Chapter 19

Chapter 19

The atmosphere in the infirmary was exceptionally quiet.

The elk looked like he was in a state of panic, staring at the strange boy in front of him, and his mind kept replaying the words his boss had just said.

"Help him check his body. He suddenly woke up yesterday and turned into a human."

"I've awakened and become a human..."

"I became a human..."

"people……"

“…”

The kitten just sat obediently on the bench in front of the elk, staring at him with its beautiful blue eyes without blinking.

Those eyes were so clear, as if questioning why he hadn't helped him check his body yet.

"Elk, have you seen enough?" Yan Xuanjin's face was sullen, his eyes fixed on the elk. It was simply that the elk was too shocked. Under normal circumstances, a look like that from Yan Xuanjin would have sent it running eight hundred miles away.

“Ahem…”

Milu finally understood the dozen or so words Yan Xuanjin said. He took out a detector that had not been used for a long time from the cabinet and stuck several patch probes on the kitten.

"Um, boss..." After putting the instrument on the kitten, the elk stood up and looked at Yan Xuanjin hesitantly, "Do you want to step aside?" After all, the kitten was needed to release the guide. If he was provoked and did something against his will... he couldn't stop him.

Yan Xuanjin's already ugly face became even darker, but he still left the infirmary reluctantly, closed the door and stood guard outside.

The elk breathed a sigh of relief. Turning to see the boy, who was curiously and nervously looking around, he met his jewel-like blue eyes and couldn't help but comfort him. Then he said, "Once you see the green light on the instrument, try your best to release all the guide elements you can control. When the instrument beeps, you can stop. Do you understand?"

"Um."

Even after becoming a human, the boy still retained some of the habits of a cat, and nodded heavily like a small animal.

My mom...

So good...

Elk patted his chest, pressed the button of the instrument, and said, "Let's start."

The red light on the detector came on, flashed twice, and then turned green.

The kitten then cooperated and released its own guide element. In an instant, the whole room was filled with a very warm smell, as if it was wrapped in clean cotton wool, soft and comfortable.

The elk sat not far away, observing the boy's condition at all times.

As time passed, the concentration of the guiding element in the room became higher and higher. It could no longer be described as warm, but rather as an unbearable and anxious burning sensation.

Elk stood up uncomfortably. The temperature in the room did not rise, but he could not stop sweating.

In principle, he couldn't interrupt the boy. The instrument didn't sound a stop signal, which meant that the boy's guiding instinct hadn't yet fully come into play—but the elk was about to be overwhelmed.

"Stop, stop." The elk stopped the boy who was still releasing his guiding spirit wantonly.

The kitten paused and immediately withdrew his hand. Only then did he realize that something was wrong with the elk.

"What's wrong with you?" He was sitting on a stool with probes stuck all over his body and unable to move, so he could only watch the sweaty Elk slowly walk towards him and take off the patches on his body one by one.

“…It’s okay.” After picking the elk, he leaned against the table to relax, then went outside to call in Yan Xuanjin who had been waiting for a long time.

Yan Xuanjin was getting impatient and was about to ask what was going on the moment the door opened - then he saw the elk, who was sweating profusely and looked exhausted, and the young boy who was sitting quietly and obediently on a stool.

"What's going on?" Yan Xuanjin frowned, walked into the infirmary and closed the door.

...Is there something wrong with the base's temperature control system today? Why is it so hot?

This was the only thought in Yan Xuanjin's mind before he heard Milu describe what had just happened.
