This feud was almost over.

Zhao regretted it. She regretted why she went to her mother-in-law for help without asking clearly. She regretted that she lost all her face for the sake of face.

Even Fang didn’t dare to come for breakfast.

Zhao lowered her head and tears fell into the bowl. Li saw it and tried to speak several times but was stopped by her mother-in-law's eyes. Li felt very upset and completely forgot that she had promised not to speak up for Zhao last night.

After breakfast, Zhou Laoer went to Chuanzhou to buy a house.

Zhao didn't dare to get close to Zhulan, and Fang shrank back and didn't dare to come out.

Zhulan felt a little bored in the house, so she wandered around in the garden. As winter passed and spring came, the garden became green, and Zhulan felt much better.

Zhulan just looked at Li helplessly, "How long are you going to follow me?"

Li was pregnant and felt very tired after walking for a while. "Mom, do my second brother and Zhao have to go to Chuanzhou? Can't they not go? It would be great if the whole family could be together."

Zhulan's eyes were full of smiles, and Li's heart softened, "They must go. This is what your father wanted."

Li was stunned. She was really afraid of her father-in-law. In this family, the only one who was not afraid of her father-in-law was the mother-in-law.

Dong followed behind and looked up at her sister-in-law. She finally realized that it would be strange if her mother-in-law was not partial to her sister-in-law. She regretted treating her sister-in-law like that in Pingzhou.

Zhulan walked around for a while and then went back. Yushuang should have moved in, so she wanted to go and see her.

Li was also tired and wanted to go back to the yard. She felt happy in her heart and her steps were lighter as she had done her duty to Zhao.

Mrs. Dong rushed over, "Sister-in-law."

Li turned around in confusion, "Is there something wrong with my third brother's wife?"

Dong bowed her head and said, "I'm sorry, sister-in-law. I shouldn't have done that in Pingzhou."

Being young is not an excuse. She was wrong and that’s it. Her apology was insincere before, but this time it was genuine. She really admired her sister-in-law.

Li was stunned for a moment, then smiled happily, "I had forgotten it a long time ago. You were young at that time, and I really didn't take it seriously."

What’s more, her mother-in-law vented her anger for her!

Mrs. Dong believed what her sister-in-law said and said with a smile, "Thank you, sister-in-law."

Zhulan returned to the main courtyard. Yushuang was packing up her jewelry boxes and saw her grandmother. "Grandma, I'm almost done."

Zhulan looked at Yushuang's red eyes and touched her face. "Grandma and Grandpa did this for a reason."

Yu Shuang hugged her grandmother and said, "Grandma, I'm not a child anymore. I know everything."

She overheard what her mother and grandmother said when she went to see her mother. She knew in her heart that her grandparents were educating her father, just like they were educating her third uncle.

Zhulan touched Yushuang's hair and found that the women in the Zhou family were all sensible.
