“Li Changzhou, I’ll give you some time to think about it again. Look at my shoulders, which look like they could be squeezed for water, and my arms, which are white, tender, and nimble, like tree roots that have been peeled clean.”
"Since it is so skillful, don't compare it to a tree root that has been stripped of its bark, because tree roots are not so skillful."
"That's the problem!"
"Alright, alright, hurry up and change into your evening gown."
"No need to rush." Yaochi sat down on the sofa, crossed her legs, and looked elegant and charming in her evening gown. "The evening gowns here are all samples. I have already asked the designer to make new ones and send them over along with the jewelry."
This is what rich people are like!
She placed the magazine that Li Changzhou had just been reading on her lap.
"Have you read my book? I left it there, why did you mess it up?" She seemed annoyed that her husband had messed up her neatly folded blankets.
Yaochi did it on purpose. She knew very well that men were drawn to this kind of scolding yet affectionate tone, especially virgins who had never been in a relationship.
Unfortunately, Li Changzhou's attention was entirely on Yang Qinglan. He was taking pictures of her with his phone, intending to use them as wallpapers and look at them in his dreams.
As it was getting dark, the designer delivered the dresses; besides theirs, there was also one for Li Changzhou.
A simple suit, yet he looked dashing.
He looks slender, but he's actually quite muscular, and the suit fits him perfectly.
She looked somewhat sexy, but Yang Qinglan felt something was off—usually, it was men who were flirted with by women in formal attire and wanted to put their arms around the women's waists, but why was she the opposite, wanting to put her arms around Li Changzhou's waist? Wanting to snuggle into his arms?
If she said it aloud, Yaochi would nod and say, "I agree."
"Brother, let's take a picture together! You're so handsome!" Li Qianxia didn't feel awkward at all and reached out to take a picture.
The party was held on the top floor of the most famous building in Songcheng.
"The ball is not only for players, but also for elites from all walks of life. People you often see in the news on your phone will occasionally appear."
The four people sat in the car, which was no longer the Mercedes they had driven before, but a Maserati.
Yaochi comes from an upper class, is powerful, and has a noble temperament, but she is approachable and friendly in her actions, like now, driving in a formal dress.
The Maserati was stopped at the intersection waiting for the traffic light.
"What kind of car is that? The logo looks like a trident, it's quite nice."
"The Maserati Quattroporte isn't expensive either, just over a million."
"Over a million isn't expensive?"
"What does that count for in Songcheng?"
Li Changzhou overheard a conversation between a man and a woman in the car next door.
Outside the window was a sea of neon lights, the world bustling and noisy. Li Changzhou felt this was the most dreamlike night of his 20 years—sitting in a car worth over a million, with a beautiful woman driving, preparing to attend a top-notch party.
The red light turned green, Yaochi stepped on the gas, and the Maserati surged forward with an unstoppable roar.
A song was playing in the car, and the neon lights outside the window stretched as far as the eye could see, making it feel like we were traveling through a time tunnel.
The hotel has been booked out; an invitation card is required for entry.
As soon as they entered, before they could even take in the magnificent building, a slender young woman with a snake-headed neck that was a full sixty centimeters long walked past them, holding a wine glass.
Several players, each no bigger than a finger, were petite and delicate, flying in mid-air, chatting like bees bumping into each other.
"Hey, handsome."
Li Changzhou glanced at a female player in a strapless evening dress with two horns on her head, who stood close to him.
"Alone?" As she spoke, a large, heavy chest pressed against Li Changzhou's arm, trying to clamp it between her breasts.
The woman suddenly swayed backward. She looked at Yang Qinglan in surprise. Yang Qinglan's eyes were turning black again. Her lotus-root-like wrist hooked around Li Changzhou's arm.
"Thank you." Li Changzhou thanked the lady and, with Yang Qinglan in tow, walked contentedly towards the ball.
"Focus, you're not here to play around," Yang Qinglan whispered in his ear.
Li Changzhou leaned his head closer: "Don't worry, my attention is focused on you the whole time."
She hooked her arm around his and gently pinched him.
Li Changzhou smelled the faint fragrance emanating from Yang Qinglan, like the flowers on a winter morning, delicate and elegant, making one want to keep smelling it forever, even in death, and keep it by one's side.
The two followed Yaochi and Li Qianxia, who hadn't noticed what was happening.
"I didn't expect there to be so many non-human players." Li Changzhou scanned the area, looking for any familiar faces.
"Humans are not as bad as they imagine. Animals hate each other the most. They are the real enemies among themselves, fighting for survival at all times. A peaceful human society is naturally what they yearn for."
“That’s right. In the wild, where is the joy and peace of human society compared to struggling for food every day?” A lean man walked over.
"Beautiful human lady, would you like to dance together?" he politely asked Yaochi.
"Sorry." Yaochi smiled and hooked her other hand around Li Changzhou's.
Li Changzhou immediately prepared to shake them off.
"You're wearing the clothes I gave you, and you won't even help me with this little thing?" Yaochi's voice came from beside him, and Li Changzhou had no choice but to hold back.
"Sorry." The lean man turned and walked away, while the four men stared at the tail on his rear end.
"A rabbit?" Yaochi asked to herself.
“A rabbit’s tail isn’t that short, so it could be a dog… or a wolf.” Li Qianxia wasn’t sure either.
Just as Li Changzhou was about to remove Yaochi's hand, Yaochi removed it herself.
A master, an absolute master!
Not only did she see through his actions, but she also countered with a feigned retreat – having always been interested in Li Changzhou, she suddenly took her hand away to make Li Changzhou pay attention.
