Li Changzhou left in a hurry, but traveled very slowly. If he went too fast, he might not run into the three people. He also needed time to think.
[The body of Tang Sanzang might not be able to be hidden for two days.] Guanyin reminded him that it was not yet time for everything to be settled.
Tang Sanzang's body was not taken away, nor could it be taken away.
Even Sun Wukong couldn't carry the meat that grants immortality, so how could he possibly do it?
Moreover, Tang Sanzang is the key to the journey to the West. If Li Changzhou takes the corpse away, countless gods will immediately jump out to help Sun Wukong.
If they don't bring them, for example, if they hide the bodies in the Tongtian River now, the gods will take it as a test for Tang Sanzang and his disciples.
Li Changzhou had to find the right balance; if he went too low, he wouldn't be able to catch Tang Sanzang, and if he went too high, he would be besieged by all the gods and Buddhas.
"Let's drag this out as long as possible," Li Changzhou said. "It's not what I planned. I intended to force Sun Wukong away, and two days would pass in the blink of an eye. Who knew Tang Sanzang would die?"
This is destiny, something beyond human power to defy.
What is this talk of destiny, fate, or destiny? Li Changzhou has never believed in such things.
It wasn't that he was going against the will of Heaven, nor was he looking down on God. He simply believed that even if there was such a thing as "fate" in the world, it was ultimately up to human effort to achieve anything.
Guanyin was a good teacher, but Li Changzhou didn't listen to her in everything. He was also used to thinking for himself and making his own decisions.
"What do you plan to do now?" Guanyin asked him.
[Find a way to borrow the river's eye, but don't actually do it. Go back and have Sun Wukong come and borrow it.]
His round trip took him a whole day;
By the time Sun Wukong borrowed the river's eye, Tang Sanzang's body had already been moved and was hiding at the bottom of the river, confronting Sun Wukong. If they could hold out for another day, the mission would be complete.
Li Changzhou caught up with the three, and after a brief conversation, they naturally refused to lend him the river eye.
He went downstream and returned to the Tongtian River, then anxiously entered the Water Turtle's residence.
"Monster, watch your move!"
The nine-toothed rake and the demon-subduing pestle fell together.
Li Changzhou was taken aback and dodged in a fluster, hurriedly shouting, "Fellow Daoists, it's me!"
"Old Pig, you're the one I'm going to kill!" The Nine-Toothed Rake was swung, and nine nail-like gusts of energy pierced through the air.
Sha Wujing also swung his demon-subduing pestle with a crescent-shaped force.
As expected of Marshal Tianpeng and General Juanlian, despite being immortals, they did not tear the Tongtian River apart even when they went all out. Their magical power was almost solidified, with not a single bit wasted.
Li Changzhou dodged again, and in just one round, his long hair, which was tied up in the fragrant leaf crown, was already disheveled.
It wasn't until the force of the nail and the power of the crescent moon exploded in the distance that the power of the immortal was revealed, and the entire Tongtian River trembled.
As the aftershocks spread, the river trembled slightly, and then, with a loud "bang!", the vast river surface boiled as if a pot lid had been blown open.
As Li Changzhou dodged to a great distance, he shouted, "Brother Daoist, what are you doing! Stop it!"
Pigsy, carrying his nine-toothed rake, chuckled smugly, "Trying to fool your grandpa Pig? You brat, everyone's already told us your tricks! You dared to kill my master? Today, I'll chisel nine holes in your head!"
"Monster, prepare to die!" Sha Wujing charged forward, brandishing his demon-subduing staff.
Li Changzhou's anxious expression changed, his face darkened, and with a flick of his arm, the Water Element True Blade was drawn.
Peng!
The azure-blue real sword and the vajra clashed together.
Sha Wujing's face turned pale and then red. "Pfft!" He spat out a mouthful of blood and flew backwards for over a hundred meters.
Li Changzhou also staggered back about ten meters, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, his eyes filled with ferocity.
Before he could catch his breath, Pigsy swung his nine-toothed rake and charged at his face.
Li Changzhou quickly raised his right arm to brace against the rake.
"ha!"
With a loud shout, Pigsy pressed down with his arms, which were full of strength, and Li Changzhou stumbled and fell like a pillar about to collapse.
The foundation of the water turtle's dwelling beneath his feet collapsed instantly, and foul-smelling silt surged up.
The bubbles were densely packed like a forest, and from within them, Sha Wujing (a character from Journey to the West) shot up like a torpedo.
The white skull-wrapped vajra, carrying a chilling wind and malevolent energy, slashed towards Li Changzhou's waist.
With a muffled boom, Li Changzhou raised his other arm, wielding two Water Element True Blades to clash with Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The river water bursts open from time to time, surging up huge waves as big as mountains.
Sun Wukong rode a cloud close to the river surface, shading his eyes with his left hand as he stared intently at the blue light rippling at the bottom of the river, while holding his golden cudgel in his right hand, waiting for the monster to come up so he could finish him off with one blow.
Soon, the monster disappeared, and Pigsy and Sandy parted the river and came ashore.
Sha Wujing looked pale, clearly injured; Zhu Bajie was panting heavily, not injured, but his magical power was greatly depleted.
"Junior brothers, where is that monster?" Sun Wukong asked hurriedly.
Pigsy waved his sleeves, mouth agape, too tired to speak.
Sha Wujing replied, "Eldest brother, that monster has a powerful water magic technique. Even if my second brother and I join forces, we can only fight him to a draw."
Sun Wukong was not worried at all. Instead, he smiled and said, "Just as I expected, if this little demon were truly capable, he wouldn't resort to such petty tricks."
He then said, "Brother Bajie and Brother Sha, I'd like to trouble you two to go down there again, fight him for a few hundred rounds, pretend you're no match for him, lure him back up, and I'll wait on the shore. I guarantee I'll kill him with one blow."
"No, no!" Pigsy said, lying down on the shore. "You go yourself, I'm too tired to walk!"
"Bajie, Bajie." Sun Wukong grinned and massaged Zhu Bajie's shoulders and legs.
After Pigsy and Sandy left, the disheveled Li Changzhou tossed his long, messy hair behind him and looked calm and peaceful.
