Chapter 37 Just cry if you want to! Mom will comfort you.
She was afraid of forgetting her mother; in fact, she was almost forgetting what her mother looked like.
But the exquisite dice were a gift from her mother, and she couldn't possibly lose them.
Madam Qian immediately realized that besides the ten or so taels of silver she had given him, the baby only had a die on him.
She's definitely talking about that die!
"Think quickly, where was the last time you touched the dice?" Madam Qian knew that the little dumpling valued that exquisite dice very much.
Before, when the baby slept at night, he would hold the die tightly, and even when taking a bath, he wouldn't let go.
Little Su Bao was so anxious that tears streamed down her face, but she tried her best to hold them back. She thought for a long time and finally remembered that it must have disappeared when she was catching the beggar.
There were so many people over there, what if someone picked them up...?
Ms. Qian was somewhat worried, but ultimately didn't say it aloud.
"Second son, you go find the county magistrate. I'll take Xiao Su Bao to the place where we threw the dice earlier," Qian Shi said to Tang Qi.
Tang Qi and the others didn't know what kind of dice it was, but Wang Xiuer and Sun Cuihua did.
For some reason, I remembered the look of heartache in Sun Cuihua's eyes when she looked at Xiao Su Bao while giving the little dumpling a bath.
The baby's body was covered in wounds, on his chest and back, there wasn't a single patch of healthy flesh.
Even someone as carefree as Wang Xiuer was moved to tears when she saw these things.
Can you imagine a four-and-a-half-year-old toddler with a long, centipede-like scar running from his chest to his stomach?
What had that frail body gone through?
They cannot imagine, or even want to think about, those things.
Little Su Bao is so pitiful, so they want to love this child even more.
Seeing Xiao Su Bao shed tears, Wang Xiuer immediately said, "Let's go back and look for her!"
After saying that, she took the lead and jogged towards the entrance of the fabric shop.
The Qian family followed closely behind.
Tang Qi then went back to Fu Lin, hoping he could ask him for help.
Over here, Xiao Su Bao and the others ran back to the entrance of the fabric shop. There was no one to be seen here anymore. Because of the flower-picking incident, there were hardly any locals around.
"Oh, you gentlemen are back! Do you still want the fabric you ordered earlier?" the shopkeeper hurriedly asked.
Then the Qian family realized that they had forgotten to take the fabric with them.
Madam Qian nodded, holding Xiao Su Bao in her arms, and said to the shopkeeper, "Shopkeeper, after we left, did anyone else come by?"
"That's all. Everyone went to see the play with you!" the shopkeeper said with a distressed expression.
Today is market day, and their business should have been booming, but this unexpected incident happened.
"Thank you!" Mrs. Qian immediately expressed her gratitude.
She went to the fabric shop and packed up all the fabrics.
Wait a bit before taking it away.
Xiao Su Bao and the Tang family's three treasures are all outside searching for that die.
"Little Aunt, what do your things look like?" Tang Dabao asked Xiao Subao.
None of them had ever seen Xiao Su Bao's exquisite dice, and had no idea what it looked like.
"It's a die, with a red bean inside and a white jade die on the outside..." The little dumpling gestured the size of the die as she spoke to them.
Wang Xiuer and Sun Cuihua knew each other, so they started looking for each other right away.
However, they searched everywhere but couldn't find it.
Little Su Bao was almost crying, but she tried her best to hold it in!
She can't cause trouble for others!
She tried so hard to say it was okay, but she just couldn't get the words out!
She never cried, made a fuss, or spoke before; she was perfectly fine before!
But why do I feel like crying now? Why isn't she strong anymore?
The little baby didn't understand. When she saw Qian Shi come out, she could no longer hold back her sadness. She rushed into Qian Shi's arms and burst into tears.
She cried more times at the Tang family than she had in all the years she lived at the Lan family's house.
She tried; she wanted to be more sensible!
"No... then... then... forget it..." She wanted to say, "Forget it!"
I wanted to say it's okay!
Little Su Bao was sobbing, but she still wanted to smile for them and pretend that nothing was wrong.
She tried to smile, but her eyes wouldn't cooperate!
She cannot cry, cannot be driven away, cannot be disliked.
Her mother told her to live well and wait for her father to come back!
She wanted to live, even though living was tiring, and even though she missed her mother terribly.
It's not so much that she couldn't find the exquisite dice, but rather that she missed her mother!
After all, she's only a four-and-a-half-year-old child!
Qian felt a lump in her throat; how could this child be so heartbreaking?
Mrs. Qian patted Xiao Su Bao's back and coaxed her gently, "Good child, good child, cry if you want to cry, make a fuss if you want to make a fuss!"
“Your mother is here. If you don’t feel like laughing, then don’t. You are my precious darling. It’s okay if you’re sad. If you want to cry, then cry! I’ll comfort you!” Madam Qian coaxed softly.
The last three words seemed to be some kind of signal.
Little Su Bao couldn't hold back any longer and burst into tears.
She cried so hard, her voice hoarse and heartbroken, tears streaming down her face.
Is she someone who has someone protecting her?
Can she cry in her mother's arms now?
Does this mean she'll have to smile even when she's clearly sad from now on?
Xiao Su Bao's mental defenses suddenly crumbled.
Sun Cuihua wiped her eyes and gently patted Xiao Su Bao's back. What had this child been through?
Wang Xiuer pursed her lips. She rarely cried, but her voice was a little hoarse.
“Little Su Bao, I feel like crying every time you cry. No, Mom, please hold me and comfort me, just like you would hold your little sister!” Wang Xiuer came over and buried her head in Qian Shi’s arms.
Qian was half a head shorter than Wang Xiuer, and when this head suddenly popped into her arms, Qian was immediately flustered.
The next instant, her big hand appeared, and she pushed Wang Xiuer away with disgust!
She ruined the perfect atmosphere!
Qian wiped away her tears and looked at Wang Xiuer with annoyance: "If you want to cry, stay away from me!"
Wang Xiuer glanced at the Qian family with a pitiful expression, and then took several steps back.
Little Su Bao looked at Wang Xiuer with sobs, then at her mother.
"It's alright, our little Su Bao can cry if she wants to! Don't pay any attention to that silly second sister-in-law!" Madam Qian said gently to the little Su Bao.
The little dumpling looked at her mother, then at her pitiful second sister-in-law. She wiped away her tears, and a glimmer of light seemed to appear in her eyes.
"Grandma, look, what's this?" Just then, a voice came.
Tang Sanbao came running over, holding something in his hand.
