Chapter 381 The Death of Tang Sanzang

As Yang Qinglan and his two companions entered the Landscape and Civilization Map, changes began to occur in the human world.

After dealing with the disciples of the Celestial Venerable, Li Changzhou turned around and returned to the bottom of the river.

The water demon, kneeling on the ground for what seemed like the umpteenth time, was speechless.

[Cultivators throughout the world are roughly divided into the Three Religions Immortal Sects, the Heavenly Court Orthodox Sect, the major Buddhist sects, and minor sects such as the Three Mountains and the Five Villages Temple.] During this time, Guanyin gave Li Changzhou a simple introduction to the forces of the primordial world.

"What am I in the primordial world?" Li Changzhou asked.

[The Three Realms are watching.] Guanyin said, [The primordial energy was abundant, its radiance like the sea. Even first-class immortals are still immortal beings; as long as they don't die young, they will surely become earth immortals, living as long as the earth itself. But after the Investiture of the Gods, the Heavenly Dao changed, making immortality difficult, especially for first-class immortals. Like Bai Suzhen, her thousand years of cultivation were destined to be in vain. But you are not only first-class, but also a 'Supreme Immortal,' cultivating both body and spirit, with boundless abilities—a figure like the Buddha.]

To be compared to Buddha by a Bodhisattva was truly an eye-opener for Li Changzhou.

Looking at Li Changzhou, Guanyin felt a sense of satisfaction, like the flowers and plants on her balcony were very healthy. She wished she could check on them every day and felt a great sense of accomplishment—Li Changzhou's success today was also thanks to her, Guanyin.

It's not just about one achievement.

Visualizing the black mist, the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts, the binding spell, and so on, Li Changzhou had already decided that when Guanyin reincarnates, he will use all his resources to repay her kindness.

As for being reborn as his child...

"Um?"

Li Changzhou looked up, gazing at the river surface across the cave and the water.

"Has Tang Sanzang crossed the river?" Guanyin asked.

Chenjiazhuang may be nice, but how can it compare to obtaining the true scriptures and returning to Jambudvipa to see the Tang Emperor sooner?

Um?

Well... Tang Sanzang wasn't entirely devoted to the Tang Emperor; there was still a place in his heart that he would forever dedicate to the Buddha.

So, after staying in Chenjiazhuang for two days, he resolutely set off to cross the river.

The Chen brothers offered Tang Sanzang money and clothes, but he refused them all, only taking the leftovers from that day's meal and some steamed buns.

The four travelers headed to the Tongtian River again, ready to face the wide river that even the most discerning eyes could not see the other side of.

"Master, look! There's a boat!" Sha Wujing pointed to the riverbank.

Dozens of people were boarding the boats on the shore; there were four or five boats in total.

Sun Wukong looked them over carefully and found that they were all ordinary people, which made him a little puzzled.

"Quick! Quick!" Tang Sanzang was overjoyed. He even forgot to ride the white dragon horse, picked up the hem of his monk's robe, and quickly walked forward.

"Boatman! Please wait a moment!" he called out as he walked.

"Full! Full!" The boatman kicked the bank and steered the boat away from the riverbank.

When the four of them reached the shore, the boat was already more than 20 meters away from the shore and was gradually moving away.

"What should we do!" Tang Sanzang stamped his feet.

"Master, it's all that monkey's fault! He's so slow and clumsy, he's not carrying anything, and he's not even as fast as me!" Pigsy immediately said.

The already anxious Tang Sanzang, encouraged by Zhu Bajie, began to feel a growing resentment towards Sun Wukong.

"Wukong, since you have the ability to fly, why didn't you stop the boatman just now!"

"That's right! Didn't you see that Master, despite being only a mortal, risked his life to stop the boat?" Pigsy said.

“Yes, Senior Brother,” Sha Wujing chimed in.

Sun Wukong grabbed Zhu Bajie by the ear and said to Tang Sanzang with a smile:

“Master, as the saying goes, Buddha saves those who are destined. If we are destined, we can board this ship even without chasing after it. If we are not destined... Master, look how many times I have been to the Western Paradise, but Buddha has never given me the true scriptures.”

"You mean even Master isn't destined to be here... Ah! Monkey, let go! Let go! My ears, you old pig!"

Ignoring Pigsy's squeals, Sun Wukong continued to say to Tang Sanzang, "Guanyin personally selected Master to go to the Western Paradise to retrieve the scriptures. Master is naturally destined, so there must be a way to cross the Tongtian River."

Tang Sanzang's temper softened slightly.

He nodded and said, "Wukong is right. I was just too impatient. Well then, let's wait here until the next ship docks and we can get on as soon as possible."

He found a rock to sit on and made up his mind that even if the next ship didn't arrive until the day after tomorrow, he wouldn't leave and would spend the night there.

Sun Wukong's eyes darted around, wondering if leaving the four of them there was actually a scheme by the Great King Linggan.

"Master, please wait here. I'll make another preparation!"

"What preparations?" Tang Sanzang asked curiously.

Sun Wukong laughed and said, "Since it was Guanyin Bodhisattva who sent you to the Western Paradise, you should naturally go to her if you have any trouble. Master, please sit for a while. Bajie and Sha Wujing, you two keep an eye on Master. I'll be right back."

As he spoke, he released Pigsy's ear, pulled out the golden cudgel from it, drew a circle on the spot, and instructed Tang Sanzang not to step out of the circle, saying that he would be back in the time it takes to drink a cup of tea.

Then it rose into the clouds and somersaulted towards the South China Sea.

Li Changzhou never expected that such a monkey would call for reinforcements at the slightest provocation.

Unfortunately, Sun Wukong thought of Guanyin Bodhisattva (the compassionate and merciful Guanyin Bodhisattva of Mount Putuo in the South China Sea) when he thought of the "Great King of Inspiration," but he did not expect that the Bodhisattva had gone to Yaochi.

As for Yaochi, males are now prohibited from entering.

If Tang Sanzang had arrived a little earlier, he would have been able to board the ship safely.

Every sip and every bite is unpredictable, and Li Changzhou felt an endless sense of excitement at the struggle against heaven and man.

Not long after Sun Wukong left, faint singing could be heard from the river.

Tang Sanzang was waiting for the boat, and upon hearing the sound, he immediately looked over.

A small black dot drew closer and closer, and a young woman with slightly dark skin, a slender figure, and braided hair rowed a boat from the other side of the river.

A yellow dog stood imposingly at the bow of the boat.
