Chapter 108 Breaking the Door

At four in the morning, at dawn, when most people were sleeping the deepest, the operation to retake Stormwind Fortress began.

Some of the First Legion soldiers, Stormwind City Defense Force and Royal Knights who had been summoned long ago gathered in front of Stormwind Fortress. When they first received this ridiculous order, these soldiers suspected that they had heard it wrong. However, after Claudia, Marshal Windsor and others gave speeches, most of them accepted the statement that the king was controlled by dark magic and vowed to participate in this operation.

This was partly due to the high prestige Claudia and Windsor held among the soldiers, and more importantly, Claudia's position as regent had not yet been abolished, so in theory, she was still the supreme ruler of Storm Kingdom, and the soldiers were not acting in disobedience.

There was a reason why Cattrana did not abolish Claudia's regent status. Claudia came back so quickly that everyone expected her to return in just three days, which resulted in Cattrana being unprepared for many aspects of the battle.

For example, using Varian to control the city defense forces, controlling public opinion, and abolishing Claudia's ruling position afterwards. At this time, Katrina only spent three days to take control of Stormwind Fortress.

This is not difficult to understand. In Azeroth, the royal power is by no means supreme. Varian doesn't even have a good way to deal with the small nobles he dislikes, and abolishing the regent is not something he can do with just a word.

In fact, the status of long-term regent is only given in extreme cases where the king is young, old, missing, insane, etc. and is unable to fulfill his obligations. Naturally, it will not be returned until the ministers are sure that the king is capable of fulfilling his obligations again. This confirmation ceremony requires at least the joint witness of the three major forces of the Storm Kingdom Church, the nobility, and the military.

Because Stormwind Fortress had suffered an attack last night, it was on high alert at the moment. Seeing a large number of soldiers approaching, the defenders on the fortress wall blew the horn immediately, and Baron Raglan, who was in charge of guarding the city gate, even went up to the city wall himself.

When Baron Raglan noticed Marshal Windsor leading the charge, he immediately shouted, "Windsor, what are you doing here with so many soldiers? Don't you know where this is? Are you trying to commit treason?"

Windsor did not answer, but a figure wearing a blue Stormwind royal cloak stepped forward. The moment Baron Raglan saw the figure's armor, weapons and face, he was stunned. He could naturally recognize who the figure was, but he really didn't expect Claudia to come back at this time, which made him at a loss as to what to do for a moment.

While Baron Raglan was lost in thought, Claudia sneered and replied, "Treason? Lord Raglan, may I ask how they have committed treason? This fortress is my palace. Windsor and these loyal soldiers were merely ordered to escort me home. Yet, you and your men, for what purpose, are preventing me from entering my fortress?"

Over the past year, Claudia had led her army to defeat trolls, orcs, Dark Iron Dwarves, Blackwing Lair, and others, earning her a formidable reputation. Seeing Claudia's unfriendly expression, Baron Raglan hurriedly said, "This is a misunderstanding, Your Majesty. We simply didn't notice your presence before..."

"In that case, open the city gate quickly, now, quickly!" Claudia said impatiently.

Baron Raglan realized that his previous statement was inappropriate and came up with another excuse: "But His Majesty the King has ordered..."

"I don't care about His Majesty's orders," Claudia interrupted Baron Raglan. "According to the law, when the Regent and the King exist at the same time, the Regent's orders take precedence. And now, in the name of the Queen Regent, I order you to open the city gates within half a minute. Otherwise, I will regard the actions of you and your soldiers as treason!"

After the words fell, while Baron Raglan was still hesitating, Claudia looked at the other two figures and gave orders:

"Arthur, start the countdown!"

"Jaina, please!"

Arthur counted loudly: "Thirty, twenty-nine..."

Jaina began to weave a magic. As she moved, the magic power began to roar wildly, and the sky began to turn red.

This magic was obviously quite powerful. Baron Raglan hurriedly turned around and asked Frodetz, the family mage of Duke Vishak, "What kind of magic is this?"

Frodez looked terrified and trembled as he said, "Baron... Baron, I suggest... that it would be... better for us to surrender."

"What do you mean?" Baron Raglan asked anxiously.

Frodez swallowed hard, his words becoming a little more steady. "This...this magic is a meteorite...a meteorite explosion. It usually requires more than twenty mages to...work together to unleash it. Once the meteorite crashes down, the entire city gate and tower will be destroyed. Even the people atop them will probably be dead...dead."

Raglan immediately understood the consequences of this matter. Even if he could escape, once the city gate was destroyed, his private soldiers would never be a match for the regular army of Stormwind Kingdom. More importantly, the queen had just made it very clear that as long as the gate was not opened, others might surrender after the queen won today, but his crime of treason would be a foregone conclusion.

"Sixteen, fifteen, fourteen..." Arthur's voice was still counting coldly and ruthlessly, creating more pressure on Raglan with each count.

Forget it, the little benefit you offered, Katrina, is really not enough for me to risk my life for it.
