Chapter 48 Wontons

Chapter 48 Wontons

As soon as Qing'er stepped out of the room, she saw Li Lianhua practicing his sword. He stood tall and straight, and the sword in his hands seemed to come alive. The sword flashed like a shooting star across the night sky. Sunlight shone on him, giving him a golden glow, making him look like a celestial being from a painting.

Qing'er was so engrossed in watching that she only snapped out of her daze when Li Lianhua stopped and approached.

Li Lianhua raised her eyebrows slightly, revealing a gentle smile, and asked, "Qing'er, is it pretty?"

"Cough, beautiful." Qing'er's cheeks flushed slightly. It was unclear whether she meant the person was beautiful or the sword dance was beautiful. But you couldn't blame her; who doesn't like to watch a beautiful person? (Author's note: I've been seeing this traffic cop a lot lately, he's so handsome, hehe!)

Li Lianhua couldn't suppress the smile on his face. It seemed to be working. It was worth getting up so early... cough.

"I'll go wash up first, then I'll take you to get something to eat." Li Lianhua thought that Qing'er had just gotten up and hadn't eaten anything yet.

Inside Yangzhou city, Li Lianhua and Qing'er stood in front of a wonton stall. "Uncle Zhang, two bowls of wontons, as usual," he said with a familiar smile.

The stall owner was a chubby middle-aged man who squinted at him when he saw him: "Hey, it's been a while since Master Li has come." He twirled the bamboo ladle in his hand in the boiling water, and the snow-white wontons tumbled around.

Qing'er curiously examined the small stall. The wooden tables and stools were worn smooth, and the enamel bowls had a few small chips on the rims.

"Li Lianhua, do you come here often?" Qing'er asked softly.

"This wonton shop is pretty good. I used to stop here whenever I passed by after running errands." As soon as Li Lianhua finished speaking, two bowls of wontons were placed on the table. The wrappers were so thin that you could see the pinkish-white meat filling, and the soup was sprinkled with bright green scallions.

Qing'er carefully blew on the wontons in the bowl, and the steaming wontons gradually released an enticing aroma under her breath. She couldn't wait to bite into the wonton skin, and in that instant, the delicious soup burst open on her tongue like a clear spring.

The delicious broth instantly filled her mouth, and Qing'er's eyes lit up. The taste of these wontons was slightly inferior to that of the God of Cookery, but they had a unique flavor and were still quite good.

Seeing Qing'er eating with such satisfaction, Li Lianhua couldn't help but smile and began to eat the wontons in her own bowl.

After they finished eating, they strolled around Yangzhou. Li Lianhua noticed that the men on the street were all staring at Qing'er with admiration, so he moved even closer to her. The men, however, looked at Li Lianhua next to Qing'er and turned away in disappointment.

Some of the girls rolled their eyes at their behavior. With someone as outstanding as Sect Leader Li around, no girl would even look at them.

Actually, it wasn't just men watching them; people of all ages and genders were staring at them. Almost everyone here knew Li Lianhua, and everyone was curious about the kind of girl who had saved Sect Leader Li. After seeing her, everyone exclaimed that the so-called "most beautiful woman in the world" paled in comparison to Qing'er.

Don't ask them how they knew the girl beside Sect Leader Li was Qing'er. Isn't that obvious? If Sect Leader Li had such a beautiful girl by his side before, wouldn't they know? So it can only be Qing'er who appeared recently.

As she walked, Qing'er's gaze was suddenly drawn to a small stall not far ahead. Upon closer inspection, she realized it was a stall selling sugar figurines! The colorful and lifelike sugar figurines seemed to exude an enticing sweet aroma, making Qing'er's eyes light up.

She took Li Lianhua's hand and walked quickly toward the stall, muttering, "Wow, what beautiful sugar figurines!"

Li Lianhua looked at his little hand being held and felt inexplicably happy.

When they arrived at the stall, Qing'er said to the owner, "Boss, could you make two of the same ones as us?"

Hearing the voice, the boss looked up, glanced at Qing'er and Li Lianhua, and smiled kindly: "Of course."
