As soon as the countdown ended, the race car-like Wind Chaser suddenly leaped forward, launching a lightning-fast surprise attack.
But the race began with Silvia's motorcycle charging forward.
With its black body and green energy bar, it pulled away from the main force almost effortlessly from the start.
"Alright, everyone, the annual Wilderness Unregulated Mech Racing Competition is officially starting!"
"This racecourse runs from 'Lazarus Mountain' on the border of the Empire all the way to 'Lake Rank' on the outskirts of the capital. It is the world-famous 'Marching into the Capital' racecourse!"
"Yes, athletes from all over the world have already set off."
“We can see that the three-time champion Silvia adopted an ‘escape’ strategy, trying to stay at the front of the team from the beginning and lead all the way to the end.”
“This is the right choice. Sylvia’s racing philosophy is that ‘nothing should be added to the track.’ She won’t bring men or gadgets onto the track. In a no-rules race, other mechs are equipped with terrifying gadgets. Once the Speedster Motorcycle gets caught up in the chaos, the situation will be overwhelmingly unfavorable for her!”
"That's right, on the contrary, Aznavul is using the 'bad' strategy this time. It's in the middle group and is unleashing its terrifying combat power, taking down the opponents one by one! One mech has been smashed flat! Rescue team, rescue team!"
The voices of the two presenters came through the radio broadcast mounted on the mech.
"'Escape'? 'Inferior'?" Li Changzhou asked疑惑地, "Then what are we?"
"Go first." Bea Triss piloted the Wind Chaser, and together with the other mechs, they relentlessly pursued Sylvia, who was running at the forefront, belonging to the second echelon.
Although it is said to be biting down tightly, it is actually only a tiny green dot that can be seen with the naked eye, as faint as a firefly.
Everyone listens to the radio for different reasons. Just like some people play "Honor of Kings," some people are genuinely playing the game, while others enjoy playing it with others.
What Yang Qinglan heard was different from what Li Changzhou heard.
"Is Aznavur attacking other contestants now to pave the way for his attack on us later? Is he disguising it as an indiscriminate attack?" she muttered to herself.
“He is {Burning}’s younger brother. He is both a threat and an opportunity. We can seize him and use him to threaten {Burning},” Li Changzhou said.
"A woman who can defeat all men and pilot an Imperial mech, can she be threatened?" Yaochi crossed her arms behind her head, looking relaxed as if she were enjoying a starlight bath.
The Empire won't really hurt Bea Triss; she no longer needs to be so careful.
For her, the matter would be over once Bea Triss entered the capital.
It's a pity we got the intelligence a little too late, otherwise we wouldn't have had to work so hard and lose our composure—crammed into the cockpit like cotton swabs.
The more she thought about it, the more relaxed she felt. She took out a beer-like drink from the mecha's built-in refrigerator and started drinking it.
Yang Qinglan looked at Li Changzhou. The three of them had clear criteria for judging whether their main missions were successful or not, but how could Li Changzhou give up on [Destroy {Judgment}, {Red Lotus}, {Extinction}], even if he wanted to?
Is it really as the mission statement says, unless Li Changzhou himself dies?
Li Changzhou was also thinking about this problem.
If he cannot complete the main quest, he cannot return and can only stay in this world until one day, when his strength surpasses that of the Imperial Mechs and he destroys the three Mechs by force.
Alternatively, one could climb to the highest level of power in the empire and use that power to destroy three mechs.
Although he could use the time difference to cultivate, gain experience, and increase his strength in this world, Li Changzhou was unwilling to stay in one world for too long, especially since Yang Qinglan and Li Qianxia were not by his side.
I may not want to, but if there's really no other way, this is the only option.
"Have you finished reading the 'Fire God Diagram'?" he asked Yaochi.
"Are you starting to prepare for seclusion?" Yaochi tossed him the "Fire God Diagram," which wasn't suitable for her.
"Just in case," Li Changzhou replied.
Noticing Yang Qinglan's worried expression, he smiled and said, "While you guys are having a cocktail on the ship, I'll be done here, and I'll become super strong by then."
Yang Qinglan looked at Bea Triss, who was focused on driving, and pondered:
"If we kidnap her, without letting her die or enter the capital, we should be able to buy some time. The four of us working together can use the time difference to cultivate, speed up the destruction of the imperial mechs, and keep triggering side quests—what do you think of this plan?"
"I think you've been blinded by love!" Yaochi retorted without any politeness.
She crossed her legs, rested her left arm on the back of the chair, took a swig of wine with her right hand, and said:
"In a direct confrontation, the Imperial mechs will show mercy; anyone you pick is an undercover agent; you want to go to the capital, so you participated in a racing competition specially prepared for us. Once the Duchy's king dies, we'll be worthless. What makes you think you can resist the ruthless Empire?"
Are you scared?
"Don't try to provoke me." Yaochi sneered contemptuously, like a concubine in the imperial palace. "I only care about the benefits I can get my hands on."
She turned her gaze to Li Changzhou: "For example, you could give A-Zhou to me."
"Is this something that can be allowed?" Yang Qinglan asked in return.
"You can just give up."
"If I'm giving up on him, then what's the point of me delaying?"
"Sacrificing for love."
"At the end of 'On the Passions of the Soul,' Descartes wrote that when passions arise, the first thing to do is to remain calm."
"Why are you bringing up Descartes when we're talking about dating?"
