There are eighteen famous Arhats in Buddhism, and Ji Gong is the Arhat who subdues dragons.
You can roughly tell what kind of person someone is just by their name. To be able to use "Dragon Subduer" as one's title shows that one has boundless magical power and is skilled at subduing dragons and demons.
Simply put, it means being able to fight and get into combat.
It was around 10 a.m. Lin'an City was pitch black, with occasional flashes of lightning that shone like tree branches across the sky, turning the world into a blinding white. In the white light, raindrops on the lake surface resembled loose pearls.
When the white light faded, a thunderous roar could be heard, as if a chariot of a god had passed through the sky.
In this apocalyptic scene, two beams of Buddha's light pierced through the heavens and earth, blasting two holes in the dark clouds.
"Thus have I heard: At one time, Bhagavan entered into the great treasury of supernatural powers and light, attaining samadhi, where all the radiant light of the Tathagatas abided..."
The golden gong resounded, the wooden fish cried out to heaven, and Buddhist chants echoed.
Countless golden scriptures floated in the Buddha's light, looking from a distance like two giant scripture pillars.
"Sister!" Xiaoqing cried out in pain, the Buddhist chanting flooding her mind and heart, almost melting her away.
Bai Suzhen quickly grabbed her hand and transferred her magic power to her. Xiaoqing then gasped for breath as if she had crawled out of the water.
Both of them stared at the sky, still shaken.
The monks in Lingyin Temple and Jingci Temple stood in layers, forming a barrier, and two beams of Buddha light slowly spread out, seemingly intending to dispel the dark clouds. Half of West Lake was already bathed in sunlight, and the sky was azure.
Ruyi lay in Yang Qinglan's flawless white palm. She gently blew on Ruyi, and the dark clouds in the sky instantly became ten times thicker. The rain was no longer rain, but simply turned into a waterfall.
With a whoosh, the waters of West Lake surged and roared, flooding most of Lin'an City.
If it hadn't been for three days of torrential rain, the people would have been terrified and fled long ago, resulting in widespread devastation and floating corpses.
The two beams of Buddha light were compressed to the size of hair, struggling to hold on between heaven and earth.
"Amitabha."
The clouds dispersed, the fog lifted, and the sky cleared. After three days and three nights of darkness, the city of Lin'an was bathed in sunshine following a Buddhist chant.
In this bright spring sunshine, the peaks of Lingyin Temple and Jingci Temple each shimmer with a touch of Buddhist light.
“Lingyin Temple should be where the monk Ji Gong is, and Jingci Temple… is it a big bell? Is the bell also an Arhat?” Li Qianxia asked curiously.
when! !
The bell tolled loudly, swirling and growing larger, until it once again obscured the sky above West Lake.
Everyone looked up and saw that the bell was covered with scriptures. In the next instant, the mountain-sized bell was covered.
The lake water surged and churned amidst the air currents. Li Changzhou flicked his sleeve, and a wisp of Earth Element True Light flew out.
The earth element's true light swells with the wind, spreading out like apricot-yellow cloth.
For every inch the Earth Element True Light grows, the Buddha Bell grows a foot; neither yields to the other, neither retreating an inch.
"Let's see which is more powerful, the Buddha Bell or the Breath of Earth," Li Changzhou said with a smile, pouring himself a glass of wine and letting the two contend.
The true light of the Earth element enveloped most of Lin'an City, and the entire city was shrouded in the Buddha's bell. The two sides were still locked in a fierce struggle.
Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing were filled with anxiety. Whether it was the mysterious and unpredictable Earth Element True Light or the infinitely powerful Buddha Bell, once it fell, the entire city of Lin'an would be destroyed.
“Amitabha, since you benefactors have come for me, why make the people of the city suffer?”
The monk Ji Gong had two faces: one was a mad beggar who played around in the world, and the other was the true form of the Arhat who subdued dragons.
At this moment, he was three zhang tall, his whole body radiant with golden light, revealing his true form as an Arhat.
The Buddhist bell shrank and circled back to Jingci Temple. The color of the Earth Element True Light faded until it disappeared. The scene that had almost destroyed Lin'an City vanished like a dream.
“It’s not us who are causing the people to suffer, it’s you, Daoji,” Li Changzhou said as he got up and walked to the bow of the boat, looking towards Lingyin Temple in the northern mountains. “If you had come out earlier, there wouldn’t have been this three-day and three-night downpour. Fortunately, it’s not too late. Arhat who subdues dragons, if you surrender now, I guarantee that there will only be three days and three nights of downpour in Lin’an City, and there will be no more storms or dangers.”
The two were on West Lake and on North Mountain, yet it was as if they were talking face to face, their voices resounding through the sky.
"This humble monk is the Arhat who subdues dragons, who only knows how to subdue demons and eliminate evil, and does not know how to bow down to demons."
"You call yourself an Arhat? Don't you even understand the principle of Buddha cutting off his own flesh to feed an eagle?"
"If you misinterpret Buddhism, who will go to hell if not you?" The Arhat Subduing Dragon raised his fist.
hold head high! !
Accompanied by a stirring and uplifting dragon roar, a golden celestial dragon instantly filled the sky and earth, its tail still on the arm of the Arhat Subduing Dragon, its head, the size of a mountain, already biting towards Li Changzhou.
"I also have a dragon, let's see who the real dragon is!" Li Changzhou laughed heartily, his blood and energy surging outwards, soaring into the sky.
"Aww!!"
The white azure dragon swooped down from the clouds and bit the golden celestial dragon at its vital spot.
The dragon roared in pain and twisted its body to bite back. The two enormous dragons fought fiercely between heaven and earth, turning the clouds and rain upside down.
The Arhat Subduing Dragon raised his hand and threw another punch.
Roar! Another golden dragon!
Roar!! Eight green tigers leaped out from behind Li Changzhou, one dragon and one tiger colliding head-on.
Peng!
West Lake almost overturned like a pot, and the surrounding mountains and valleys trembled like piled-up blocks.
"You think you can send me to hell with this little skill? You're still lacking..."
Before Li Changzhou could finish speaking, the Arhat Subduing Dragon descended from Lingyin Temple, each step a dragon, and it took him ten steps to reach West Lake.
Ten dragons completely surrounded the 6.38 square kilometers of West Lake!
The Arhat Subduing Dragon raised his hand and pressed down on Li Changzhou. Ten heavenly dragons were emanating from between his fingers. If this palm were placed on a launched rocket, it would be enough to forcefully push the ignited rocket back to the ground from its launch position.
