"How is it?" The two female college students stared at Li Changzhou.
They were asking about the effects of upgrading the white ID card.
“Two attribute points, one point higher, means the black mist will increase,” Li Changzhou replied, allocating all the attribute points to agility.
[Player's 'Agility' attribute has been detected as maxed out. Has the limit been exceeded?]
(no)
"Where's the black mist?" Yang Qinglan asked.
"I'll give it a try." Li Changzhou closed his eyes—he had succeeded with his eyes closed last time at the Science and Technology Building.
The humanoid black mist stood at the tip of the platform, its black mist billowing and its "feet" never touching the ground, creating an opening scene of a demon from another world preparing to break out of its lair and unleash a bloodbath upon the human world.
“No way.” Li Changzhou opened his eyes. “He’s ignoring me. Ha, this guy has a temper, and he’s pretty rebellious.”
"Dude? Dude, could he be yourself?"
"Good! You have backbone. I will never obey anyone's orders. That's the kind of man I am!"
"Qianxia, let's start exchanging."
"Hmm, Qinglan, what do you want to exchange for?"
"Hello?"
The experiment wasn't over yet, and Li Changzhou tried to grab the skill for Li Qianxia again.
When he conceived the idea of giving "Thunder Roar" to Li Qianxia, Li Qianxia, as the first living being besides Li Changzhou, witnessed the black mist firsthand.
The platform was small and mostly occupied by buses. A thick black mist stood behind Li Changzhou, reaching out to grab the roaring monkey's identity card.
Li Qianxia forgot to breathe. The two-and-a-half-meter-long black mist filled her entire field of vision, making the sky seem dark.
The rolling wisps of black mist were like scalpels, peeling away her flesh piece by piece. She felt as if everything she had was about to be taken away and swallowed by the black mist.
A chilling, creepy feeling crept up her tailbone.
"It's a success." I heard my brother's voice from far away.
“Unfortunately,” he added, “it’s downgraded by one level.”
“And C, not bad.” After Yang Qinglan finished speaking, she suddenly realized something was wrong and looked at her.
"Qianxia?" She looked at her in confusion, her voice seeming to come from the water.
"What's wrong?" The older brother leaned closer, his expression gradually changing from joy and smugness to solemnity and seriousness.
He grabbed her shoulders with both hands: "Qianxia! Qianxia!"
He called out again and again, and Li Qianxia wanted to respond, but it felt like she had fallen into the sea, and water would pour in if she opened her mouth.
Her brother's face was full of worry, and Li Qianxia felt she should speak up quickly to reassure him, but she was also in a relaxed mood and didn't care about anything.
My gaze drifted unconsciously, and suddenly I saw a splash of blood. My brother's left arm, which I had finally managed to stop bleeding from, was bleeding again.
Li Qianxia suddenly woke up and struggled out of the water. The roar of the Nu River hit her ears with a loud "bang," as if it had crashed into a rock.
An overwhelming sense of nausea and discomfort washed over her, causing her body to tremble uncontrollably and her mouth to utter unconscious groans.
Li Changzhou quickly helped her up, sat down on the ground with his legs to the side, and carefully held her, letting her lie down.
"Qianxia, what's wrong?" He suppressed his anxiety and tried to ask softly.
Li Qianxia was panting heavily.
She gazed at the blue sky above the canyon, slowly turned her head, and tightly gripped Li Changzhou's shirt with both hands, murmuring, "Brother..."
"It's okay, I'm here." Li Changzhou hugged her tighter, pressing his face against her cold forehead, which was covered in cold sweat.
He felt an indescribable panic in his heart. He had never felt so helpless and desperate in all the life-and-death crises he had experienced.
His younger sister had been with him since birth and was his only family member in the world.
What's the point of studying law and opening a firm if she's gone? What's the use of having lots of money and the best houses? Even if she acquires all the skills and becomes invincible, what good will it do?
"elder brother....."
Li Changzhou put his ear to her mouth.
"Your...your arm is bleeding."
"Ugh, it hurts so much." Li Changzhou forced a smile and wiped away the tears that flowed from the corners of her eyes due to the pain.
Yang Qinglan knelt to one side, holding Li Qianxia's cold, trembling little hand, her obsidian-like eyes filled with worry.
Li Qianxia rested for a while before she finally recovered.
Then, as if nothing had happened, she immediately shouted with great enthusiasm, "No more! Never again! I'll never be greedy again! I'll spend money to buy skills!"
After confirming that his sister was really alright, Li Changzhou couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"Do you want it?" he asked Yang Qinglan. "'High-Speed Movement' and 'Aerial Flight' are both pretty good."
"You can use this as a skill in the future. When you encounter an enemy, use this skill on them first," Yang Qinglan said.
