Varian noticed Claudia's arrival, but his stern expression remained unchanged. The military meeting was all about iron and blood, and nothing else was allowed to enter.
The Stormwind Kingdom had strict military discipline, and all officers had arrived early. The officers from Theramore arrived a little later than Stormwind Kingdom, but also arrived quickly. Then, archmages such as Jaina and Modera appeared at the door of the tent, and after entering, they stood to the upper right of Varian. Soon, before the end of a quarter of an hour, everyone had arrived.
After Varian arrived with his army, because Jaina was neither good at nor fond of directly commanding the army, she handed over the military power of Theramore to Varian. At this time, Varian was the supreme commander of the Alliance.
At the beginning, there were still some officers in Theramore who dared to disobey Varian's management, but after Varian dealt with a few of them in public, they saw that Jaina would not help them, so all the officers in Theramore now obeyed military orders very strictly.
Varian looked around at the two rows of officers and said straight to the point, "According to the scouts' report, in two hours at most, the undead and demons will attack the defense line where Marshal Windsor and Duke Shadonbreck are stationed."
"I will personally lead the Royal Knights to provide support. Devin, Arthur, and Claudia will be with me."
"Yes," three adjutants came forward to receive the order.
"Hammond, you must lead your First Legion to the battlefield within two hours."
A bearded general came forward to receive the order: "I obey your command!"
"Halford!"
Halford Wyrmbane, the highest-ranking officer under Jaina, stepped forward and said, "Here!"
"You must draw two regiments from the Theramore army to join the battle. You must arrive at the battlefield no later than Hammond."
Halford responded with a roar.
"Gailan! You are responsible for leading the remaining troops to guard the camp."
"Yes, sir!"
After giving his orders to the officers, Varian turned to Modera and said, "Archmage, please lead the rest of the Kirin Tor to prepare for battle."
After Modera also agreed, Varian announced the end of the meeting. The others quickly went forward to lead the army and set off. Brigadier General Martinre, the commander of the Royal Knights, three lieutenants and Jaina remained in the tent.
Jaina tried to speak and asked, "Should we notify the tribe to prepare for support?"
"No need," Varian said firmly, "I don't want to see those orcs!"
Jaina looked at the other people present and decided not to persuade Thrall in public. She sighed quietly and teleported away, planning to find time to communicate with Thrall in private.
This week, Jaina had tried many times to persuade Varian to accept the existence of the Horde, but Varian had already made up his mind. The most he could do was not to attack the Horde when faced with a powerful enemy. It was impossible for him to accept the Horde's assistance, let alone help the Horde.
"If we need to charge later, Devin and Arthur will be responsible for guarding Martinlei's flanks."
The two adjutants responded noisily.
Varian finally looked at the blonde girl and said, "Claudia, just stay with me. You will be responsible for the treatment of the Royal Knights."
"As you command, Your Majesty."
Claudia then followed Varian into the army. The Royal Knights were one of the most elite armies in Stormwind. All the Royal Knights were professionals, comparable to the Lordaeron Guards where Claudia once served, and their equipment was even better. Each of them also had fine chain mail lined under their plate armor to protect the parts that the plate armor could not protect. The only difference from the king was that their chain mail was not made of mithril, and their war horses were also stronger, with armor protection on their heads, necks, chests, bellies and legs.
Soon, the Royal Knights arrived at the defense line where Marshal Windsor and Duke Shadonbreck were stationed. In addition to having sufficient troops, almost all the priests and paladins of the Alliance, as well as a part of the mages led by Archmage Clausus and Tevosh, and scouts were stationed here. Claudia also followed Varian and met Duke Shadonbreck and Marshal Windsor, whom she had not seen for nearly two months.
While Varian was inquiring about the battle situation with Marshal Windsor, Claudia also found Duke Shadonbreck, the vice-captain of the Knights of the Silver Hand and the supreme leader of the Paladins on this expedition. He had many questions upon seeing the girl, but being on the battlefield, he could only cut to the chase: "I'm glad you're safe, Claudia. What can I do for you?"
"Your Excellency the Duke, I just came back yesterday and I don't have any spell materials on me. I'm looking for someone who can provide me with some."
"I'll give you four of my King's Seals first. They should be enough for this battle. After the battle, I'll have someone send you enough materials." Duke Shadonbrick took out a box of materials from his arms and continued, "Also, you can just call me uncle from now on. Your father and I are comrades-in-arms. There's no need to be so polite."
"Thank you, Uncle Grayson."
Duke Shadonbreck gave his final instruction: "Stay close to His Majesty and don't rush too far ahead."
"I understand." Claudia also put away the King's Mark and agreed.
Claudia returned to the king's side and found a bald man in black leather armor emerging from the shadows before him. He knelt and reported, "Your Majesty, our recent reconnaissance didn't reveal the presence of the Demon Lord, but we do have a Demon Lord in the enemy army, and I've sensed three great demons."
Hearing that the Demon Lord was gone, many people breathed a sigh of relief. Varian continued to ask, "What is the situation of the Undead Army?"
