Chapter 28 Seeking Help

Chapter 28 Seeking Help

Qing'er stepped out of the forbidden area, stretched, and instead of rushing back, leisurely strolled towards the Fairy Pavilion. The reason she had spoken so much to Yin Shi Wang was partly because he was the Queen Mother's junior brother, and partly because he wasn't inherently evil. As seen in the story, even knowing the seven princesses were his nemesis, he never intended to kill them. For example, later in the Heavenly Court, when only the eldest princess remained, he only tried to trick her into descending to the mortal realm. When that failed, he simply threw her there. If he had killed her outright, there would have been many more consequences.

Qing'er strolled leisurely along the road, enjoying the gentle breeze on her face. As she walked, she suddenly noticed something was amiss, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Suddenly, without noticing, she realized that the people around her seemed to be radiating a special aura—the scent of spring's arrival.

Everywhere on the street, men and women walked hand in hand or side by side, their faces beaming with smiles as warm as the spring sunshine. Some wore brightly colored clothes, blooming like flowers in the crowd; others spoke softly and chatted amiably, as gentle as a spring breeze.

Qing'er saw a boy gently brushing aside a girl's wind-blown hair, and the girl smiled shyly, her eyes filled with love.

She looked elsewhere, and everywhere she looked, the air reeked of the cloying sweetness of romance. Qing'er, finally realizing the problem, stared in disbelief, then shivered and flashed back to the Fairy Pavilion. She sat down, poured herself a glass of water, and drank to calm her nerves. "Heavens! Is this the consequence of changing the heavenly rules? It's terrifying! Before, these people walked by like strangers, not even nodding. How come they're all in love all of a sudden?"

If anyone knew what Qing'er was thinking, they would all say, "Well, the Heavenly Rules were there before, and nobody thought of it that way." It's not that the Heavenly Rules have changed; people just think of this when they see the other person, and it's also because it's novel.

In the days that followed, Qing'er would encounter these couples whenever she went out, and gradually she lost interest in going out. She was always either refining pills or forging weapons. One day, she had just finished refining a batch of pills and put them away with satisfaction. Then, not knowing what to do next, she sat there in a daze for a while.

"Are you bored? Want to see something interesting?"

"Who?" Qing'er was startled when she suddenly heard a voice.

"Tsk tsk, kids are so easily frightened." Suddenly, an old man with a white beard appeared in front of Qing'er.

"Who are you?" Qing'er asked warily as she looked at the old man who had suddenly appeared and whose cultivation level she couldn't discern.

The old man stroked his beard and chuckled, "I am the Heavenly Dao." Qing'er looked the old man up and down. This is the Heavenly Dao? She wondered why the voice sounded so familiar. It was the voice that had sent him the message before. She asked, "Then why did you suddenly appear?"

"I just thought you were so bored, so I wanted to find something for you to do to cheer you up," he said with a smile.

Qing'er narrowed her eyes. "Speak, is there something you need my help with?" There must be something, otherwise, how could a Heavenly Dao possibly notice me? How boring! Nobody would believe that.

"Cough cough, you little brat are really not cute." Tiandao was taken aback by her words.

"If you don't tell me, I'm going into seclusion," Qing'er said, standing up.

"Hey, sit down, sit down. Young people these days have no patience." Tiandao quickly called out to stop her. After Qing'er sat down again, he continued, "It's just that a little Tiandao from a small world called Dujiaoshou came to me for help. I felt sorry for him and wanted to help him. I happened to see you were bored, so I thought I'd ask you to come and help out."
