Chapter 56 Going Back

Chapter 56 Going Back

Li Lianhua looked at the sword in his hand with a bitter smile. Shan Gu Dao was dead. Originally, he felt that no matter who gave him the sword, it was innocent and he had no intention of throwing it away. But now he knew that this sword carried the lives of the entire He family, so he could no longer keep it.

Actually, he felt guilty. When he arrived, there was only one child left in the He family. He originally wanted to personally send the child to his maternal grandparents' home, but he had something to do along the way, so he thought he would send him there a few days later. But Shan Gudao said that he could help send him there and told him to go and do whatever he needed to do.

He was still somewhat hesitant at the time, but someone had died there, so he became anxious. He also trusted Shan Gudao, whom he had grown up with, and finally agreed to let Shan Gudao deliver the child. Later, he heard from Shan Gudao that the child had died of illness on the way, and he was saddened for a while, but there was nothing he could do, so he didn't think much of it. Now he knows that Shan Gudao killed the child.

Qing'er could tell at a glance that he was getting stuck on his own thoughts again, and said irritably, "Stop blaming yourself. You didn't kill anyone. The people who should be blaming themselves aren't, so why are you blaming yourself? Besides, I just calculated that the child has already been reincarnated, and into a wealthy and powerful family. His family loves him very much, and he's living a very happy life. Stop blaming yourself all the time. You can't exhaust yourself like that, or life will be too tiring."

Looking at the somewhat irritable Qing'er, Li Lianhua guiltily touched her nose and whispered, "I know, I won't do it again." Then she asked curiously, "You can tell fortunes?"

Qing'er proudly said, "Basic operation." Although she hadn't specialized in this field, at her level of cultivation, she could still calculate some superficial things.

Li Lianhua's eyes widened slightly. Was Qing'er from...? Then he...?

Seeing him standing there lost in thought, Qing'er waved her hand in front of him and asked, "What are you thinking about?"

Li Lianhua snapped out of her daze, a smile appearing on her face. Then, half-jokingly, she said to Qing'er, "Then can you predict my future marriage prospects?"

Qing'er rolled her eyes at him. "I'm not the matchmaker, what am I supposed to do with marriage? Aren't you just stealing the matchmaker's job?" Cough cough, mainly because she had just secretly tried to calculate it, but she didn't know why she couldn't figure it out. Logically speaking, she should be able to calculate the marriage of a mortal, but the fact is she just couldn't.

However, she would not say it out loud. How could a dignified Golden Immortal not be able to predict the marriage of a mortal? Wouldn't she lose face if she said it?

"Okay," Li Lianhua replied with some disappointment.

Qing'er changed the subject, asking, "So what do you plan to do with this sword?"

“Let’s go to the He family’s house and bury it there. That way, it will be returned to its rightful owner,” Li Lianhua said softly.

Qing'er thought this was a good idea, so she controlled the flying magical artifact and headed towards the He family. After dealing with the sword, they stayed outside for another half a month. It was only after Feng Qing sent a message saying that they had arrived at Si Gu Gate that they decided to return.

They had barely stepped through the Four Gates, and before they could even catch their breath, a group of people surged up like a tide and instantly surrounded them.

"Sect Leader, you're finally back!"

"Sect Leader, you've been gone for half a month! We were so worried!"

"Sect Master, during your absence, there have been so many affairs in the sect that we are almost overwhelmed!"

The crowd chattered amongst themselves, their voices rising and falling, seemingly trying to drown them out.

They weren't good at these kinds of things to begin with, and once the sect leader left, they started dealing with the sect's affairs in a miserable way. Every day was mentally taxing, and this kind of mental strain was different from solving cases. If the sect leader didn't come back soon, they would all be on the verge of collapse.
