"This is far from the limit. In every place that can be seen, in every bit of darkness, there must be even more stars and seas larger than the Milky Way!"
"And these are just a small part of the vast universe."
"Gulp!" Emperor Jiajing swallowed hard. He had difficulty breathing and even began to feel dizzy.
He felt so insignificant!
Lost in thought, he heard Li Changzhou's voice again, ethereal as if it were from heaven:
"After Your Majesty enters the Dao, there will come a day when you will lose interest in the power and beauty around you. At that time, why not travel along a corner of the starry sky and see what kind of life exists in this vast universe, what these life forms look like, what they eat, and what their social customs are like?"
Emperor Jiajing pondered everything Li Changzhou had said.
"Even immortality seems too short for this one thing alone."
Li Changzhou originally intended to comfort the Jiajing Emperor, describing the magnificent splendor of immortality to dispel his thoughts of backing down at the last minute, but as he spoke, he himself became moved.
If we could live forever, together with Qinglan and my sister, we could explore planet after planet, galaxy after galaxy. Life would probably never be boring.
Explore a harsh planet, settle on a beautiful planet for a hundred years, and taste all kinds of alien food, whether delicious or just so-so.
The Jiajing Emperor looked at Li Changzhou and saw in his eyes the longing for immortality and the fascination with the distant starry sky.
How could such a person possibly have any worldly rights!
He suddenly sighed and placed his hand on the railing.
"Your Majesty?" Li Changzhou looked at him in confusion.
"I..." Emperor Jiajing hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.
He gazed at the starry sky, and as the cold wind blew, the stars seemed as if they might fall at any moment. He felt excited, bewildered, happy, and hopeful.
It was as if, the moment he closed his eyes, he entered the scene described by Li Changzhou, roaming freely and unrestrainedly among the stars.
"...Master Li," the Jiajing Emperor spoke again, "the road ahead is fraught with danger. Although I am the ruler of the country, I can only wish you a smooth journey and that you may attain immortality."
Li Changzhou was overjoyed and said with a smile, "Thank you, Your Majesty. I also wish Your Majesty a smooth journey. If you become an immortal in the future, one day we will meet again on a star in the universe."
"Alright! It's a deal!" Emperor Jiajing slammed his hand on the railing, then said in a deep voice, "Be careful of Tao Zhongwen; this man intends to harm you."
Li Changzhou laughed heartily upon hearing this: "Who in the world dares to call themselves a giant? I am the only true dragon in the immortal path! What is Tao Zhongwen compared to me!"
After saying that, he let out a long, loud cry.
"Your Majesty, light the lamp!"
Emperor Jiajing, full of fighting spirit, seemed to be setting sail at sea. He lit the lantern and hung it at the very top of the Five-Colored Lantern Mountain.
With a whoosh, the wind blew through the fire, as if adding the finishing touch to a painting, and all the lights on the Five-Colored Lamp Mountain seemed to come alive.
This is not a mountain of lights at all; it looks more like a five-colored altar.
Throughout the Ming Dynasty, every city, every village, and all the lanterns lit on this Lantern Festival flew into the sky.
"hold head high!"
A dragon's roar, as loud as thunder, resounded over the capital.
Emperor Jiajing's hair and beard flew wildly, and a golden dragon aura rose from his body, as if he were being carried up to the heavens!
The Emerald Bee Sword was drawn.
"Slash!" With Li Changzhou's roar, emerald light swirled and danced on the dragon's body.
The golden dragon howled and shattered into five pieces.
In the void, dozens of figures rushed out, each carrying an aura of world-destroying power.
Under such overwhelming force, Emperor Jiajing could hardly breathe, feeling as if every bone in his body was being crushed.
He saw Tao Zhongwen, Duan Chaoyong, Gu Kexue, Sheng Duanming, Lan Daoxing, Lan Tianyu, Li Xidao... These Taoists who usually fawned over him seemed to press down on him like mountains.
Yang Qinglan, Li Qianxia, and Yaochi were prepared and rushed to the front. According to the plan, each of them seized a section of the dragon vein.
"Let's go!" Yaochi cast a talisman.
A rainbow of colors enveloped them, and the three of them transformed into a rainbow and flew away.
"Where do you think you're going! Hand over the dragon vein!" Several loud shouts shook the entire capital, and more than a dozen streaks of light followed the three of them.
Tao Zhongwen flicked his whisk, and the Jiajing Emperor's breathing became smooth.
"Your Majesty!" Tao Zhongwen shouted.
The Jiajing Emperor remained unmoved.
Li Changzhou spread his hands and grabbed the small golden dragon that had been transformed from the dragon's head, stuffing it into the golden crown in his hand.
The five-colored true fire burned, completing the final step of the golden crown process.
"Your Majesty, I have fulfilled my promise to you. However, others will still target you, so please be extremely careful."
His body swayed back and forth, but the Jiajing Emperor steadied himself and found himself back on the Meridian Gate, where five-colored lanterns burned fiercely before his eyes like pillars of fire.
"Your Majesty! Your Majesty is here!" A member of the Imperial Guards spotted him.
Huang Jin and his civil and military officials rushed over.
"His Majesty!"
"Get out of the way!" The Jiajing Emperor, wearing a golden crown, pushed aside the crowd and looked up at the Five-Colored Lantern Mountain.
The dragon vein has split into five parts, and even if Emperor Jiajing were standing here, he could not stop these cultivators from fighting each other.
Above the mountain of lamps, magical powers clashed like smoke and the sea.
The remaining section of the dragon vein transformed into a golden dragon struggled and roared amidst the magical power, erecting a small golden barrier to prevent the magical power from engulfing it.
No one dared to rush forward; under the combined attack of the crowd, anyone who went in would die.
"Kill the Demon Emperor first!"
"If the Demon Emperor isn't eliminated, neither of us will have a chance!"
"I've sealed off the space; he can't escape!"
"Escape? You might escape now, but can you escape my calamity?" Li Changzhou laughed loudly. "Today I'm going to wreak havoc! Let's see who dares to become my calamity!"
