Chapter 52 The Li Residence
Li Lianhua looked at Shan Gudao, whose face was still full of resentment even after death, and remained silent for a while before saying to Feng Qing, "Find a place to bury him." After saying that, she stepped forward and took the jade pendant away.
"Yes," Feng Qing cupped his hands in a respectful gesture.
Li Lianhua continued, "After you've finished dealing with the matters of Wanshengdao, come find me at Sigumen." He thought to himself, once Feng Qing arrives, he'll have someone to help him with the work. The people at Sigumen are good at fighting, but they're not very good at handling affairs. With Feng Qing, things will finally be a bit easier. After all, Feng Qing manages Wanshengdao quite well, and he believes he can do the same at Sigumen.
"Yes, my lord, I will go as soon as possible." Feng Qing was overjoyed. As long as his lord needed him, that was enough.
Meanwhile, Qing'er secretly cast a spell on Shan Gudao. She felt that Shan Gudao's death was too easy, so she did something to ensure that in his next life he would live a life where he wanted to die but couldn't, and wanted to live but couldn't. He would be in pain his whole life unless he kept doing good deeds and accumulating merit. Otherwise, he would not be able to live peacefully even in his next life.
After leaving Wanshengdao, Li Lianhua and Qing'er went to the Li residence. They had asked Qi Mushan beforehand and were told that Li Lianhua's family members were buried there.
They went to a nearby town to buy offerings for the memorial service, and the closer they got to the Li residence, the more silent Li Lianhua became. Qing'er, seeing his expression, whispered, "Li Lianhua, you still have your master and mistress. And many other people love you."
Li Lianhua forced a smile. "I'm fine." Finally arriving at the Li residence, the dilapidated scene came into view: weeds overgrown among the crumbling walls, a desolate wasteland. Li Lianhua walked in heavily, stopping before three graves. He slowly knelt down, arranging the offerings one by one, his eyes filled with sorrow. "Father, Mother, Brother, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I forgot about you and only came to see you now."
Qing'er stood quietly beside him. Suddenly, she sensed a trace of yin energy. Her gaze fell on the little boy who had suddenly appeared in front of Li Lianhua. The little boy was about 10 years old. He looked at Li Lianhua happily and said, "Xiang Yi? This is Xiang Yi after he grew up."
After hearing Li Lianhua's words, he comforted her, saying, "It's okay. Xiangyi was still young then, so it's normal that he doesn't remember. Don't blame yourself." As he spoke, he felt a little lost. He remembered that Xiangyi couldn't hear him or see him.
Qing'er was somewhat surprised. This was Li Xiangxian? She knew that there was an underworld when she first came to this world. After so long, she didn't expect Li Xiangxian to still be here. Logically speaking, after so long, he should be living in the underworld after being reincarnated. How could he be here?
Then Qing'er looked him over again and realized why he was still there.
Li Xiangxian felt someone was watching him. Following the gaze, he saw Qing'er. He asked uncertainly and nervously, "Miss... can you... see me?"
Qing'er nodded. "I can see it."
Li Xiangxian looked at Qing'er with a shocked expression, then at the shadow on the ground. Was it a living person?
Because Qing'er spoke directly. Kneeling there with a sorrowful expression, Li Lianhua turned back to Qing'er in confusion. "Qing'er, who are you talking to?" Li Lianhua looked around, bewildered. Nobody was there? Then who was Qing'er talking to? As if realizing something, he shuddered. Could it be…?
Qing'er pointed at Li Xiangxian and whispered, "Your brother, Li Xiangxian." Li Lianhua looked in the direction she was pointing, but couldn't see anything. He was feeling very conflicted, both afraid and expectant. He was afraid that such a thing really existed, but he was also somewhat hopeful that his brother was indeed there.
Li Xiangxian gestured urgently in Li Lianhua's direction, but unfortunately Li Lianhua couldn't sense it at all.
Qing'er immediately realized that Li Lianhua couldn't see her. "Wait!" she said, and then cast a spell on his eyes.
Li Lianhua's eyes welled up with tears again as he looked at Li Xiangxian before him. He reached out to touch his brother, but could only pass through thin air. "Brother?"
"Xiangyi, it's my brother." Li Xiangxian looked at Li Lianhua's actions and reached out his hand as well. Although they couldn't touch, his face was full of joy.
Li Lianhua said, her voice choked with emotion, "I'm sorry, I forgot about you all."
Li Xiangxian comforted him, saying, "It's alright. Xiangyi was still young then, it's normal that he doesn't remember. Don't be sad, your parents won't blame you."
